You start looking out for signs because that’s what you’re accustomed to - waiting for something to break, to stir up this calmness. So this is a gentle reminder to please heal yourself first, so you will not bleed on people who didn’t cut you.

The Archer and Daylight is talking about what she learned from her relationships and how she made some mistakes in some of them and how she could use that to improve, and this song is about apologizing to her love one. She’s honestly really mature but people don’t give her credit because the only song the listen to is We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Everyone has such a fave choice based on their emotions. This song got me from day one. When was the last time Taylor sang to a lover like this? She's growing & maturing, and accepts her side of things in the dynamics of a relationship. It's the best on her album for emotional growth, imho. #1 for me since the day this album dropped. I love Lover, Daylight, Cornelia Street, It's Nice to Have a Friend-->childhood friends that end up walking the altar--> so simple it just needs church bells.

Although we already know how much of a lyrical genius Taylor Swift is, I just wanna point out how witty it was for her to describe light as 'ultraviolet morning light'. UV light is mostly the one responsible for glow of fluorescent ink (like in stabilo markers) and phospors found in glow in the dark items. I'm just overly appreciated of this because I love glow in the dark toys since I was young, and now I make some glow in the dark paintings. To be amazed by their 'afterglow' is captured well by the metaphors of this song.

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but I have some friends who are. I have great memories of sleepovers and trips on the band bus to games with friends, and they were all so excited about this album. I ended up listening to it a lot around them. And now, it feels like we've drifted apart a lot, and all I can do is listen to this and think about the memories. This song especially makes me miss it. A beautiful song.
