Your wife is donating a kidney? Wow! Talk about sacrifice and courage! Your wife is a real hero! I hope everything goes well for her and her recipient! Great luck to all of you.!
@@gastondraco5906 that's because you're self centered. Save your own skin attitude. Sarge knows of sacrifice. He says he served in Iraq and I'll take his word for it. That took sacrifice. Something this generation knows nothing about.
Sir I must agree! My wife just got the stainless model and I couldn't believe how nice the trigger was along with the accuracy! Its her first revolver and she already wants another one. Great gun for $300. Thanks for your service to our country.
I was so blessed to hear that your wife is donating her kidney I have a 24-year-old son that had to lose his kidney and we're worried about it but we trust in the Lord with the Lord bless you and your wife for being so good people I thank you so much WalterGod bless and I like the way you explained about the 605 because I just bought one today thank you
Taurus 605 .357 was the first handgun i ever bought. I loved it. Unfortunately someone broke into my truck in the middle of the night and stole it out of my glovebox
Just shot the Taurus 605 about a week ago...good God, that fucking thing is packing heat! I had a few other shooters come over to my station to investigate what kind of monster gun I was shooting. Definitely buying one for the home protection and camping.
I just bought one this past weekend and I love it. They sold it to me thinking it was it was just a .38 special. Needless to say I got a great deal on it lol!
Just bought a Taurus 66 4" for just under $400. This smaller 605 will become part of my arsenal soon and I can get it in my area of Minnesota for about $300. I have many orthopedic problems that limit me to largely handguns nowadays but I hope that changes over time. Thanks for your video sir. Many blessing to you and your wife.
I love mine! I went in to buy ammo, and came out with the 605. I just couldn't let a .357 for less than 3 Benjamins go. You're correct about recoil, I can't tell much Difference between it and my S&W j frame .38. I hope your wife is doing well, it's not everyone who'd donate an organ to someone! 🙏🙏
I just bought the polymer framed one today at the gun show. It fits in my pocket and because it is smooth and rounded doesn’t snag on my clothing. It feels real good in the hand and points very nicely. I am looking forward to shooting it.
Last year I bought the 627ss .357 (7 shot) and the wife and I were so impressed with it that we started doing some homework on their other wheel guns. She came across the 605B and liked how it felt so we purchased it a month ago. So here's my take on the 605B.......last week I went back and purchased one just for me.... If that doesn't say something I dont know what would. Super nice to carry, light enough to not bother you, yet JUST heavy enough to know it's there. I like it so much that the wife and I are actually thinking of buying a third one as a gift to her mom.
Bought mine in stainless steel for $300 out the door. Absolutely love the gun. Absolutely hate the recoil of a 357. So I practice with 38. And carry 357. I have been carrying a 357 snub nose for about 25 years. Recoil never bothered me till I turned 60. I guess I'm just not the man I used to be
Thanks for the review. I have only used long guns but I was looking for a pistol for home protection. This video seals the deal on the Taurus 605 for my first pistol purchase.
Mighty good of your wife to give her kidney to someone in need. We live in such a taking generation. No one gives anything anymore. Everyone is entitled. I'm grateful that the Lord still puts good people on his earth. People who serve instead of demanding service. God bless her and you will get prayers sir. Thank you for your service sarge. Like the pistol btw
I've always had good success with Taurus. Good value and good guns. I have a Model 65 I've owned for 30 years and 1000's of rounds through it later still a great shooter. I have 2 PT111's never had a FTF or FTE ever. Also have a Model 617 stainless I've had about 25 years that's treated me the same. I did recently pick up a "used" Model 85 DAO Blued I don't think ever had more than a cylinder or 2 through it on Gun Broker for $160.00. I also picked up a N.I.B. stainless 605 on G.B. for $240.00. and $20.00 S&H. My FFL only charges $20.00 so I got a great feeling and SHOOTING revolver for a great price. Both the 85 and 605 have pretty nice triggers. I have no complaints and they are more accurate than most can take advantage of without serious practice, especially double action, the way it will most likely be deployed. Snubbie's are not for the "set it and forget it" crowd. They're great at what they're made to do, if you do your part. I've never felt under gunned carrying a 5 shot revolver (Chief's Special)for years. Bobbed hammer and Hip Grip extremely concealed AND comfortable. Still in the rotation even though I have new horses in the stable... Enjoy you're new Iron!
Yours is about the 8th review on the 605 I've watched - all have been very favorable. I'm a 9mm carry guy, but I think I'm going to get one this weekend. Thanks for the review.
My wife carries this pistol. The only modifications were to paint the front sight, and take a little super glue to permanently disable the trigger lock in the back of the hammer. Didn't want ANY chance of recoil causing the screw to turn to the lock position, and take her defensive weapon out of action. Great gun. She has no trouble handling .357 magnum loads.... but then again, she was a shooter before I married her.
I picked up one at Buds this week and went to the range before all the games today (Sat), and this thing is absolutely a better shooter than my S&W 640. I mainly just shoot 38spl or +p, the trigger is really smooth in double action, and crisp in single, its about the same, maybe a bit heavier than my 627 PC. I did fire some Buffalo Bore 158 357 out of it, and that was only moderately awful. The 10oz that this has over some of the airweights makes a bug difference, a 340/360PD is a serious wrist buster. I was going to get a 66 combat magnum, but the $400 difference and one inch and round just isn't worth it, since I mainly either carry 38 PDX1's or a Kahr CM9 since its summer and shorts are the order of the day. The 605 is a bit heavy for pocket carry with the Desantis pocket holsters, but it will fit in all my kydex IWB Theis holsters for J frames and about the same weight as my larger BP9CC and much lighter than my G19/VP9 winter carry. Plus, $400 buys lots of ammo to play with.
The Taurus 605 is a good shooter. I am shooting a 3 in target at 20 yards. When I backpack, around people, it conceals well. What he says about accuracy is true. God bless your wife
Sarge,Glad to see you back and I will continue my prayers for your wife and family. Thanks for the video. I was thinkkng about purchasing a handgun. I will definitely have to check this one out. Thanks again!
The 605. Bought one at academy for 229, taxes included. What a steal! I found it at dahlonega armory for 239.70. They not only matched the price, but took off 5 percent! And gave me 15 dollars off for using my academy credit card. With a good box of ammo it was right at 250 out the door. I love it as muh as my ruger gp100. Honestly. Specially what I paid for it
To Mr Serge I was told that Taurus triggers are plastic. ? Or trigger mechanism is plastic. Can it be replaced to metal? God bless the wife with her surgery.
If im not mistaken, the "protector poly" model is also a model 605 .357mag/.38 special.... U said in the video that the protector poly was only in .38 special. Maybe things have changed in 7 years but i just picked up my Taurus 605 Poly Protector .357/.38 spl the other day.
I carry the same pistol in a fobus paddle holster and its very comfortable, I bought some bright florescent orange finger nail polish for the front sight , for my aging eyes, good gun
I have the 605 and love it. My only issue with it was that the large "bull head" grip interferes with speed loaders so I ordered the old style grips Taurus used to sell it with, direct from Taurus, and put those on it. Problem solved. I carry two full Safariland J-C7 speed loaders with it.
I have both these exact guns and love them both. Great vid. The grips are an improvement over the old 605's. Love the grip on the Poly. I just started carrying the 605 concealed.
I'm thinking about making this my first gun. I don't want to break the bank if revolvers aren't for me and this seems like a solid piece at a low price.
I have one of these and I love it. I found some nice wooden panel grips for mine which doesn't block the gap behind the trigger guard so I can get a nice high and tight grip on it. I keep Buffalo Bore 180gr 357 LFN slugs in mine and it's ready to defend my life, dog and home. I have a 617 as well also loaded up with some nice stout rounds. That one has a nice blued finish on it. I'd love to get a 1st issue 605 with blued finish and notch on the front of the ejector rod shroud.
Howling Sarge, you should get the Ati grip for Taurus 605 cause the grip is extremely comfortable and feels so much better and you can get all your fingers on the grip.
I just picked one of these up. Can't wait to shoot it. Thank you for your service, and thank you for your straight-forward review and for your faith commitment.
Picked up my second 605 yesterday, I sold my first one a couple of years ago, stupid decision, but I’m happy again. Mine is an early 2000 model, I prefer older Taurus revolvers, one with the glossy blue finish. You can’t go wrong with the 605, highly recommended if you are into revolvers.
Hey the new taurus 605 357 defender 357mag/38 3"barrel is sweet I ordered mine with the cerakote finish Altamont wood grips sweet waiting for it to come in. I also have the new taurus 856 6rds 38 all are SWEET. DO AN UPGRADE PLEASE 2022 IS THE YEAR!!!
love and prayers. to your good lady like the show its a pity over here with even the best gun factory in Europe 50miles away FN Belgian. we can t take advantage of your expertise, crooks get to carry police get to carry civilians can only duck for cover keep the information coming we'll be passing by one day with a suitcase😇😉😈
I just got a M605 Taurus Polly protector 357mag brown used for less then $220 but 158g magnums are a hand full Muzzle rise way worse than my Roger GP 100 But it's just gonna be a backup may just run 38+p's in it the 605 357 is just hard on my riest
Taurus 605 is a good gun. Sold em for years. I do not suggest shooting a steady diet of the realy HOT .357 magnuns in any of the small framed magnums. Sure a few shots is fine but dont do it consistently.
I have the three inch barrel version. I love the gun and is my primary ccw. However, Taurus messed it up. It shot my twin brother with bullet fragments. i sent it to them on their dime to get it serviced. turns out it's forcing cone was too small so it was shaving the copper off of bullets. they also replaced components in the trigger. now its so tight my wife cant shoot it DA, and SA is noticeably heavier. I'm also having an issue with the gun rusting. it needs to be oiled regularly.
I always liked Taurus. Just a thought ? Could it be that you just got lucky , maybe you got 1 of 1000 , or 1 of 500 that came out of the factory that was spot on ? Or has other "605" owners claimed that their's was accurate as well ? Like I said , I never had any issues with any Taurus I had in the past. I believe the first Taurus I purchased was in the late seventies or very early 80's , it had a 4" bull barrel in .38 spl and shot very well. Thanks for the video ! May your wife be blessed and everything go well for her , God bless you both .
If you like that one you should try the 856 series of Taurus I have it hammerless and I'm in love with it too and I have the poly protector you all right very accurate powerful too mine is all stainless steel
My son's 605 is a let-down. During a day of shooting (after only shooting about 60 rounds), all the spent cartridges stuck in the cylinder. Would not eject with normal pressure on the ejector rod, almost had to get my mallet. However, my Judge PE, over 1k rounds spent, no issues ever... Love my Judge.
I hope your wife's surgery went well. I'm shopping around for something my 84 year-old mother can shoot. She doesn't have much hand strength. How hard is the trigger pull on that revolver?
An interesting experiment would be to chrono some .357s, .38s, and some Buffalo Bore cowboy load .357s which are loaded up to .38 pressures and see what you get.
Taurus now has the 692, or as I call it, the perfect pistol for preppers, with the push of a button, the shooter can swap between 357/38 to a 9mm Luger cylinder... I just wish it hadn't come out so soon after I got my Blackhawk 357/9mm
All the best to you and your Wife. It's a great thing she's doing. I like wheel guns of all sorts. How rough is the double action? What works well for me when carry a revolver concealed, I go with a bobbed hammer and DAO. I'm going to take a look at these.
Jeff Wise The trigger is amazing on this little gun! My wife just got one not to long ago and its amazing for $300. I hate most DAO guns (mainly cause I'm not to good with them) but I cant believe how nice the trigger on this gun is. We both shot this gun very well and I attribute that to the DAO trigger.
DAO requires a lot of practice. Smoothing out the lock work is a given. Also reworking the or replacing the hammer with a factory DAO piece. More practice.
I am in the market to get a snub .357 and as I do my research, I am most definitely getting one. With your insights, I will not be letting my wife shoot it because she will confiscate it from me. She loves her S&W snub .38 nd we can let her keep it that way.
