Dr Quinn!! As a young child I watched that with my mom. And I am still troubled by the death of Chad Allen's character's girlfriend. She died of rabies! What a show!! Streaming on Amazon Prime.
Notes on a Scandal…what a 🔥 film. Hilarious when Cate talks about the possible years she could spend in prison and Judi’s character is like “The time will fly byyyy!”
Y'all mentioned Kate Bush and Bjork this episode, and you recently spoke of Miss Billie Eilish's new album.. aaaand there's an artist called Aurora who just dropped her new album, 'What Happened to the Heart', and I think y'all might really dig it/her. She's a little Kate Bush, a little Bjork, a little Dolores O'Riorden, a little Enya, a little Tori Amos There's a video floatin' around out there of Billie Eilish crediting Aurora as a big inspiration for her career, saying, 'When I was 12, I saw Aurora’s music video. Something inside me clicked, like, that is what I want to do, no matter whether it goes anywhere or not.' So! That's a neat thing! Aurora was the voice of the wind?? Or some shit? -- in 'Frozen' or 'Frozen 2' (maybe both?), she had a song on the 'One Piece' soundtrack, one in the credits for 'Mass Effect: Andromeda', one in 'Assassin's Creed', aaaand her and the lovely (if at times overwrought 🙃) Hans Zimmer did the soundtrack for one of those 'Blue Planet' nature docs. Aurora's previous albums are all excellent as well; her last one was called, 'The Gods We Can Touch', and each song refers to a different deity within the Greek pantheon.. Very kewl, mythology is my jam🐉 Also, if anyone is interested, she's truly THE BEST when enjoyed live: Any performance from Vevo, KEXP Iceland, or Nidarosdomen is just excelllleennnt.. sososo good. She's super beloved worldwide, just hasnt really taken off here yet (maddening!!) There are also two documentaries about her, 'HAIK', and 'Once Aurora'. Sorry if this whole thing is presumptuous of me! I just thought you might like it maybe yes???!!?! 🙃 It does take a leetle while to 'pop off' and is most definitely intended to be listened to in one sitting. The first song sounds like a hymn, there's one later that is just straight DISCO, there's some that sound tribal and primal, another that is reminiscent of early 2000's EDM... It's incredibly varied, annnd I suggest you pluck an hour or two from your day and give it a listen. OKAY BYE HONEYS
HIGHLY recommend you watch the 1970 film Kelly's Heroes if you want to see Donald Sutherland in a goofy incredibly unserious role!! His character's name is literally Sgt. Oddball. It was my little brother's favorite movie growing up (v odd, v random for a small child), so I've seen it a million times. It's a solid WWII movie with a surprisingly stacked cast (Sutherland, Clint Eastwood, Don Rickles, Carroll O'Conner, Harry Dean Stanton, etc).
A remix that far overshadowed the original, in the UK at least, is K-Ci & JoJo "Tell Me It's Real" Club Asylum Edit. It's a UK Garage banger that was ubiquitous on the radio over here, way more than its ballad original. No idea how popular UK Garage was internationally, but to me this version is the original!
I will never forgive Dean Allyson Green at NYU Tisch for ruining the song “Losing My Religion” for me when she responded to our requests for a tuition refund by sending us a Quicktime movie of her dancing to the song alone in her office.
The “yes, and?” remix with Mariah was not good - but Mariah wrote new verses for her section. For Brandy and Monica remix, I hoped that the song would have sampled the old song in some way.
Im am 46, I belong to a group of genX swiftes. Stop degrading women by implying her audience is children when you see almost menopause women enjoy Taylor.
