I bought one to train and save on ammo since I picked shooting as a hobby last year. (I also have a 9mm G3C...with a bunch of after market upgrades.) Replaced the factory front sight on my TX22 with a fiber optic, but other than that, I liked it a lot right out of the box. It eats absolutely everything, but I mostly use CCI SV or MM 40 grain. (For me, CCI MMs run the cleanest and seem to be the most accurate.) Great job on the vid and review! Had I not already owned one, this video definitely would've helped me decide if it was worth buying one.👍👍 one, it would've definitely helped if I was considering whether it was worth picking one up.

Rapid-fire, fist-sized groups at 7-yards makes this little handgun my preferred carry option. I can pop off 4 or 5 shots very fast and hitting all within 3 inches of center-of-mass (using 29-grain Federal Punch flat-tips @ 1250fps) gives me confidence as a personal defense sidearm. Recommend thoroughly cleaning the mags and making this routine after every trip to the range. This one extra step eliminates so many misfires. Lastly, practice keeping the trigger hand thumb parallel to the off hand thumb, as the mag release can be accidentally engaged with a low trigger thumb presentation. It’s the most fun gun I’ve ever fired, and I can shoot it 300+ times without any fatigue

I just got this as my first .22 to start training my wife. I usually use my 9mm pistols at the range, but last time I used this Taurus for a bit and had a blast. I think that I've gone through about 100 rounds with no issues so far. The recoil impulse is next to nothing so it's easy to go through rounds super quick.

Since getting that one I was planning on getting the regular one to use with only sights, but then this came out. I’ve decided to go with it instead, plus you can add a dot to it too. this is an incredible 22 pistol. I have bought Taurus handguns in the past and I swore I'd never buy another pos taurus...but the price was right and I wanted a plinker for the range. Boy was I surprised. Easily...not even close the most reliable semi-auto 22 I have ever owned...it's not even close. I've put about 500 rounds through mine and not one...NOT A SINGLE malfunction. Name another 22 semi-auto than can compete with that in this price range. You won't find one. Not only that..it's a blast to shoot and impressively accurate. I can mag dump a half dollar size pattern at 7 yards easily.

G2 and G3 series has good quality control. All standard TX22 handguns have issue with sharp edge of recoil spring damaging the slide and eventually causing it to crack. Lakeline sells a recoil assembly with a Delrin buffer to protect the slide. There are a few other options. Taurus has shipped defective barrels. My original 2 magazine caused failures eventually within 1 year warranty so were replaced under warranty. Owners need to learn proper technique to load rounds in mag so they stagger properly.

I would like to see Federal Auto Match used in your reviews as it one of the least expensive rounds that I have found and is still reliable in all my 22LR rifles and handgun. It is available locally at Walmart or online for lower price from Bucking Horse Outpost which makes it one that many use or have at least tried at some point. Norma Tac-22 is widely available and provide tight groups for my TX22 and Tikka T1X rifle. Some guns like it and some do not. CCI Standard Velocity is another favorite that is not expensive and provide good groupings for some rifles. Both CCI SV and Tac-22 are subsonic. If you want ammo that most say is not good buy just about any Winchester 22LR. Many say Remington Thunderbolts do not cycle properly in their guns.

IMHO all things considered I think this is the best dollar for dollar compact 22lr on the market. I have the Keltec P17 but the finish and ergos are way better on this. The keltec is lighter and holds more ammo but IDC because this taurus just feels better especially with the optic cut. Throw a dot on it and its a tack driver. The only other compact 22lr I like is the FN 522 which is super nice, but costs and weighs considerably more than the previous mentioned 22's.
@tulsavol6653
@tulsavol6653 Год назад
I own both the TX22 Compact and it's big brother TX 22. I have about a dozen 22lr handgun semi autos. The TX 22 COMPACT Is No 1 (really a tie with the first TX22). Next is Ruger SR 22 Compact; then S&W M&P 22 Compact. Honorable Mentions are the Ruger LCP II 22 and the Kel-Tech P17.
@TerenceGrier
@TerenceGrier 9 месяцев назад
What are your thoughts on the keltec p17 vs the tx22 compact ??
@tulsavol6653
@tulsavol6653 9 месяцев назад
Tx22Compact is hands down the best value over the Kel-Tech P-17. The P-17 in a unique design with just the top of its slide which lets gasses leave on both sides; it is extremely light weight. It can be picky on some ammo but runs CCI and Aquila dependably and several others. I put a fitted grip tape on mine which dressed it up a lot and made the grip much nicer functionally as well. This is a fine range practice 22 lr and with the right ammo would have it at bedside along with a revolver but would not carry it for self defense. My favorites (but very pricey) 22lr revolvers to carry are Smith and Wesson’s 43C or Rutgers LCR IN 22lr. Favorite 22lr defensive round is the Winchester SilverTip which is a segmented bullet…think it is better for not over penetration in an apt or condo.

@tulsavol6653
@tulsavol6653 4 месяца назад
@@toddm9501 I don’t have a red dot on my TX22 Compact but it is red dot ready. Between the full sized TX 22 and the newer TX22 Compact, I would get the Compact-easier to rack; full open ejection chamber (compared to TX 22 right side), easier for concealed carry and comparable to its big brother for accuracy and reliability. It really depends on what you like the best between the two semi-autos. I really like the 22lr small cartridge-way more affordable ammo and therefore can shoot it more often. As an aside, I lived in Iowa for six years; but was glad that my alma mater Tennessee Vols won the Citrus Bowl over the Hawkeyes! Ordinarily I am also an Iowa and Iowa State (wife’s alma mater) fan.

@GBGuns
@GBGuns Год назад
Thank you. The Bucket O Bullets is fun and convenient, but I think the rounds tend to beat themselves up during transport, plus it gets filthy in the bucket with lead dust rubbing off everywhere. As a result they're cheaper and tend to be a good "worst case" test bed for ammo. One of the rounds that surprisingly fed and fired was wobbling in the case as I loaded it into the magazine. I could see, hear, and feel the projectile shaking around. I'm curious about the Sig 22 after seeing others have mixed experiences. Good to hear you've had a positive experience.

Sent back to Taurus, they put 26 round through it none suppressed (knowing already that it functioned with no suppressor, and that it only had issues when suppressed). I called after receiving the pistol back and was told that if it functions without a suppressor, they don’t care and will not be fixing anything. I had high hopes that Taurus was starting to turn around from the terrible company they’ve known to be in the past, unfortunately they are still the same company.
