Quality control should NEVER be an issue when you’re paying $1.00+ per round. That first primer strike looked perfectly adequate. Underwood needs to hear about this IMHO.
I wouldn't tell someone else what to do...but i personally would not run any +p and especially not +p+ 9mm out of a micro pistol, and honestly, i don't do it out of anything other than full size 4 inch or better 9mm pistols, and preferably nothing other than da/sa hammer fired guns. You will certainly get away with it until you don't...and it has nothimg to do with the gun exploding, it has to do with the gun breaking, especially when you might really need it. But to each their own... I do really appreciate the tests and am grateful for them, you have saved me lots of money on bad ammo over the years. Thank you.
Shooting hot rounds is fun. I consider it important that the gun will fire anything you happen to have because that might be all that is available but for carry I would choose a mild recoiling round that still expands so I carry the Winchester Defense (black box) 115 hollow point (same as the old Winchester white box) at 1075fps from a 3 inch barrel that expand after going through cloth armored gel and provide 16 inches of penetration. Added bonus, I can still find them for less than $25 per box of 50.
I love underwood too, but i did get a pierced primer with their 38 hardcast 'bear' load once. Round went off and i didn't notice less power or anything, but, heads up.
The mags don't listen well !! My 15 rd mags in my carry after a year still struggle to get 15 and rack the gun there just tight as hell and I even kept them loaded always ..but the gx4carry runs like A beast
I was going to buy a GX4 and I still might. That sight was melting and I could see residue on the slide. I already have a Ruger EC9s with steel sights.
