Hi Paul, another great video. Question, which will be softer and less ‘scratchy’, Simpson synthetic trafalgar T2 or their chubby 2 synthetic? Grateful for anyone’s views please.
Hi Andrew, I own both both brushes. The Chubby 2 synthetic is a really dense brush with loads of backbone but the tips are the softest of all the synthetics I own including G4 bristles. The Trafalgar T2 is superb also and for a fraction of the price. I prefer it to my T3. The Chubby does everything slightly better than the T2. I would suggest that you buy the T2 as it is a stunning brush and only costs £17.00. After using it you may not want another brush, it really is that good! There is not a lot of difference between the two brushes. Neither brush is at all scratchy in any way. The Chubby 2, although fantastic, is not really worth the extra cash. I can tell you the Chubby 2 Synthie is an excellent lather monster with great backbone and soft tips. It does take a few attempts to break it in though but afterwards it applies the lather with ease.
Nice shave Paul, TOBS and the 34C make it hard to go wrong. 😌👏 I was thinking about buying a Simpson at Christmas but I’ve bought so many brushes this year, I resisted. Hey Paul, TOBS Grapefruit may not be discontinued (I have a new tub) but Thayer's Peach has been discontinued so hopefully you got a few extra bottles like I did and perhaps your viewers. :-) Peach is my favorite of their scents with Lemon a close second. Nice shave Paul, is that new TOBS cream anything like the other "Aventus" soaps, like I have Razorock Emperor, is it close in comparison? Only if you have the Emperor to test it to, obviously.

If you like the creed aventus vibe PAA just introduced a new doppelgänger homage to creed aventus. I can’t wait to order it next. But to me, I have an authentic bottle of creed aventus.... I just don’t get all the hype about it but then again YMMV!

Hello Paul, I now only purchase and use synthetic brushes and have four Simpson synthetics (two Chubby 2s and two Duke 3s, one each in Ivory and one each in Butterscotch). They are outstanding brushes. Happy New Year and have a good week.

As you mentioned, many say that it resembles Aventus quite good. Kevy joked about the pineapple and vanilla in (literally) the Royal Forest. 😀But that is exactly what I thought first, why the heck did they call it RF though?!? 🤔 I got the Platinum Coll. for Christmas and absolutely love it! And I’ve got the No. 50 Collection as a late Christmas gift (quite hard to get in Germany) by my wife. It smells exactly(!) like Versace Pour Homme, so a lighter, more airy version of Chanel Allure Homme Sport. Now I go hunting not in but for the Royal Forest! 😉 Have a great Sunday, you and Mrs. H. Paul, given how much you love citrus scents I strongly recommend that you try the American Wholly Kaw “Lav sublime” if you haven’t already tried it. It reminds me a bit of Castle Forbes.
I recently obtained the royal forrest cream and it does smell great. However, it burned my skin before I could get a razor to it. The only TOBS I've had do that.
Great shave as always. It's my birthday today and have been treated to a bottle of creed aventus. Lucky boy. My xmas pressies of a rex ambassador and Edwin jagged pomegranate/lime and my gentleman's groom room soaps have been working a treat. All the best for the new year
Santa spoilt you didnt he! Yeah its ok that soap, i got given a sample not long ago from Taylors when i was in the shop recently. I am using a Creed shaving soap i got from Santa at the mo, Original Vetiver shaving soap, and it is amazing, the scent is magic. Anyway, see you Paul. Look after yourself 😉
It’s fantastic to watch someone who knows how to work this cream like a master. A lot of videos show gents making a paste out of it then complaining it not slick or protective then some other cream. You’ve got the cream to water ratio bang on. I’ve enjoyed lots of your videos. Keep up the great work.

Amazing Video. I have 34c too. I love it. However i ordered my 2nd razor Merkur Progress short handle. I wanted to try adjustable razor. Still using nivea sensitive skin cream
I love nivea sensitive skin cream and I always get great results with him, the problem that he dries my skin.. maybe because the ingredient Maris Sal which is sea salt. On the other hand no need to use in Alum Block, because the maris sal is salt and he is giving simillar effect ..
I have recently shaved with the old Taylor bond street grapefruit shave cream. Great fragrance. I use my Rockwell 6S safety razor to shave my face. It’s my favorite safety razor to use. And after my shave. I use a little Osage rub.
At first I already thought that His Lordship was back.) New citrus shaving cream. A good gift for Christmas. Brush is amazing!) Simpsons is on top! Thank you Paul and Mrs. H, for nice present and bouquet.
Great shave Paul. I have the very same brush in synthetic form and I absolutely love it. The thing I find with it is, it seems to work at its best when lathering, if the brush is wetter than I normally have my other brushes (if that makes sense). I'll be shaving tomorrow, with the exact same brush and lather bowl as yourself Paul. Simpson have managed to pack an insane amount of bristles into that knot, and it's amazingly soft, beautiful brush with plenty of backbone.

Paul, I have been wet shaving for many many years and although there are new artesian shave soaps being made, and don't get me wrong, they are good, but for my money, you can do no better than the old standbys. TOBS, Castle Forbes and the other original British soaps, creams. They are the best of the best! Scent, slickness and value are terrific. Just my opinion! Again, Happy New Year to you and Mrs. H.
Happy Sunday Paul! Those made in Japan blades are a bit over-sharp for my face. I get cut to ribbons...even with a mild razor, protective soap, and a light touch. Those Simpson brushes are packaged nicely. Lately, I have preferred the synthetic brushes over natural fibers...maybe it is just the ease of care and they now feel like a quality natural fiber brush. I am glad that Kai blade isn't like a Feather. All my lastest shaving acquisitions were pre-Christmas due to travel. I am very pleased with the REX Ambassador adjustable razor. I paired it with Gillette Super Stainless (Green) 7 O'Clock blades. It was a wow type shave. Further, all the WSP items, Formula T soaps and matching Aftershave splashes are superb. On my trip, I used the WSP Olympus soap and aftershave. It is base on your favorite Creed scent. The feedback I received from total strangers...mainly females...was "You smell good" or words to that effect. I am well please by that. Speaking of travel shaving gear, I took the Karve CB razor (C-plate), Brazilian Gillette Platinum Plus blades, the aforementioned WSP soaps and aftershaves, and the PAA Atomic Rocket brush. The Karve was used as a daily drive due to the need of a fresh shave. I found I needed to modify my shave routine so I didn't over shave...my face responded well and the shaves were fantastic.
