I have the Curado Dc, Daiwa Hyper Long Cast and the Daiwa Elite Long Cast. All 3 are excellent , that said when I want max distance I grab the Diawa’s. When it comes to versatility to me I go to the Dc as it can cast far and very quickly make a adjustment to skip it. But again dedicated long cast I go to the Daiwa’s as I cast them further no matter how I adjust the Dc.
Try that test again with a 1/4 oz weight. BTW you are allowed to adjust the tension knob on the right side of the Daiwa reel also. They claim it is "factory set" well yes it is set at the factory then the reel is put in a box and sold. Factory set to what weight? They have no idea what weight bait you are going to throw with the reel. If it never needs adjusting why then put a knob there that can rotate and adjust the tension? I have both reels and like them both but I use the DC for baits 3/8 oz and heavier in weight and the Elite for 3/8 and lighter.
Hold on. I’m a fan of both companies, but you stated you adjusted tension on the DC, and left the tension as it came out of the box with the Tatula. Not to mention, it came straight out of the box, bearings haven’t even been broken in, as you mentioned that it got smoother the more you used it. The DC has been through how many tests, it’s bearings have been broken in and set. How about a comparison after a month of using it, adjust tension for optimum results. Keep the competition fair, or do an actual new in box stock vs new in box stock comparison. I call bullshit.
so 2 yard difference - and you want another test after breaking in the bearings of the daiwa - so the test would show a 2 yard difference in Daiwa's favour? this test tells me enough.
Surely his tests lacks methodological consitency, generating quite not trustable results. But Daiwa is the one who says don't mess with the zero-adjuster tuning, so, over this point he isn't to be blamed. The out of the box itself invalidates this test in every aspect concerning casting distance. I have three tatulas (100, 103SVTW, and Elite), every one came with almost dry bearings. Personally I don't use Shimano stuff, since I can't condone the policy of increasing profit by using cheaper plastic pieces and low quality oscillation systems on it's spinning reeks.
I’d go daiwa regardless. I bought the DC and my release button broke 3 weeks later. I don’t even care if it can cast 20 feet differently at that price this shouldn’t be a problem others have as well.
I do have the slx dc personally it’s not the casting distance that makes the dc worth the $$ it’s the convenience of changing lures without having to worry about settings plus if it’s windy out too
Ryan The Rock No not really I find myself still doing it though just habit you can get a little over run just tweak tension knob a hair but you can whip pretty much any bait out there and let go of the spool
@@THEREELTEST Here in Portugal it's $200 in the store where I shop. The same price as the SV TWS. And now they have a special price and the Elite is $144. I think I will buy one!
Make sure you lubricate the tatula's spool shaft with light oil 2 drops should be enough. Then rematch both same reel you be amazed with the result of the tatula. Love daiwa, shimano and abu.✌
My Curado DC thumb bar broke after 3 weeks and Shimano only repairs it. So I essentially bought a broken/refurbished reel. They would not replace it with a new one. To add insult to injury, they initially told me the reel was in treated badly and was fished in saltwater(I’m FW exclusive). No more Shimano for me, Team Daiwa 4 me.
I have the Tatula Elite P/F and the Curado DC, they are the two current sets, I particularly prefer the Tatula, better ergonomics, it gets out of inertia more easily in precision throws. In addition to the Tatula being better built, the Curado DC appears fragile and has a lot of plastic.
No it's not a real comparison, so take what he's saying with a grain of salt. People click these video's thinking they are going to learn how these reel compare yet he's such a biased hypocrite always talking about fanboy this and fanboy that, you should know instantly your listening to punk ass kid who just got done playing call of duty on his x-box. (Who the heck talks that way about a fishing reel..) To answer your question, No he wont adjust the spool tension knob of the Daiwa reel even though he know's it will make it cast farther, because he claims it comes that way from the factory and that's the recommended setting. What a bad joke... lol, but what do you expect when you get your information from a guy who doesn't have a clue what he's doing and is no better casting than a 8 year old girl. His test's are riddled with holes, often he's using different rod's and different weather condition's for the same comparison video. If you can make it through the lame music, 25 ad's and useless biased information, then all you need to know is buy only Shimano reels, you will probably find a few shoved up is his ass, along with a rod or two with the plastic still on the cork. The empty can rattles the most.
@@dormantmenace I'm a shimano fan too, I have 13 shimano reel's, and about 8 daiwa's and a couple lew's and about 5 Abu's. Shimano's are good reel's. His whole test and attitude towards other people like you, that have asked the same question rubs me the wrong way. It's a great question and when people ask him, he comes at them with the fanboy stuff and a douche attitude. I bet you that he doesn't leave his shimano's on the stock setting from the factory. He know's damn well the zero turn control knob is just a stiff factory setting for novice anglers to set and forget, people that can actually cast adjust it to their preference, and you can get alot more distance adjusting it. His break settings on the daiwa are like 12-10. That's pretty weak thumb control on his part. Never the less each reel has pro's and con's and distance is the only test he actually try's to compare. tackleadvisors shows you how it should be done. Skip this guy, Never trust a pier fisherman with 30grand in combo's. Look for someone that has on the water experience that has a boat. Tacticalbassin is a great source of unbiased information.
Here’s the big difference between the two or any reels in these comparisons. The Daiwas are just more comfortable to fish all day. Shimano usually heavier and bulkier. I don’t care if you get 20 feet extra from a Shimano if it sucks to fish all day.
Ok like the previous comment said, why you didn’t adjust the tension on the Tatula ? How does the factory know what weight your going to throw. So the numbers were close But I want to know the ease of casting not just distance
just to add in 1 advantage curado over tatula you forgot to mention: X-SHIP (double ball bearing supported pinion gear), which tatula don't. in long term, it's will maintain gear smoothness during retrieving, while the one without will get rough in no time.
It don't mantain gear smoothness in most reels, but only on the highspeed/micromodule ones, where the gear teeth tiny size turns them more prone to breaking by vibration.
The Reel Test, First off love the new music-change is good. When I got the notification of the video by email. I laughed. I thought this is no contest. The Diawa is going to lose big time. At the end I was surprised. So I look forward to the upcoming tests. I own 2 Diawa’s and 1 Quantum baitcaster and have been thinking about buying another one and have been scoping out the Shimano’s. I fished their spinning rods and reels for years, ride bikes equipped with their components and always saw them as a quality brand until they started to use plastic gears in their spinning reels of late, so I am on the fence. DC or conventional and all that decision making has me holding on to my money to see what shakes out.
If you are in no rush wait till February to see whats shown at the Japan Fishing shows. Im pretty sure a new Metanium will be released and like I said in the video, the Curado 70 went on clearance so something should be replacing that. If you spring for a DC reel skip the SLX and Curado and get a Scorpion DC.
THE REEL TEST, You said the magic words sale! I was going to review your videos on the 70, what are your thoughts on it. I am a finesse fisher, so small and lightweight are critical.
Dean Gruwell Of course, everyone knows that you have to be over 35 in order to use shimano stuff. That’s old man stuff. It doesn’t have sparkly purple handles, dammit!
Own both multiple Shimano and Daiwa reels. Curado DC, SLX and Tatula 100 and SV. Out of all the SLX is my least favorite. If I had to chose one I guess it would be my Curado DC, but I own more Daiwa's now mainly because I feel for the price the Tatula is a better choice. Great reels.
Great video!!!! What is the biggest fish you can use these reels for? I am in Brazil and fish for Tamba which can be 25-33 kilos, could I either of these reels for this type or size of fish?
How is there so many anglers in the comments stating they have both and Daiwa is the better reel yet according to every single video of yours, the shimano always “wins”? 😅 odd very odd.
skankhunt42 no I am just honest and it’s simple to do two casting tests and after the fact designate the winner as the practice tests and name the other as the winner and I love both products and Daiwa has more touch than Shimano and Shimano has more bombs away but just barely so in most respects the Daiwa is a bit better
I can’t believe you weighed the spools like that really made a difference. Additionally, a one ounce weight difference between the two and you read it off like it was this major difference. LOL
It does make a difference ky bfs reel is 60 buccs and i juust improved the bearings the full ceramic hybrid bearings and cuz the spool is lighter i can cast a 1.5gram lure im pritty sure as far as that lighter stuff on a realbhelps man u can get different bearings for those reels that can make it cast further cuz when the spool is lighter the new bearings help it spin faster fkr making it spin faster on lighter spool
@thereeltest I’m only getting like 50 feet max with with my tatula elite on a 5/8 ounce lure on a 7”2 medium heavy rod on 4 breaks how do you get such a long casting distance? What kinda of rod?
Hello. Do you know how I can test the drag on the Curado DC? I purchased one on ebay for a great price. Today, I went fishing and noticed that the drag was tight but when I reeled my bait in, I saw the spool slip. Any suggestions?
Well after buying for my curado I can say yes it can cast 10 feet farther and was nice BUT... but it’s a pos and the release button broke after 3 weeks... took it back to bass pro and got a daiwa. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the same product they became known for. Sure it cast farther but what’s the point if you own a glass canon. I was gonna just replace it thinking it was a lemon but this is a known issue
Doing these test with mono or fluro is a waste for some of these reels when they throw braid 50’ further. And I know that they’re all throwing the same line but some reels throw some lines better than others and that same reel may throw a different line worse than others.
my sv and tc both beat the hell out of my dc as far as long casting... these reviews are biased as hell this kid has some serious prejudice against dawaii
After you break that tatula in or adjust it like the dc I know it’ll go farther but both are solid. It really comes down to if you like magnetic or not.
???, which shimano dc has the best whine noise... Have you heard the 2019 calcutta conquest dc whine also, please do a American review. Looking to get a high end dc for holidays
If I needed another reel or buying, my first more costly reel the Shimano DC reel would be my choice. Regardless of casting distance, I would always choose easy use first. The Shimano may cost a few dollars more but you get a lot more reel for a little more money spent for a DC reel.
I own the Shimano Curad dc as well it’s just silly to compare them constantly let’s face it they both have pros and cons and Daiwa is the best on the HIGH end omitting the Stella and both companies have turned their back on loyal customers in order to fatten their pocketsI like both companies and the old saying was Shimano for spinning and Daiwa for casting just saying
I just refunded my curaDO DC BECAUSE IT WOULD BACKLASH ALL THE TIME AND cast distance was atrocious! My Abu Garcia Silvermax was casting twice the distance. Just like with guns, the more bell and whistles, the more opportunities for failure. And Shimano customer service SUCKS!!!
