I'm a Glock guy, own other gun brands too but I love my GX4; have two of them actually. The GX4 is my primary daily carry as it has been reliable, accurate and has a good trigger.

Ever have any problems with the finish? I always considered a Cerakote job to be part of the base cost of a GX4, because if you don't Cerakote it brand new, you probably will in a couple months or a year or two if you actually carry/shoot it, because the finish just falls apart. It gets scratched and wears off from things that just shouldn't be able to cause damage or wear to any handgun finish.

I own the GX4 and LCPMax. I've owned a G3C, and fired my son-in-law's Glock 43X. I love the Gx4, I carry it more than my P365Xl. I'm carrying the LCP Max at work right now. It's so small and light. I alternate it out with the GX4. The G3C was ok. I sold it to buy the GX4. I didn't care for the Glock. My son in law doesn't either now, and wishes he had a P365Xl.

The front sight did come loose on the first range trip with the GX4. I replaced it with an Ameriglo and used blue Loctite. I've since gotten the TORO slide and put a Holosun 407K on it. Its better than my P365XL Romeo, but doesn't co-witness like the Romeo.

I would love to see if the GX4 fits in the G43 holster. Besides the shorter barrel/slide on the GX4, the guns are very similar in size and shape... and if you go on "handgun hero" to compare the two, the GX4's trigger guard fits well within the G43's trigger guard shape. That makes me think that a GX4 will fit in a G43 holster. I think the biggest difference though is that the GX4's trigger guard is wider (especially in the back) and it's also tapered, so it's thicker in the back near the grip and gets thinner towards the front... but even the thinner front is still wider than a G43 trigger guard. I think that would require some adjustment for the gun to fit in a G43 holster, but I think it would work if ever necessary. (Although I don't recommend to ever put a gun in a holster that was not intended for it. The one lady that sued SIG for her P320 going off lost her lawsuit, because she put her P320 in a holster made for a P22X model handgun... and that caused the holster to pull the trigger on her P320 about 95% of the way, which disabled her striker safety and left the striker on the very, very edge of the sear... just waiting to go off from a bump or shock. If you ever do put a handgun in a holster that was not intended for it, then it's extremely important to make sure nothing dangerous like that can happen... and also, you do it at your own risk.)

Not a bad trade at all. I would definitely take that. I love the GX4 and very much prefer the smaller, easier to conceal handguns in almost every single case... but it's such a good deal I wouldn't turn it down. There's also nothing on a Glock that can't be easily fixed... and in the majority of cases it will cost very little to no money at all.

@johnnyshootsalot
@johnnyshootsalot Год назад
I still like the G43 for a lot of reasons, but the GX4 does make you question it's place in the marketplace. If I was not into just buying a bunch of guns I don't necessarily "need" for collecting purposes, and I was shopping for a micro 9mm for daily carry, it would be hard to legitimately choose the glock over the GX4. However, I don't see a realistically practical reason to NEED more than the 8 rounds you get with the g43 and the Taran Tactical +1 mag extension. Now, as a range tool or competition gun, the GX4 has several obvious advantages in that respect. I have shot against several folks in the IDPA compact class that had g43s, and that increased capacity I had was a big deal.

Good video I have the GX 4 and the Glock 43 I think that the GX 4 trigger is far better than the Glock 43 once you get a few hundred rounds through the gx4 its very nice trigger. No spongyness it's got a little bit of take up and a crisp wall that's at more of a 90° anglewhere the Glock 43 has that spongy trigger into brake further back in the gun the Glock 43 demands greater trigger control both are great.

Good video Johnny. My new GX4 ran 244 flawless rounds down range first time out, sight stayed put and no trigger malfunctions. I've now ran 500 rounds and no problems what so ever. I will say that I ordered the front night sight from Taurus and the cheap ass screw broke when I was installing on the gun with very little torque of the allen wrench, trying to contact Taurus for a new screw.

I was surprised that you said the Glock had the best trigger. I believe the GX4 trigger destroys Glock triggers. Glocks are one of the worst triggers on the market.
@johnnyshootsalot
@johnnyshootsalot Год назад
Everybody's idea of what a "goog" trigger is is different, but the general consensus is largely that Glock triggers are usually pretty good for striker fired pistols and that the Sig triggers are the worst and are super spongy. I would say I agree with that. The GX4 trigger is very good, and is a big step up from the G3 series.

@@johnnyshootsalot I actually prefer the 8lb connector in a G43. It's a little heavier, but it has a later, more defined wall and a much shorter break and reset. It's more like a single action... and if you do a trigger job, you can get the weight down a lot and have an amazing trigger. I much prefer a heavier trigger for CCW though. One reason I don't like the P320 and P365 is because their triggers are too short and too light. I think the GX4 is a good "in-between", because they're almost like a hybrid of the two triggers. On one hand it's like a SIG, because it has the rotating, drop-down sear... but on the other hand it's kind of like a Glock, because the trigger bar has to pull/push the sear and striker rearward before the striker is released. It's kind of a neat safety mechanism and I always like it, because it's a unique design that's only used by Taurus.

All great guns. Love the GX4. One of the best designed handguns. Not sure about the precise workings of the trigger group... but the gun design otherwise is very well thought out. Love the stamped sheet metal Chassis (like on the P320, The Pico, Nano, APX, Savage Stance and some other good guns). Simple and effective without being over-complicated or expensive.

its very fair to compare these glock 43's considering taurus made these with the glock 43 in mind hence the interchangeable sights between them and the design of the palm swells and trigger guard. the gx4 is not a totally unique firearm , its clear taurus essentially combined the two most popular carry pistols at the time the g43 and the p365.

@johnnyshootsalot
@johnnyshootsalot Год назад
Eh... I had a motorcycling only channel for a while. Kawasaki, Yamaha, Buell, Ducati, ect... But that's unsustainable for the most part. You can check it out at Roadraceguy on RU-vid. As far as the GX4 is concerned, it's one of the best values out right now. I've run several thousand rounds through mine and it's still pretty solid. Slide stop is having some minor issues, but I'll talk about that in an upcoming video.
@SquireSCA
@SquireSCA Год назад
@@johnnyshootsalot See, I was much more on the gun and knife side of things, but RU-vid kept shadow banning and demonetizing my gun content, for no reason.. So I had to put in more bike stuff to boost the views. Triumph, Ducati, Aprilia, and now Yamaha and Kawasaki stuff. Started including track days and mods and stuff and that helped. RU-vid isn't 2AM friendly, and it was impossible to make any money on that stuff, so now I just sprinkle in a little here and there, and that seems to work...

@deucedeuce1572
@deucedeuce1572 3 месяца назад
When the 42 came out it was STUPID to me that they used the thick walled polymer magazines, because there was no magazine compatibility to worry about. They could have easily used steel mags and increased capacity to 8 (flush)... and then when the 43 came out I just thought it was ridiculous that they didn't do the same, or even make slightly wider, higher capacity magazines like the P365 (that came out not much later). I think that was Glocks greatest blunder. The P365 was what the G43 should have been. The G43x isn't bad with the 15rd shield magazines.. but I really wish they made a shorter version, like the P365 and GX4 (or the CR920, which is exactly what the G43 should have been).

@johnnyshootsalot
@johnnyshootsalot Год назад
It's comical to believe that 99.999% of the firearms in America are tools for killing an enemy. I genuinely mean no direct disrespect to you, fella, but that mode of thinking is derivative of watching too many movies and TV shows. The reality of the matter is that the VAAASSTT majority of guns and gun owners never engage with an enemy of any type, and their beloved firearms are almost exclusively used for fun and recreation. (I include hunting in that recreational category.) Now, I'm not saying that many arms aren't carried in CASE there's a need for defensive measures, but the hard data and statistics say there's little chance of that situation occurring for the large majority of owners and every day carriers.

The GX4 is a cool pistol and I wanted to like it, but Taurus has terrible quality control and this little gun has lots of engineering issues. The trigger while feeling really good is made out of the thinnest plastic and is suffering from a problem in peoples guns that when pulled too hard to the left will result in a dead reset. Then there are stories of the firing pins disintegrating after 500-1000 rounds. I wouldn't recommend Taurus products to trust your life with.

The triggers plastic is thick...not thin. Second firing pins do not disintegrate.....my gx4 is flawless so far. My kimber has had teething issues but nobody trashes them like people with hearsay stories do to Taurus...heck even sig with the p320 and p365 major problems seems everybody gives them a pass.
@deucedeuce1572
@deucedeuce1572 3 месяца назад
@@dmcd7333 Yeah, no company can account for every single problem that may arise. They do their best to release a good quality, reliable, safe firearm... and sometimes things don't always work as planned. No company can test fire millions of handguns... so they build and test as many as they can... and when they prove the firearms to be reliable and safe, they put them on the market. Then, the less common problems are able to make themselves known. When that happens, it's up to the company on how they choose to address the problems. I hate when people say things like "Company X uses their customers to test their products" as if that's not what every single other company does. Many of these problems are impossible to be known by the company until millions of guns are sold/fired and people have problems with them. Then, there are problems you see that are caused by specific batches (like when SIG had a bad batch of firing pins that weren't heat treated right). People want to act like SIG is a terribly company, because of that, but the Truth is that the same thing could happen to any company. No amount of quality control (on SIGs part) could have detected those bad firing pins. Many of those guns were even test fired and in test firing, it's unlikely that any of them broke during testing too, because they normally only break after 100s of rounds. People don't seem to care though. They care more about popular opinion than they care about the Truth or about being fair. Forgive the rant. It's one of those things that I see a lot and it's bothersome seeing people indifferent and unfair, because of their own ignorance and pride.
