In college, this was the song I used to sing out loud while taking a shower. One of my professors didn’t like me for some reason. She humiliated me in front of my other professors and classmates during my thesis defense. She said I didn’t deserve a graduation certificate. I just stood up there, let her finish, and went on my presentation. I didn’t cry, but that was really painful. I promised I would prove her wrong. Now, here I am abroad, teaching.

Some people spend their mornings brushing their teeth and staring at themselves thinking about what makes them ugly. They’ll focus on what’s imperfect. Not because they’re sad that they’re imperfect; because they know that other people will notice too. Me included. This is exactly what I’ve thought before: you shouldn’t, even jokingly, point out a person’s physical imperfections, or any other “flaws.” We are all less than perfect, and we don’t have to BE perfect. I love the ending.. Its like is zooms out to show that she doesnt really have a crowd watching her, but she still performs for the one little girl out there that might be listening, who she can be a role model for, and giving that one little girl hope and confidence in herself is just as important. She doesnt need a massive crowd, as long as she can impact one little life. And thats what being a performer should be all about.

Back when I was younger, I used to listen to this song - it got me through a lot of rough times. I didn't always believe the words, but I would sing along and think of when I'd be "big enough so they couldn't hit me". On a whim, almost ten years later, I come back here, and... I made it. I graduated from college, moved across the country from my podunk hometown, and I'm living in the 'big old city'. I don't know where the people who used to bully me ended up, but I can certainly imagine some of them in bars yelling at the TV. And I just wanted to tell anyone finding this song now, or who's going through rough times, that it does get better, that someday you WILL be living in that big old city, knowing all your bullies will ever be is MEAN.

"You have pointed out my flaws again, as if i don't already see them" This line are for all those people who likes to remind us everyday with our insecurities as if we have no idea about it and make us question and compare ourself to others. Accepting oneself is hard when there are people who always try to point out the wrong in you.

This was my favourite song when I was a teen. Everyone was belittling me for taking a computer science degree (people make fun or are afraid of things they don't know) saying it's a useless degree.
