I thought DoubleTap 158gr Bonded JHP recoil from my S&W 340PD ultra light Scandium was severe, so I can't even imaging this being safe in my Scandium revolver!
Out of a 2” barrel If you’re probably better off launching 125gr soft points for deep penetration, or 125gr gold dot hp for self defense. The lighter loads get better velocity from short barrels.
I am not a fashionista. I love that handgun though. My problem is the four layers of denim test. Ridiculous. Assuming you’re shooting at a bad guy the likelihood of them wearing two pairs of denim pants and you’re shooting him in the ass pocket or next to zero. Just would love to know how Experts came up with four layers. The closest thing I can come up with is a really good car heart heavy weather halt. Certainly don’t want to be shooting the truckers are farmers. Back to the main thing you did excellent demo there thank you thank you
Has anyone ever tried to run 180 grain 357 BB through a ruger sp 101. Would that damage the gun? Owners manual says it should handle sammi ammo fine but I am concerned that the additional pressure might mess up the cylinder alignment.
If when empty the slide moves back by hand and it locks and stays open the rounds were probably a little bit weak and not pushing the slide back enough to engage the lock
👍👍great test but I would hate to shoot that out of a snub nose. It would definitely do the job but I wonder how many people could stay on target for a second shot.
Gotta love some Buffalo bore! It kicks like a mule out of a snub, but it will always be consistent, and will work as intended. Got a ruger sp101 with their 125 Heavies. It's a riot to shoot and looks like a flashbang in your hand.
I just tested Federal 158+P LSWCP vs UW Standard old Red Coating...through 4 layer tshirt "Light Clothing"....UW did not do well one shot 2" one shot 3"
"Modern Meat Target" Tested 124 gr Fiocchi Defense Dynamics vs Federal punch in both Short & Long Barrels ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e22hwbbevgQ.html
I used to own a Rossi Puma model 92 carbine with a saddle ring. It was my truck gun for many years. I harvested many deer with it and three elk. I liked it so much I bought a Rossi model 92 .44 mag. which I didn't like. The barrel was much thinner and after just a couple shots the group would spread a lot. I sold it to a dude wrangler for a camp gun. Since those days I bought a Ruger M77/.357 and haven't looked back. It's got an old Weaver K2.5 scope I wouldn't trade for any new scope. I load my own ammunition so I can match or exceed any factory ammunition.
I use 180 grain HSM bear loads in a 4" S&W Model 19. They only clock 1000 fps but aren't too hot to handle. Out of a 16" carbine they average 1400 fps. I don't care for 2" magnums because they produce more recoil than useful velocity.
This is the problem with .380. This round give good expansion, but insufficient penetration. To get enough penetration in .380 you basically have to give up expansion.
YEEEOOOOZA! That one had to be a fun one to shoot in a snubbie. The 158 gr 357 Mag load from BB in my S&W mod 60 is a thumper. This 180 has really got to kick in a little gun
This is great news - I have these Buffalo Barnes and Double Tap solid copper HP. My DT 110gr are Barnes as well. Is there any chance you could test the DoupleTap Ammo 110gr +P copper HP?
It looks like all the shots were hitting POA. I think it's more an inexpensive pistol rather than a cheap one. I own one myself. I'm also a revolver guy so I don't see having 8 rounds as a handicap, especially since I have a spare 7 and a spare 9 round.
My personal list is 1. Underwood Extreme Defender 90 grain 2. Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P 3. Federal HST 124 grain +P The Defenders perform so well but are expensive. Gold Dots are bonded and seem to penetrate barriers better. HSTs when they mushroom are so nice but don't perform in barriers as well as Defenders or Gold Dots. Prices reflect the performance as Underwood's are $1.10 a round, Gold Dots are $0.60 a round and HSTs are $0.57 a round. I stack HSTs as the price is appealing.
Thanks for making this video. I have a J-frame clone 605 Defender 3" and got this ammo due to black bear taking interest in my fly fishing. I fish where there was a black bear fatality.
