Poolside Chick(s): Did you win the fight? Lee: I did, but then I lost the next fight. Poolside Chick(s): It's okay, you'll always be a winner in our book. What do ya say that we'll “give you pleasure”? Lee: Hahahahahaha! EXCERRENT!!
"Wait, this Team Battle is actually a lore battle that goes all the way back to Tekken 1?" "Always has been." It's nice to see you play a different mode once in a while. I've missed team battles and it's great to see them again. Great stuff, Maina!
A Chicken happens when you reverse a reversal. Anna tries to capture Steve's left arm but he chickens her escaping damage and hurting her in the proccess. If low on health, she could die on this.
I'd like to point out how this team battle is really thought out from a charater relationship standpoint + some callbacks that i know of to maina's previous TAS' (fyi, T1 means Tekken 1, the first tournament. T2 means the 2nd, and so on. There are some spoilers, but I'll try to keep away from T7 stuff): - King II and Craig Marduk were out for one another after Marduk accidentally killed Armor King I (his mentor, the older Armor King) pre-T4. King beat him in T4, and then Marduk called him out in T5 for a rematch whilst wearing a black jaguar mask (mocking Armor King), which King won again. They became partners afterwards when King ultimately forgives Marduk. Their story continues in T6 where they find another Armor King exists, Armor King II (Armor King I's younger brother). - King and Julia Chang seems to be friends. In T5, Julia warned King not to heed Marduk's taunts (I don't think she was successful as King still confronted Marduk in the end). - Ganryu feels affectionate to Julia due to her resemblance to Michelle Chang, her mother, whom if I remembered, Ganryu had a love for. Plus that slap animation after Ganryu grabs her is unique to her only if I remember correctly. - Yoshimitsu defeated Ganryu and stole the money that he won in T1, which Yoshi gave away to the poor. - Yoshi saved Bryan Fury in T4 and handed him to Dr.Bosconovitch so that he could heal him (Bryan was dying, so Bosconovitch installed a generator on him so he could survive, plus it gave him more power) (Yoshi's just the goodest good-guy in the Tekken universe). In response, by T5, Bryan slaughtered a bunch of the Manji clan (Yoshi's clan). Yoshi's been out to get Bryan ever since (it's unclear how that story's progressed by now). - Bryan's an asshole, so naturally Lei Wulong, a skilled cop, was out to catch him. They also had history as in T3, Lei uncovered some shady business Bryan was doing. - Apparently Bruce Irvin was Lei's target in T2. I don't know why, but then Bruce got amnesia in a plane crash after Lei apprehended him (the plane was carrying them both). - Steve Fox and Bruce had an interaction on T5, with the two of them exchanging blows, comparing Kickboxing and Boxing (I'm not sure if this is canon though). There's a callback to Maina's previous TAS battle between Steve and Bruce which was pretty awesome. - Nina Williams and Anna Williams are sisters who are rivals, to the point in T6 where when Nina was hired by Jin Kazama to work for him and the Mishima Zaibatsu, Anna went to work for his father and enemy, Kazuya Mishima and the G Corporation. Nina is Steve's biological mother, so I assume that makes Anna his aunt (although Nina doesn't really care too much about Steve being his son after she finds that out by T4/5). - In T2, Lee Chaolan worked with Anna so they are well acquainted. I'm not sure Lee's interacted with Nina yet by the time T5 occurs, but they are on opposite sides by the time T7 happens. - Lee was stated to be a clone character of Marshall Law at first, due to Law being inspired by Bruce Lee, and Lee being inspired by the "new Bruce Lee", Donnie Yen . Eventually the creators went in another direction. I don't recall them ever interacting in the games though. - Law and Baek Doo San were rivals on T2. Baek attacked Law's dojo (no idea why, I guess it's because he also has a dojo? But they teach different marshall arts so that part's I'm kinda confused). In T5 they also meet, but it seems like they've forgotten all about their history. Maybe Baek forgot after his coma by the hands of Ogre pre-T3. They had a TAS battle too in one of Maina's previous vids. - Kazuya Mishima defeated Baek in the Tekken Motion Picture (non-canon). I don't think they ever interacted in the games too. - Kazuya and Heihachi Mishima has a long storied rivalry as son and father. Heihachi threw Kazuya off a cliff when Kazuya was a child (for reasons later explained in T7). Kazuya survived with the help of Devil powers, and bested Heihachi in T1, throwing HIM off a cliff (his T1 ending), whilst also gaining control of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Heihachi survived THAT, beat Kazuya and his other form, Devil Kazuya, in T2 and threw HIM into ...you guessed it...a volcano (curveball!). By T3 Heihachi leads the Zaibatsu again and the events of T3 happens. Post-T3, Kazuya was saved by the G Corporation (Zaibatsu's rivals), and confronted Heihachi in T4. Heihachi had already captured Jin Kazama by that point with the help of the Tekken Force, Zaibatsu's private army (to extract Jin's devil powers for Heihachi to harness for himself). Also, by this point, Kazuya has been informed of the existence of Jin (his son) and his Devil powers, and sets off to absorb Jin's Devil powers so that he could get stronger. I'm not sure how that specific encounter turned out (many sources say Heihachi beat Kazuya, but some also say Kazuya beat Heihachi), but eventually, Heihachi took Kazuya to Honmaru, the place where Jin was held captive. Jin beat them, then flew away as Devil Jin. After that, the events of T5, T6, and T7 occured. - Heihachi and Kazuya also had a TAS battle in one of Maina's previous T5 TAS videos. Good work as always Maina! Sorry if i missed and spoiled anything, or got some things wrong, just wanted to point out how you managed the team battles pretty considerately, not just random characters thrown in a video. Keep it up man, always look forward to your vids!
The reason of baek attacking law's dojo is because baek went rage after he accidentally killed his father during taekwondo training Atleast that's what i read about baek in the tekkenpedia
Lee trained with Paul and Law in America prior to Tekken 1, which explains why he shares some of their moves. Baek worked for Kazuya during the events of Tekken 2, along with Anna, Ganryu, Lee, and Bruce (who was Kazuya’s right-hand man).
I like how most of the match-ups had some lore relevance. I also have a terrifying suspicion Anna would hit on her nephew because I don't think she even knows she has one... Considering how often Julia gets "put on display", I'm thoroughly convinced that's Maina's favorite character. If Julia is ever in another game with Ganryu, I hope they *never* get rid of the Ganryu Slap. Did Kazuya always have a parry and I just never knew?
Ah, it feels good to watch a TAS video of my favorite single player mode in the entire Tekken series. I'd love it if you did more Team Battle TAS videos in the future, Maina.
I love it when Maina's Yoshimitsu makes his opponents join in on the unorthodoxy 6:49 Lei got TKO'd so hard he didn't even finish experiencing his own pain. YIKES!!!! 😱
great stuff as always Maina. I appreciate the callbacks to ye olde tekken lore, Like Yoshimitsu blastback-ing Ganryu for the money back in tekken 1, that he ends up disctributing to Law and his familys village. :D
I love that you made the team Battle fights based on the realation and story between the characters. Examples: King vs Marduk Nina vs Anna and Yoshimitsu vs Bryan. Btw Tekken 5 is my first game ever.
Watching you play this... makes me look like a amateur. I've played Tekken since age 8. And the mode has always been set on easy. I might need to change up a bit and face some challenges. This game play is inspiring me to wanna try harder and play better. Thank you for that.
I've heard "Chicken" before I've heard "Oops!" before... I've never heard "Perfect." (14:01) before! What conditions have to be met to get that sound? Does it still exist in TTT2 or T7? I'm curious...
I remember how much I struggled making up the team I'll use to fight my brother or sister's one and it always took me ten mins, and here it's done in literally half a second :')
14:26 , when Heihachi performs the charging double punches, is Kazuya actually using parry or something else to nullify the second hit as then it follows with the forward right punch??? And what a finale in that fight.... :O
Очень классная вышла командная битва! Из них больше понравились 2. Это первая, между Кингом и Мардуком и вторая, между Стивом и Брюсом, в котором первый все же отомстил второму за предыдущий бой. 🌝
If you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to make Yohimitsu do bad stomach into sommersault while backturned? I can't manage to make him do bad stomach without turning around. Amazing video, by the way. I really like the way you played with the 3D hitboxes, it's a very unique direction for a TAS
