It is done by "Regulations" not laws. The Govt knows how to force people to serve them. They can and will use regulations to lein and levy your house or anything you own. Once they do that- you cannot force them to remove it. I KNOW this from personal experience. People who claim otherwise have NEVER gotten in the ring and fought the US GOVT. You will not win unless you own almost nothing. But I own a house with lots of equity and they have it locked down so I can never sell or refinance it until I pay them the outrageous tax they claim I owe. They HAVE the power to force sale of my house to pay them. That is a power no government should have. But they do. Lay low and pay them or they can destroy your life and wont mind doing so.
@Los Yes but I did fight until my money and time were all wasted. I would do it different now. I would sell the house immediatley and spend the money on things that they cannot lein. Then I would be poor again and go in and offer a very low settlement. They often take these low offers from people without wealth. They see it as mercy. But if you have any wealth there will be NO MERCY and they care not what horrors the working man endures at their abuse. Poverty is the only weapon that works to stop them. BY entering into negotiations with any wealth they will show NO mercy in your complete financial destruction. Tax collectors have treated the working people this way since civilizatioin began. I KNOW how the works and what it does to you. I also know how to beat them as long as you do it at the very beginning of the audit process. Tax attorneys will never tell you this secret as they want to collect all your money by fighting the IRS before the IRS gets it.. Then they they say they have "saved you from the IRS" LOL I am still in the middle of all this and they started raping me in 2008. I am no closer to ending it than the day it started and it has ruined my retirement years. Sad now knowing there was a good way to stop them even it is too late for me. Maybe I can help others.

When are they going to pass a law that allows you to deduct your tax payment from your taxable income? Until then we are paying taxes on their tax revenue. We also do not get to charge late payments or interest on underpayments from the govt.
If you have 50k debt to the IRS it is very likely that you made enough to accumulate equity and so forth to pay. This compromise program being accepted I would suspect is rare.
Not a fan of this show, but that guy just took my anxiety down about 75% I just found out I owe 3,800. Morethan I've ever got in a return. Side note it's not fair that because i don't have kids I owe an extra 5,000 than someone with kids. Heck with overpopulation and environmental issues the person with no kids should get more money back call it a kickback for lessening the stress of road, not using the school system, not creating welfare, not adding to the already problematic environmental stress. I've recycled for 13 years and I only buy environmentally friendly materials, i have an old honda that gets good gas mileage for work, I could go on and on. I know people in the widwest that have several kids they don't have time to drive around looking for a plastic bin that gets moved every month to a hidden location (on purpose). I spend extra time doing stuff most people with children never even consider. They definitely dont read labels on food packaging and chemicals. wheres my check for 5-10 thousand dollars
I have never owed taxes. Always filed. And since I got divorced. My ex gets the exemption (default family court ruling) even though she gets $12,000 a year in support. In 2018 I ended up flipped $4000 to the IRS. I was shocked. I had already paid $20,000 in taxes. I didn't make six figures. And still owed another $4000. I'm now making payments with taxes income to pay my taxes.
You got it backwards big 10 trucker if you are not reporting your income you will end up like Wesley Snipes. You have to file but no laws are in place to make you pay or charge you with a crime for not paying.
Not filing only works if you aren't caught. Once you are in their sights- they can and will lein and levy your personal property. I have spent a fortune trying to fight them and in the end they will win. You are only challenging the US GOVT to a showdown that you cannot win. But good luck.
