Welcome to our Food Channel! Today, we’re sharing a Tasty, Easy & Quick Coconut Chutney recipe, also known as Thengai Chutney. This versatile chutney pairs perfectly with idli, dosa, and other South Indian breakfast or dinner dishes. It’s simple to prepare and packed with flavor!
Ingredients:
For Chutney:
4 green chillies
2 cups grated coconut
1 tbsp fried gram
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
Water (as needed)
For Tempering:
Oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
Curry leaves
2 dried red chillies
Salt (to taste)
Water (as needed)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Chutney: In a blender jar, add green chillies, grated coconut, fried gram, salt, and water. Grind to a smooth consistency.
2. Tempering: Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add curry leaves, dried red chillies, and a pinch of salt. Sauté until aromatic.
3. Turn off the flame & Pour the ground coconut chutney into the pan. Add water to the blender jar to rinse out the leftover chutney and pour it into the pan.
4. Stir everything well and adjust the salt and water as needed for your desired consistency.
5. Serve this delicious Coconut Chutney with hot idlis, dosas, or any South Indian breakfast!
