The drought was the very worst (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst It was months and months of back and forth (Oh-oh, oh-oh) You're still all over me Like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore Hung my head as I lost the war And the sky turned black like a perfect storm Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh, oh, oh) There was nothing left to do (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room So I punched a hole in the roof (Oh-oh, oh-oh) Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud But no one heard a thing Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh, oh, oh) I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh Said, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh Ten months sober, I must admit Just because you're clean, don't mean you don't miss it Ten months older, I won't give in Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it The drought was the very worst (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst (Oh) Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean Finally clean Think I'm finally clean (oh, oh) Oh-oh, oh-oh (Oh, oh, oh) Think I'm finally clean
This song came on my Playlist when I was in ICU in 2020 with covid. I almost died. The part that says 'the water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud but no one heard a thing' When I was drowning I could finally breath.' Those lines resonated with me so much. That's how I felt I was literally drowning my lungs were 70% filled with fluid and I wasn't showing any signs if improvement. This was one of the songs that kept playing on my Playlist, and it was instrumental in saving my life. Its almost the anniversary of when I had covid and was at my worst and like clockwork this song starts coming up on my Playlist to remind me that this song gave me the strength to keep fighting for my life. So thank you for writing such an amazing song that saved my life. You, your music, your character are so important to so many people and it does change the world. You make the difference. Your ripple reaches way further than you could possibly imagine. Thank you for this song.
My brother didn't want to believe how serious COVID was and he didn't get his vaccines and died. He's immune compromised so he ended up on a vent after he wasn't improving to be able to breathe better. 2 weeks on a vent and his kidneys failed and later on in the night multiple organ failure. He was 50. I had long COVID for a month and it was my only symptomatic infection last March. I'm 39. My mom in the nursing home only had asymptomatic once early on. My dumb cousin has had it 3 times and isn't vaccinated. His parents my aunt who's a nurse at the Mayo said her and her husband got it for the first time this year. Her other son got RSV and said it was worse than his COVID infection. He works at the Mayo too as a maintenance technician so he's exposed. I'm so glad you made it and Taylor gave you strength. ❤️
I’m so glad you were able to successfully fight for your life 💜 When certain lyrics jump out at you, that you really, truly, strongly, connect with, it’s amazing the effect they can have on you, emotionally & physically. I went through a somewhat similar, serious health crisis a few years ago. I didn’t have my phone or any other way to listen to music but there was a song on repeat in my head the whole time. It definitely had an impact on my recovery.
I just want to say, thank you for doing God's work. I appreciate your effort in abundance. I know you are doing these just for fun but the quality and dedication. OMG. You helped me a lot with these videos and music. Thank you.
Never been much of a fan… this song really hits me maybe it’s the verse when she sings 10 months sober, beautiful lyrics.. going have listen to a bit more Swift I’m liking
There was nothin' left to do, ah-ah, ah-ah When the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room So I punched a hole in the roof, ah-ah, ah-ah Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you [Pre-Chorus] The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud But no one heard a thing [Chorus] The rain came pouring down When I was drownin', that's when I could finally breathe And by mornin' CLIMBE TO THE SHIP!!!! Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
