Taylor’s explanation on Exile: “Exile was a song that was written about miscommunications in relationships, and in the case of this song I imagine that the miscommunications ended the relationship - that they led to sort of the demise of this love affair. And now these two people are seeing each other out for the first time and they keep miscommunicating with each other, they can’t quite get on the same page, they never were able to. So even in their end, even after they’ve broken up they’re still not hearing each other, so we imagined that the beginning of it would be his side of the story, second verse would be her side of the story, and then the end would be sort of them talking over each other and not listening to the other, sort of like an argument. Yeah, I’m really stoked about how it turned out because it really does seem like this sort of tragedy of two people, two ships passing in the night.”
Thank you Mica! I will be uploading August, and this is me trying soon. (Just have to finish editing them) I'll add my tears ricochet to the list though. Stay tuned for more! 😊
@@Guitarz4Lyf Also, google "Wordsworth" and "Lake District" - this will explain a couple of things about the song before you listen to it. And when you listen, keep in mind that all her music masters were sold out by her label, which is a great tragedy for her, which is what the song is about.
Justin Vernon is the lead singer of Bon Iver (which is technically a band not a person, kind of confusing) and William Bowery is someone with zero internet presence or other writing credits besides another song on this album and all clues seem to point to him being Taylor’s boyfriend Joe but they’re super private so I doubt we’ll ever get actual confirmation. She loves a pseudonym, she’s written as Nils Sjoberg a couple times and she, her brother and Jack Antonoff released a cover of her own song under a fake band name recently. She loves a mystery lol.
Holy moly!.... Haha my brain hurts from trying to begin to figure out this mystery. lol This does explain a lot to me though. Thank you for helping me out.
@@cherylreinell857 it's definitely Joe... I mean come on all the clues point right at him😂 William was his grandpa and Bowery was the hotel where he & Taylor first met :P
Yes please!! I don’t think you’d be disappointed in this album. All songs are so different from what she’s done before but she weaves a whole storyline into each song that relates to another. Sooooo cool!!
William Bowry IS Taylor's boyfriend Joe. She confirmed this during the Long Pond sessions. Justin is the other singer in this song, from the band Bon Iver.
Not sure what kind of guitars 🎸 you have or what they do but I think her song “peace” would be something you’d like. I watched a producer react and he said it was a base that harmonized to itself? If that is interesting to you / is check it out. I think the lyrics to the song are AMAZING. It’s the best one on the album got me because of the simple base and just her singing.
I have a few inexpensive guitars I purchased a long time ago when I started teaching myself how to play, but they've been great. Is this song peace on her folklore album?
CSProductions.29 yes! It’s on folklore. Pretty sure it’s worded for her current boyfriend of 3.5 years. There are a few lines you can relate to other songs though too. (Her mind is something else to be able to build a world from all of these what-ifs and then tell the perspective of that other person). She also has been known to go back to older songs in her catalogue and pull ideas from them or their videos. There are some die-hard swifties that are trying to decipher all the clues from each song and how they inter-join. It’s WILD! And super cool that an artist does that extra bit to give their fans something else besides just the songs. She is unmatched for someone in the music industry that takes every opportunity possible to give clues and hints to her fans to show them what the song was really about.
@@michellerivera6244 yeah, that is super cool. I love that. I'll definitely have to check it out. I think in the future after my next t swift upload I will go back and just work through the album. Lol
ngl i always skipped your video in the suggestions bc i thought you were one of those guys who either yawn to this music or have an underlying sexist comment. but you are definitely one of the greatest reactors. no bias and definitely speaking in the perspective of a musician. thank you so much. 💗
Jerome, thank you for the love and support! I appreciate it. Thanks for giving me a chance. I was unsure about this project and gave it a chance and have absolutely loved every bit of her work here. It's been so great.
Omg! I'm loving your reaction videos. I've been a fan of Taylor since I was 13 and I'm 25 now, and finding your videos is pure gold. Just got my CD yesterday and I couldn't be any happier. Can't wait for you to get to Hoax and The Lakes. Thanks for making these kinds of reviews. Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
William Bowery is rumored to be Taylor’s bf. There is no record of his existence in music, and William is a name of her bf relative, and Bowery is name of hotel in NYC Taylor and her bf used to meet
Being a RU-vid music critic while not knowing who Justin Vernon suggests it's time to expand your range. Bon Iver is only one of the most respected indie bands in the world, and Justin has also been part of the Big Red Machine -- the pianist in this piece is also part of BRM in addition to being a member of The National -- as well as Volcano Choir. Check him out; you'll be a better critic and musician for taking the time to listen. And sorry to drop the criticism first -- I actually like the video.
No worries Michael! I greatly appreciate the feedback/support here. It will help broaden my horizons which is one of my goals with this. I'm here to learn, so thank you. =)
@@Guitarz4Lyf That's the spirit! As critics (I wrote movie and music reviews for years), the more we know the better we serve our readers and listeners. Merry Christmas!
Justin Vernon is the lead vocalist of Bon Iver, the guy singing in this song. William Bowery is a pseudonym for Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift's boyfriend. He wrote that main piano progression and most of the lyrics. You should check out The Long Pond Studio Sessions version of this song. I think it's a million times better.
William Bowery is a pseudonym of Joe Alwyn who is her boyfriend and Justin Vernon is from Bon Iver (Bon Iver is a freaking band! I just knew that too 😅)
