Would you want to use these over something like the new Rode Wireless Pros? They record 32 bit float internally. But If I am using a lav with themI think it's only 24 bit transmission to the camera...what would you suggest for wedding videography?

Good question, I haven’t personally used the Wireless Pro but if it can record 32bit internally and 24 bit wirelessly, then I would go with that since you have 2x recordings just in case and the 32 bit can be a backup for low or high scenarios. And it’s all being synced into the camera so you don’t gotta worry about that as well in post. In wedding scenarios, that would be the best option in my opinion

I wish the bluetooth adapter range was longer since bluetooth 5.0 supports up to 800ft. I still look forward to using it with timecode.

True. Maybe they can come out with a newer version Bluetooth adapter that has more range

@@Tech_HD1 That's what I'm hoping for. Atomos Ultrasync Blue is only bluetooth 4 which limits the range to 33ft for timecode.

(If you know) Which device has the best recorded sound quality, the Tascam DR-10 L Pro, the Zoom F2 or the Rode Wireless Pro (all of them with the included lavalier mics)? Thank you…

So I haven’t tested out the new Rode Wireless Pro yet so I can’t say anything about that. But between the DR-10L Pro and Zoom F2, I gotta go with the Tascam. The Lav mic sounds more clearer and less muffled compared to the Zoom. What would be the best settings to use if I were to record with two of these recorders concurrently, podcast-style, attached to two different people at an arms length apart?

Have the gain at a lower then normal setting so it wouldn’t be catching the other person talking and then boost it post and it’ll still be a really clean signal because of the 32 Bit Float

@@Tech_HD1 Brilliant thanks a million man. And then is there a way to sync and then combine the recordings in post as one audio track, so that I can adjust the gain together to get the perfect level? Otherwise, it would seem that if I adjust them separately, then, since they would be on different audio tracks, the final result would end up clipping as they play together.

Sometimes I use my drone to record me walking and talking, and I would use an audio recorder like this and sync the audio in post with a clap. However, my concern with this is that the prop noise from my drone will get picked up in the recording. Would the base model DR-10L be better for me since I can manually adjust the gain with that, just enough to pickup on my voice but not the propellers?

I would still use the DR-10L Pro because you can still control the gain manually but with that 32 Bit Float, you have more flexibility to raise and lower the gain of your voice without messing up the noise floor so I would still go with that 👍🏼

@@Tech_HD1 Amazing idea thank you! Is there a way to make that edit in Premiere Pro (i.e., how to dial up the voice noise and dial down the background hum drum prop)?

@@JasonActualization In premiere pro you would need to clip the audio to separate it and then individually lower or raise the audio. Not sure if there an easier solution to that. I mainly use Adobe Audition to edit my audio

@@Tech_HD1 Perfect that's most helpful. Before exporting what gain level do you recommend adjusting the final audio file to, i.e., -3 or -6 DB?

@@JasonActualization I keep everything in my videos at -6db. That seems to be the most balanced for me when listening on different devices but some people prefer a bit louder so if this video seems too low to you, go with -3db

For 32-bit float, when setting the gain, what results in the highest quality vocals, erring on the side of setting the gain too low, or too high, and then normalizing all peaks to 0 db in post?

I have liked how it sounds like on “High-Mid” or just Mid. Depending on the area, those two seem to be the best when it comes to audio quality and then just touching it up in post

@@Tech_HD1 Awesome, thank you! I have tried recording on the very lowest gain setting, and then touched it up in post. I was honestly extremely surprised how amazing the final sound was, I figured a lot of additional noise would be added. This recorder is incredible man.

@@JasonActualization Yea so that’s the great about the 32 Bit Float recording. Increasing the volume in post won’t increase the noise floor, that will stay the same so you still get super clean audio 😁👍🏼
