Welcome to my daily vlogs! TRAVEL. FOOD. COMEDY. SINGING. PETS. LIFE.
I upload a new video every day at 7AM EST!
Vlog edited by Jeah Yason
For business inquiries: mikeyjbustos@gmail.com
About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first RU-vid channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!

4:31 She's probably trying to lay an egg. And I think she's trying to figure out where she wants to start her clutch of eggs. She's not incubating them yet don't worry, she's not taking shifts incubating both nests. Hens lay eggs everyday or every other day depending on the breed of the chicken, and once they've finished laying all her eggs in that one clutch she will turn "broody" and she'll start incubating the eggs so that all the chicks hatch within a very close timeframe. You'll know when she's broody when she's all puffy and very introvert-ish that she doesn't want other chickens around her and she makes this cute clucking sound all the time.

I have raised hundreds of chickens if you are feeding chickens peanuts you should roast them raw peanuts can harm their health. If you let them roam you still need to offer chicken feed and oyster shell , they may also lay eggs in random places

If it was me, I'd put up another fence along the neighbor's side, like the white one that separates the house from the farm lot. But I would add trellis to the top and grow vining flowers or even veggies up the trellis. It would act as privacy, extra greenery, and food for the animals. Also if you're going to free-range you are going to need to put a little fencing around your planter beds. Goats will eat right through any kind of plastic cover and the chickens will eat any thing they can get to as well (plant wise.) The pheasants would also probably do really well with the chickens. Their needs are very similar. Just the 2cents of a NY farm girl lol You and RJ have done such a beautiful job, I have no doubt you will figure it all out, & I'm here for it all!

Mikey, the chickens wants to lay eggs and incubate them if you put them in their private chamber. Like inside their little rooms. Put an empty box inside their cage. Put dried banana leaves or dried grasses or rice stalks. They love them.

Fresh eggs from the farm taste so much better. Ever since my inlaws got chickens and free range farmed them, I can't eat regular store bought eggs, no taste, only buy pasture raised...so much better. Loving the Ants Canada series, I've watched for years, don't worry about day late. Have a wonderful week!

My grandma has had hundreds of chickens and i'd like to give You some good old advice. Chickens really like dried up nettle, i think they get lots of vitamins. They also like dry sand/dirt baths. Crushed eggshells are also a must- good source of protein. They can also eat boiled andcrushed potatoes, carrots, apples etc. One more important thing i have learned that You must leave the nest with one "Nest-egg"- that way the chickens will always lay there! Good luck! Kat

The first plant you mention is not a monstera but it is like a cousin, It's philodendron dragon tail. And the one near your fountain that you are starting to like is a philodendron green emerald. The vine that you love crawling on the walls is a cissus vine :) just a little help love watching our vlogs.

Hi, sorry to correct you but dragon tail is no longer part of philodendron family. Rather it is identified now as part of epipremnum pinnatum family. The plant near the fountain is not a philodendron but a monstera borsigiana albo variegatta.

I love your silkies po! I used to take care of free ranged chickens and I find them happier when I feed them a variety of food since chickens get bored lol, planting mulberry, madre de agua(can be fed to billie and eilish too , pigs etc) oregano(can help and improve chickens immune) and malunggay( you can make malunggay powder and mix it in their water or food) its good for them to have some fresh supply of real organic feed.. Oh and I crush eggshells and turn them into powder and mix it with the hens food sometimes for calcium they need it to make their eggs shells stronger, I spoil them sometimes with dried mealworms but not too much just a bit for protein and they enjoy some fruit like watermelon or papaya chilled from the fridge! Hope this helps! ❤❤❤ Oh and I did a little experiment po with my chickens I played Classical Piano Music to them in speaker and they love it they start to relax and sleep whenever I play some hahahah so cute.. Love your vlogs po!! ❤❤❤

That plant is called a Epipremnum Pinnatum, it’s part of the Araceae plant family. They are very hard to keep alive in Canada, especially during the winter. They are absolutely stunning, enjoy watching it grow and climbing up the walls in your gayviary! Would you ever consider getting passion flower vines? They are season but come in the most beautiful purples and reds! So very jealous you have such a beautiful home 💜

Still so awesome to see your farm, and house, after watching you since I was a young teen! For your silkies, I'd say two things- one, your rooster probably can get everyone pregnant, despite the size difference. In our mixed flock, of both full-size and bantam chickens, we have one tiny bantam rooster and we still see fertilization spots in the eggs from time to time. make sure to pick up your eggs daily, otherwise you risk cracking a... more developed chicken embryo into your pan. Also, for the roosting bar, I would make sure it's square or flat in shape where they rest their feet, at least two inches wide, and wrapped in rope or twine- a smaller, rounder bar can hurt their feet and cause issues. making it flat lets them get their belly feathers all the way over their feet, which is important for keeping themselves thermoregulated. Also agree with what others are saying, pace yourself! 're getting documentary-level stuff from you on the Ant channel, and reality TV on this one! wouldn't blame you if you put out episodes once a month if they're of the quality you always push out!

home eggs totally taste better than store bought! likely because pet chickens generally have a more varied diet with bugs and table scraps etc, while the poor farm chickens are on a more or less entirely pellet/grain diet.

Just love these Farmhouse vlogs! Each animal and bird has their own personality. Hope the chickens scratch around and get some insects too, that makes the eggs even more tasty. The fence is a great idea. Gosh it's really evolving on the farm. Mental health comes first Mikey. Such a good explanation of burnout. When it becomes that you have to do it, as opposed to want to do it. Totally agree👍

hi mikey, i suggest you feed your chickens with mixed grains instead of pellet feeds, as the later normally contains hormones. mixed grains are more organic than pellet feeds. here in the philippines mixed grains are often called conditioners, and you can pick it up at any poultry supply. you can even give your chickens chopped veggies ftom time to time.

I’m with you, I’m not a fan of Winter! Ugh., I live in Connecticut. Love how your farm is coming along . Looking so good. You need a couple things for the goats to jump up on and stand or lay. They are natural climbers. Have you ever thought about creating a website with live feeds of the animal enclosures? You put cameras inside the habitats. And when you’re away you could always check in on everything. Maybe even sell merchandise. Just a thought!

Great Vlog!! FarmVille Vlogs are really super interesting. I really want to comment on what you’re saying about meeting a schedule. I feel that when you reach an age (level of experience) where you understand your world, you must listen to yourself and work to keep your sanity. I know you know this, we’ve been “doing this” now for years and, when you work yourself into a funk everything suffers. Be a great friend to yourself, it’s worth it in every way (again, you already know all this). I wonder if, for summer, it’s worth having a fan system to move air around. Now, I know fans are a danger for birds but, with a little creative engineering, it could be devised pretty easily. In some theme parks, they combine misting tubes and fans together to cool down some of the queues. Just a thought. I’d suggest putting up a fence that suits your needs. If the neighbors prefer something different, they can build that on their side next to your fence. There were Peacocks on the property when I had my condo in Hawaii. They’re beautiful to look at but, they’re nasty, aggressive birds, especially when the males parade their tails… we were told to just get away. Yep, those eggs are exactly what they’re supposed to be. It’s because of the feed, it’s better than the food in a commercial environment. That’s why the yolks are more yellow and more creamy and taste more “yolky”. I’m guessing at some point you’ll not appreciate store-bought eggs as much as your fresh eggs. If I can get fresh eggs to bake with, I prefer it, it makes a huge difference. I find it funny how things change over time. I’ve always loved the “just a day in the life” vlogs but, they’ve changed so much over time. The “day” vlogs in the condo were so different than the “day” vlogs when we had the Pandemic, and when ya’ll moved to Tagaytay, different again and, now in the Farm House, very different again. Some days it’s Aviary vlogs, some days are Pool vlogs and, recently we have FarmVille vlogs… I find it all incredibly cool! ‘Ya never know what we might get but, it’s all super interesting and very informative (if you pay attention, LOL). I wonder if you had a few small, shallow pools around the indoor aviary, the birds would bathe in those (I actually saw some that would be perfect at a glass blowers shop, they would look very cool amongst the flora and fauna). That new red canary is really cool. You can see him immediately. This has worked out splendidly having all these little birds in this aviary. I think you may need a longer plate for all those birds to have their seeds. Your Dad always just cracks me up. My sense is he’s always ready (for anything) with a Joke of the Day. Thanks for another great vlog! Ya’ll be safe and I’ll see ‘ya next time.

The color of the eggyolk is because of their diet. In the industy they try to keep feeding costs as low as possible. Because of this they use a lot of wheat. Most chickens in backyards have a better diet wit less wheat and oats and maybe more mais or other good stuff and because of that the color of the eggs is way more bright. It is a sign of a chicken with a healthy diet :D

Thanks for this post! As a former chicken owner the hens will have to sit constantly for about 21 days for healthy chicks to hatch. I agree that the rooster will be able to breed all the hens. Fertilized eggs will be just fine to eat, as you said no problem until they have been incubated for a couple of days.

Mikey you have your nesting box on floor, remove it keep inside the cage or on top. hen doesnt want to be disturb during laying eggs and the rooster will not bother them during that time. There is no hormones on regular feeds except if you will give them laying mass feeds for them to lay more eggs

if you plan on planting tomatoes here is a tip to get a huge amount from few plants, first go down to the beach and get some seaweed and kelp, take it home and wash it well and chop it up put it about six to eight inches down from top let sit for two to three weeks and then plant tomato plants. we did this and from four plants we got 11 grocery bags full of tomatoes and our so called cherry tomatoes were the size of a mandarin orange

The eggs in the egg box are large sized eggs, Silky chicken are small eggs. Any rooster can and will get all his girls one way or the other. If they are fertilized you wont see any babies inside for at least 12 days as they usually will brood once all the eggs they think are going to be able to lay on top, you may see a small spot inside the eggs, that would be the start but wont grow till under a hen for at least 21 days. I have Brahma hens and a couple roosters, as well I have an incubator that I will put 30 eggs inside and hatch out babies, the rest go to my friends and neighbors. I love my chicken eggs, they are mostly free range(not much chicken food) which allows them to have the darkest yolks and they are really, really yummy. Hope you have a great day.

The chickens need more enrichment. More roosting spots. Different diameters and materials. Bigger water and food dispensers. Fresh grass and veggies.

I think a head-high metal fence made from black or dark-brown vertical bars with gaps would look amazing and be quite neutral design-wise.

You’re not reading the comments. Silkie eggs are half the size of the other chickens eggs and usually slightly brown, not pure white. There will be a distinct difference in the two eggs.

The one you call a monstera is an epipremnum pinnatum with albo variegation. Local name is tibatib. And the one by the fountain IS a monstera. A monstera borsigiana albo.

You need more straw in the nest boxes. The eggs need a cushion so they don’t get broken. And yes, a hen will lay on another chickens eggs. It’s that pecking order thing. Good luck! I wish I could have chickens,

Yes please move the skinny pigs, so that both they and the bunnies have more space. Bunnies need way way more ground space and have a different diet to gpigs, so it is best to separate them (even if they can live next to each other). They also need more to chew on, best would be twigs from fruit trees or something out of untreated wood. Please also change to water bowls instead of these water bottles Greetings, a long-time bunny owner

AntsCanada videos are well worth waiting for. So if it takes a few extra days, GREAT! Only means an even better episode (if that's possible)

Silkies will definitely breed with other breeds of chickens but there will be no baby or fetus inside the egg unless you allow incubation. Many of the eggs in the store are fertilized as well. The only time for concern is if your hen is broody and has been sitting on the eggs. Here in Texas it also gets hot enough to incubate without hens in the summer so collect daily in hot conditions. Also I've noticed that my silkies cant fly basically at all so they prefer to sleep and nest on the ground so if you are wanting one to go broody, let a clutch of eggs be layed in a nest on the floor.

I highly recommend doing a deep dive on youtube about chickens as they are much more complex then many think. Also the diet you are providing most likely have hormones or chemicals of some sort if it is not certified organic but feeding a pelleted diet along with seeds and forage is needed as the pellet is fortified with all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which are needed to healthily create eggs long term. ( especially with the selectively bred breeds like silkies)

Hello Mikey, long time watcher but first time commenter here 🙌 Always love how considerate and loving you’ve been to your animals ❤ Chickens are such sweethearts! I’m so happy you started keeping them (moreover you chose silkies! they’re absolute cuties) You can try to bond with them by giving them veggies and mealworms as treats, they’d love it and will flock to you (some will even hop on your lap/shoulder to demand pets eventually haha)

We went out camping in a farm and they have peacocks that are free roaming around the area. We woke up with their sound and saw 1 on the roof. They're always fascinating and gorgeous. Hope you could get a couple or few, that would be lovely!

Skinnies need heat, even if it's hot out, Mikey, get a FEW fleece cubby sacks! They will fit perfectly in a tunnel tube like the ones you have. To bathe them, use coconut oil and wipe down with anything very soft. I use round makeup cotton pads. 😊✌️🦛 💚
