Tattoos don’t always need a story, it’s ok to get one just because you like it. The words “tattoo” and “regret” end up together a lot even though I could never see myself ever regretting a tattoo. Even if you don’t like it in 10 years, it still represents a part of your life. Remember, you only live once.
@@alexbarcovsky4319 There is such a thing as cover ups, and if you’re brave you can get them removed although I’ve heard that’s really painful. What I was mainly talking about is that when I talk about getting a tattoo I constantly hear “You’ll regret it when you get old…” except when I ask older folks about their tattoos I’ve never heard one say that they regret or wish they had never gotten them.
@@kiriken1968 Interesting, Ive heard from many people 30+ regretting, covering and removing their earliest tattooos. Maybe around 20-30% of them actually.
@@alexbarcovsky4319 Thats pretty interesting since I’ve had the opposite experience. Just goes to show that there is many different people with different experiences with tattoos. I can imagine people who got the name of maybe their ex or maybe the tattoo simply didn’t turn out how they thought it would be would be upset or regret it. But it seems Chris has thought out his tattoos and they seem well done. I know I personally wouldn’t just walk in somewhere and just get one, although I know people do that. I’ve been researching artists and styles to see exactly what I want.
yess!! it took me some time to get out of that mindset of “will i like this 10 years from now” even if it’s something i wouldn’t get 10 years from now it’s still something i loved when i got it
I always wanted tattoo's on my fingers but sadly enough I can't do it with the career I'm focusing on. The whole world just needs to get rid off the tattoo taboo.
I have a sleeve on one arm and a few on the other. I worked directly for a high-level executive of a tech company right out of college. Nobody cares. Don't let life dictate what you can and can't do. Do what you love. The right path will find you.
@@kramer1372 That is true. However, I think it depends on what the subject matter is. I would say no face at all what so ever or neck. But I have a guy I work with now who is a high level software engineer at my company and he has the letters of your resting keys when you type tattooed on his fingers.
Flying Ruffy yes, but Fernweh is kinda a different thing. Wanderlust (wanting to wander / explore) is the need to go somewhere and Fernweh is well, as he said, being homesick of a foreign country or the distance (Ferne). I‘m German so i hope I explained it correctly but anyone can correct me if they want to!
Wandern = hiking Lust = joy or desire (in this context) So wanderlust describes a desire to hike or a joy taken in hiking. It can be used interchangeably with fernweh but honestly it depends a lot on the context. Wanderlust closely related to a desire/joy to be in or hiking hrough nature. Fernweh as stated above is pretty well described as the opposite of being homesick, homesick in german is Heimweh. "Heim" translates to "home" ans "weh" to "pain" or "suffering". So "fernweh" = "distancesick", "heimweh" = "homesick" One could say being sick of being home. A desire to travel and explore distant or new places. But fernweh does not related to nature, hiking or movement necessarily like wanderlust does. It's more a desire for a change of scenery to what you're used to. So it might be a city trip without much walking. And even if your walking all day through the city you wound describe it as hiking and also wanderlust wouldn't really apply to the desire to have a exploring walk through NYC. But Wanderlust will apply to exploring the rocky mountains even though your living in Colorado and do so a 40 minute drive from your home in an to you familiar area.
It is the most open-hearted video I've ever seen. My god dude, really dope, I'm really happy to know something more about you, except for the magic part. Fenolftalina!
As someone who has always loved magic and is currently curating a collection of tattoos it is very cool to see someone who has some serious thought and stories behind their tattoos, great video!
Love how every tattoo has a good story or real meaning behind it for you. too often people get things for no reason and regret it. thanks for giving us more of a glimpse of your heart in your skin.
The most emotional video you ever made and that’s why we love you and whoever made those beautiful tattoos is a really talented one. I love that every tattoo has his own story, mine don’t (but I never regret and never will).
I love the Momento Mori tattoo so much, it's a dream of mine to get that tattooed on me some day, I've always struggled with being too anxious to do things and always taking the back road out of fear, kinda like the song "waving through a window" and I love the the message of "you're just a mortal, you're gonna die so do whatever the fuck you want
I think the wanderlust and momento mori where the ones that related to me the most. I'm a person who constantly has the want to see new places and live in places I've never been to before, and one who travels because I know this is the only life I got. Thank you for the video I loved it!
Bro, you have inspired me...Your story, or stories for that matter are told in such an iconic and artistic way. Your tattoos are so simple yet complex but their meaning are so clear because you really don't have to think too much into how to express yourself. I just recently got my first tattoo and seeing your video has really inspired me to look more into myself on how I can visualize my personality through this art. Thank you for this!
the description/beginning sentence is exactly what i'm feeling. i will not regret them later, because they remind me of something i once was passionate about
You are literally the most dedicated and amazing youtuber ever. Your editing skills, your planning, your creativity and your music are amazing. You are a freaking magician inside and outside RU-vid. Greetings from Colombia
Could you make a Q and A video? Here are my questions: Do you regret any of your tattoos? How much time do you put into a routine or trick before you perform?
I think it is so beautiful seeing other people falling in love with words and different languages. I'm German and I never thought of getting any German word tattooed. English just felt more natural to me. But your 'fernweh' tattoo really reminded me of the beauty of my own language. We tend to underestimate our own culture and overindulge in the english / western / modern culture presented in the media. This video was so beautiful. It has so much meaning to it, pure magic
Loved your tattoo that spelled love upside down! Ended up doing one, but changed the suits on the 3 and the queen. Looks amazing! Btw your videos are awesom,! keep it up! Cheers from Sweden!
I’ll never criticise someone’s tattoo (maybe a little depending on the tattoo) but I love and have huge respect when people get tattoos that have stories behind them. Especially when they have so many. Appreciate the tattoos a lot mate 👍🏻
I love how all of your tattoos are so different and don't necassarily have a relationship to one another but, they manage to flow so nicely and look so aesthetically pleasing! They tell such an amazing story 😊
"Wanderlust" literally means to be in the mood to go hiking but is used to describe the desire to travel the world or the desire to be in a far away country just as "fernweh" :)
I've been waiting for this video for a really long time. It's always a pleasure to get an insight into what your tattoos mean; tattoos are always super personal, and like you said it's the good and bad.
hey chris. i just wanted to say, i truly enjoy your videos. im a begineer, in cardistry, and you are the one guy i look up now for my pursuit in training my hands in this skill. thank you for posting and keeping it up. i would love to meet you one day. you are all about teaching the idea of this passion of yours, not just tutorials but the life style and insight into amazing people. cheers from Canada.
Cool video. Really interesting content and the way you put it together with the backdrop of getting your newest ink made it really riveting. Thanks for sharing Chris!
I love this video reminds me of me every tattoo I have has a meaning Chris i gotta say I'm fairly new to the channel but you got me hooked into magic and cardistry just the vibe you gave off on your first video I stumbled on and I've been hooked on this ever sense I bought a bunch of books a bunch of decks that' I've seen you use and you have just helped me find a new outlet and something that I know I can always have to turn to my hats off to you I really do respect everything you stand for and what you are doing here thank you!
I think its from "52 reasons why I love you" and the fact that there's 52 cards in a deck (excluding the joker), which sometimes they use blank cards ( 52 in total) to write those reasons. Pls correct me if im wrong as Im not to clear about this as well
the 52 is a group of magicians that are strictly invite only and each have a tattoo of a card suit and number on their fingers - Ramsay's is the four of spades. the52.co.uk/
That’s not how it works you don’t pick a font off of Microsoft word and tattoo it. And if your artist suggests that instead of drawing something up then you have a fucking lazy shitty artist
I don't know why this didn't come to me until just now. NO! I chose it before stepping foot in shop. I'm doing my own Led Zeppelin font I've been drawing since I was 18 to go across my back and hope to sit in March. ✌🏼🎄
I actually took my first tattoo because of you, I never had a clear vision what kind of tattoo I would like to have but I always wanted one. And seeing you with a lot of diffrent kinds of tattooes all separett but it clearly showed that every single one had a meaning to it. And so I thought what is it that I hold dearest to myself and if that will be something important for me when I'm old.
man i could never sit down and explain most my tattoos. when people ask i just tell them that i sketched most of my own tats but they don’t necessarily mean anything deeper- they usually look at me like 🤨 i just love having another artist transfer my own art onto my skin. it’s an experience all together, and it even helps me step out of my shell in public bc ppl will comment on my tattoos and shit art is art is art
such a beautiful tattoo edit, keep up the good work chris!! this video is a peice of art man don't forget that i know how much effort can go into making a video and to see one done this well is awesome,
love your stuff so much chris these videos that you make, make me want to learn magic even more every time I watch. You are such an inspiration to me.Keep up the good work.
Thank you chris! I know it can be hard to explain all the tattoos that you have or some are to meaningful. This was a beautiful video and i greatly appreciate it.
I think its from "52 reasons why I love you" and the fact that there's 52 cards in a deck (excluding the joker), which sometimes they use blank cards ( 52 in total) to write those reasons. Pls correct me if im wrong as Im not to clear about this as well
Ragnarok the first I looked it up and it says that it's some kind of magic community that is by invite only and each magician gets given a card to be The website is called "#the52"
I could listen to you talk about your tattoos all day... Your descriptions are inspiring... We share a fascination with skulls and what they potentially can represent. I think you need to add some dragons to your collection ... Your strength, bold personality and willingness to protect your loved ones works perfectly with the magestic dragon.
The cards that read " 3AQ7" spelled love upside down is something I really want, reminding me that at the start of my life I was giving a choice and giving chances, I like the thrill of things and I like living on edge this has caused me a ton of loss and a ton of failure in my life, there for I would get them in cards preceiving gambling, I don't have much to loss so I give my all,I like gambling and playing my odds but in the future I hope I have played my odds and cards well enough resulting in where I would be at in my future I would look at my wrist (placement of tattoo.) and be reminded the things I had to do to be where I'll be at years from now and that will either again be success or failure. (3AQ7, LOVE.)
On the subject of the Thurston tattoo - that little devil has some other classic magical history to it! Also referred to as an "imp," some of the most famous depictions of this little guy show him whispering into Harry Kellar's ear in lithographs from the late 1800s. Thurston adopted a similar image from Kellar (who taught him and toured with him). Even August Jansen (Dante being his stage name) used the theme in his advertising through the '30s and '40s. Other notable uses of the image? Ricky Jay had at least one poster with the motif, very closely imitating Kellar's iconic image. Yay for magic history and the art related to it! :D
I have been watching your puzzle videos for a while. I love the way you present them and the calming way you talk. I cannot believe you have a tattoo done in Blackpool, that's where I was born! :-) Interesting video, I love the stories behind ink.
I think its funny how every tattoo has to have meaning for most people in order for them to get them, i have 11 tattoos and not a single one has meaning or a story behind it, they are all random drawings that i found on the internet.
It is awesome to hear what meanings are behind those tattoos and it just shows what it is all about. Sometimes people see tattoos and are quick to judge, thinking "There is no meaning behind it, you are going to regret this" etc. I guess everyone with tattoos has heard something like. For example I got tattoo above my right ankle which says "TORN" and underneath there is an arrow pointing to my ankle. This seems like a pointless tattoo but it isn't. I love basketball, I love playing it, I love watching. I play basketball for almost 10 years now and hab a couple of injuries. I tore my ligaments in my ankle 4 times (2x right, 2x left) and one time it was so bad that the movement in my joint isn't a 100% anymore. It is not really bad but still. This tattoo represents my passion for basketball even though I probably won't ever earn any money or make my living with basketball but I still play with my shitty ankles and worn out ligaments because I love it. And this tattoo will always remind me of my passion for basketball and in the future when I'm too old to play, it will remind me how much fun I had and hopefully feel the passion again like I was playing. Also the next time I will sprain my ankle and tear my ligaments, I can go to the doctor and the diagnosis is already written on my skin, so that he only has to do the paperwork.. :D
THANK YOU CHRIS! This was personally very heart felt! It really told me alot about what I was looking to find the answer to in my life! If that makes any sense! Love ya bro! I thought I had watched all of your videos! SHOCKER! ahaahahahhaa Your videos bring me so much enjoyment and understanding of complex issues!
