Chrissie has said recently she prefers smaller venues to arenas and stadiums but just listen to the crowd singing Brass In Pocket along with her. All those memories, all those years, all those people. Thanks Chrissie!
I very recently had the pleasure of making a handmade hand engraved Silver Plectrum for Chrissie. She gave me a shout out from the stage and dedicated the next song 'to the guy that made me that beautiful Silver Plectrum this next one is for you. I was very honoured and proud
Thank you posting this! The only thing of her set has been "Brass in Pocket" so I really appreciate your adding this. Chrissie was one of the unheralded pieces of the night!
This absolutely warmed my heart knowing that Dave and Taylor enjoyed Pretenders together as much as I have for many years! Absolutely my two most favorite bands in the world Foo Fighters and Pretenders. It was awesome really awesome for me to see her perform with Paul McCartney and his introduction of her and saying he known her for at least a hundred years, so cool!
Entirely, what a brilliant debut. I remember just how wild life was then living life in the fast lane. I loved seeing The Pretenders live with their original 2 members that passed soon after, top show, great musicians.
Not only their debut album but Pretenders ll is also still ranked imas the top 100 best debut albums all time. By Rolling Stone anyways, and me. I've been listening to them for 40 years and I still can't stop listening to those two albums! It's just too bad that James Honeyman Scott and Pete Fernden (?) never made it past that second album. Every album after those two it's hard for me to think of as Pretenders. Chrissie has set herself she kept the band game going all these years because it's a tribute to the original four members. And I would agree Martin Chambers is a underrated drummer. Between late '70s and mid '80s I seen them six times live, some of the best concerts I've ever been to!
Wow 6 times!! I only saw the original band around 1980 i think. I dont live in the US or Europe where you get more tours. Im in NZ but i did see my fave solo David Bowie on all his 4 world tours including the incredible 1978 Heroes/Isolar tour when i was 18. It was the greatest show in my lifetime ever. Yes, Pretenders 2 is great also, i guess theres that bit of sheer brilliance in that 1st album, its regarded as one of the truly great debuts. Yes it was Pete Farndon, i really love the video of Brass In Pocket. Pete and James look so ultracool, and as they had drug habits and i did too way back then, you can just see, sense and feel it in others. So, you got to see them just how i did. I was in the music industry at the time and the lifestyle was, well i know you understand, but i was stunned at their level as musicians, I used to play guitar and i loved James guitar work and his look. Thanks for your very interesting thoughts.
@@Michael-mm3fm Yes its a beauty. Really love her shimmering vibrato voice, its exquisite. She was, and in fact the band with that debut were like nothing that had come before them. It was a brilliant postpunk rock sound with her vocals set them apart.
