Thank you so much for being so informative. I was so reluctant to try the TFSA but now I’m going in full force. Thanks a lot

Thanks fir the informative video. My question is does Retirement Annuity count as TFSA. Because im contributing to my RA and I have TFSA account with EE, so will my contributions to my RA count towards the TFSA limits?

Thank you for this information. Just a question though, can you have an easy equities tax free savings account and a bank tax free savings account at same time?

Hey there, yes you can. However, it is important to remember your annual TFSA limit. (You cannot exceed the limit across all TFSAs in your name). Check out our FAQ for more info on this topic - support.easyequities.co.za/support/solutions/articles/5000622256-what-is-a-tax-free-savings-account-tfsa-

Thanks so much. I have a question: is the 33k/year the capital that I invest or the allowance of profits ( interest/ gains/ dividends) that I can get per year?

How can I buy index tracking funds via the U.S markets? I see so much on ETFs but I'm really after the index tracking funds
@easyequities3558

HI Stephanie - you can invest in US ETFs in 2 ways: 1. Via your EE ZAR or TFSA account. There are a number of ETFs there that track US markets - eg: S&P500. 2. Invest directly in US ETFs in your USD account. All you need to do is fund your account by doing an inter account transfer (which turns your Rands into Dollars within the platform) and then invest in an ETF of your choice. Hope that clears things up

What is the interest rate EE offers on TFSA , in case you don't want to invest but just earn interest? What is the percentage?

If i put R33k in the tfsa, can i withdraw the R33k at the end of the year or anytime i want, or will the R33k capital be lost in the etf, unit trusts, etc, do that i cannot withdraw if i need the full R33k at the end of tbe year?
@easyequities3558

Hi Truths, TFSAs are flexible and you can withdraw at anytime. This would mean you'd have to sell out of your investment first, wait for the funds to settle and then withdraw to your bank account. It's worth noting that by doing this, you aren't able to replace that withdrawn money within the same financial year due to the contribution limitations. It's also important to remember that the best use of a TFSA is to have a long term horizon and to let all the compounding work its magic over time. Since posting this video, the limit has been increased to R36000 per year. Hope that helps!

Where is the saving, what you've explained is investing? Why do they call it "savings account", when i have to invest the monies? Its confusing.
@boitumelomohale1215
@boitumelomohale1215 2 года назад
From my understanding, a TFSA, already yields interest on it's own. Just like any savings account which does so. E.g. a 32day account with the bank, you will notice when you keep money there it grows even if it's very little. You would find that you got an extra R16, or R2 or R50 depending how much you had been saving in there. It all depends how much percentage each institution gives. Like with ABSA it's 0.5 - 2% interest, while capitec is 2.5% - 5.3% interest on your TFSA. I don't know how much % Easy Equities gives. So investing your money on ETFs helps it grow more than that mere 0.5% to up to even 10% with some ETFs, that is why we are being advised to invest it, in this video.............I hope I make some sense.

Maybe apply for an easy equities account. You can then also buy U.S stocks and bundles.
