Wherever pop culture and politics collide, Ira Madison III and Louis Virtel are on hand to examine the gorgeous wreckage from their uniquely queer perspective. Each week, our “Princes of Pop Culture” are joined by the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Hunter Doohan, John Boyega, Connie Britton, Gabrielle Union, and Sheryl Lee Ralph to unpack the latest controversies, laude character actress appreciation, and all the shade that’s fit to throw. New episodes drop every Wednesday.
Leftists kiss hollywoods ass but you're talking about republicans greatful for 1 person in connection to fame, having enough nerve to even slightly show right leaning beliefs. Then, not apologize after the leftist mob attempts to come for her. 😅
Ppl made Brittney this maga icon when no body care about her also she is not even Taylor friends they only sit together at away games so 5 games😂 she is Taylor boyfriend teammate wife at best lol
Roger Ebert didn't "Hate" Beetlejuice, he gave it 2 stars out of 4 and his main issue was the slapstick antics of Michael Keaton which he felt didn't fit with the rest of the movie
You say you are an Emmy Voter and you obviously have love for TV and the Emmys, YET you fail to know that Ms Rashad HAS NEVER WON AN EMMY Thats a little wonky
If you're going to mention Sandra Oh it's worth mentioning Chandra Wilson too who is equally as fantastic. Both deserved Emmys and to know they never won but Katherine Heigl did still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
Louis and I share a panoply of tastes. I'm shocked when he sings the praises of an obscure pop song that I thought only I knew and loved. But we diverge violently when it comes to Autumn. No, no, no. That is THE best season hands down. It's the only one that has all four seasons within it. Louis, recalibrate, please.
Short episodes released everyday is bit disorienting. Is it possible to do twice a week/two segments? Or even three. Like, the intro part on monday, the interview on wednesday and current culture discussion some other day? Regardless, the episode (fractured) has still been fantastic this week. Always my favorite podcast.
I don’t like it broken up either. Awful. But others seem to be leaving favorable comments. I hope they break it up into two parts, because everyday makes it feel scattered and disorienting. I do hope you’re joking about the attachment anxiety…if not it’s giving parasocial. 😅 the idea of show being someone’s “favorite person” is scary.
Elizabeth Montgomery (1933-1995) was TV's most versatile actress; moving effortlessly from comedy to dire, serious drama. She received nine nominations throughout her career. The fact that Montgomery never won is why I never watch the Emmy's. Montgomery had more diverse and natural talents than anyone else in the room.
Pharrell seems appears to be the problem, but Kelis is not credited as a songwriter on “Milkshake”- so her authorization wasn’t needed for the interpolation on Beyoncé’s song . Use was licensed by the publisher, which are Chad Hugo and Pharrell. I know Kelis felt a way about this, but she doesn’t have any say in the matter. If it were a sample of the song using her voice, then I would see her point.
Great list. One Best Actress/Supporting Actress snub I would add is Julia Duffy in "Newhart." While she was nominated a few times, she never won, yet her total immersion in the role of Stephanie Vanderkellen was both breathtaking and absolutely hilarious. Same goes for Peter Scolari as equally self-absorbed Michael Harris. Why neither of them was ever recognized at the Emmys is a mystery to me.
It's because, as funny as she was, it's basically a one note character. She never has an arch to her character I would compare her to Peter Boyle in Everybody Loves Raymond, nice one liners, but no depth, that's why she never won
Weird how the likes of Trump, Megyn Kelly & rest of The Right never have issues with celebrities getting involved with politics when it's Jon Voight, Kid Rock, Roseanne Barr, James Woods, Hulk Hogan, Dana White, Kevin Sorbo, Amber Rose, Scott Baio, Dennis & Randy Quaid, Chris Janson, Trace Adkins, Savannah Chrisley etc etc etc. 🤔🤔🤔
@@JLMiller6547 Of course! Because who better embodies the egalitarian collectivists values of socialism and communism than mega-famous multi-millionaires.
Imagine being a grown adult.... a grown adult who once had access to the nuclear codes... and HATING a pop star so much that you need to proclaim it to the world in ALL CAPS. History's dumbest Hitler is a big baby. Who would have guessed. 🙄
Random fun fact nobody cares about so I guess it’s really just a random fact, but I was in an episode of Passions. Add one line: “who do you want me to be?”
Baby Reindeer shouldn't have won best anthology / limited series. I agree with the acting awards and maybe even writing award, but it's not a great series. It goes on too long and it was said to be a comedy drama . . .it's just a drama. There's no comedy. I wanted it to end halfway through and was checked out. Especially with Fargo, True Detective: Night Country, and even Ripley (although, who doesn't ask for a photo of a missing person?). were all amazing. I'm surprised Baby Reindeer won. I enjoyed the other 3 so much more. Fargo was amazing and I think should have won . . .and I couldn't keep my eyes off of Night Country. Surprised Andrew Scott wasn't nominated for Ripley.
I love this episode and you're right, all of those women deserve their trophies. A couple of notes though: Carol Kane played Simka on Taxi, not minka, and she should have been nominated for a best supporting actress Emmy as opposed to a best actress, because that seemed to be more her role. That's just my two cents.
She was nominated for Supporting and won in 1983, Taxi's last year She DID win Lead Actress the year before for a Guest Turn Since there were no Guest Acting Categories until 1988, a lot of times, especially in the early 80's, a one time performance would get nominated and in her case, she won And the next year she was a regular cast member and won for Supporting
Ok what am I missing? You displayed the 1982 season as the ONLY year Bonnie Franklin got nominated for One Day At a Time ... and her name is not even on THAT nomination list when Carol Kane won for Taxi. Other nominees were Nell Carter, Swoozie Kurtz, Charlotte Rae, Isabel Sanford for Gimme a Break, Love Sydney, Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, respectively. anyways I was 9 years old when I first started watching One Day at a Time. I had two older brothers and we lived with recently divorced single mom in a 2 bedroom apartment/condo with a basement. It was the first time I got hooked on a prime time tv show from the debut episode (and not a rerun ... I'm sure I was already a fan of Bewitched ... I thought Elizabeth Montgomery won once(?) too...). ODAATime helped me realize The Brady Bunch was not very realistic (reruns again). One Day at a Time was an educational sitcom experience. I watched religiously until I was 14 or so and I began to lose interest. I remember people not liking it was kind of becoming the Pat Harrington show.
@@kd17Burger Despite what the video Does Not show at the 9:06 mark: Carol Kane Taxi* Nel Carter Gimme a Break! Swoozie Kurts Love, Sydney Charlotte Rae Facts of Life Isabel Sanford The Jeffersons (where is Bonnie Franklin?) Unlike, during the Phylicia Rashad segment (for example) when she was nominated and did not win for the 1985 and 1986 seasons of The Cosby Show ALL the nominees and the winners are listed as seen at the 5:06 mark. Anyways the video made an odd good telling us Franklin was nominated in 1982 -- which is true -- and then not listing Franklin with the other nominees and winner.
Jean Smart is an incredible actress and she deserves the Emmys she has won. However... Something needs to be done about shows entering into categories they don't belong like The Bear in comedy. Eugene Levy had the best joke of the night when he shaded The Bear.
I think we can all agree that the one big problem with the US, above all others, is that you regularly use jelly instead of jam. Jelly itself is fine as a desert but if it’s going to pad out bread with some sweetness then it had best be jam. The point is that a jam donut is a Berliner and is the original donut and I’m not gonna say it slaps but it’s a solid choice. It’s the Coca Cola of donuts, it’s nobody’s first choice but nobody’s getting fired for ordering jam donuts
