Taylor Swift NOW - The Making of a Song 00:00 - I Did Something Bad 07:59 - Delicate 11:52 - Gorgeous 19:05 - Getaway Car 25:59 - King Of My Heart 33:56 - This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things 41:15 - Call It What You Want
Yes Max Martin only focused on production and seemed not give a fck when Taylor thought about the lyric He kept playing the beat after beat When with Jack, Taylor likes, told her stories to her friend
Just thinking how one day they'll use this footage when they'll make a lifetime documentary about her whole career when she turns 80 for an award show before giving her artist of the century award And i just 😭😭😭😭😭
I can’t imagine to be in Taylor’s place and being ripped off of what you’ve put your blood, sweat and tears into. She was there for the all of it, wrote all of it, saw how all of it was conceived to being a successful final song. And then that rat had the courage to say “he bought Taylor” in a glory and paint Taylor in bad light for exposing him. Like heck no, I ain’t supporting him in no way. People can be so unethical and society still supports them 🤢
For real though, I’m genuinely concerned as to why Scott would ever sell Taylor’s masters to Sc*oter. She was the first artist on Big Machine and they would be NOTHING without her, this just proves that music is just a way for record labels to get money, and the fact that sc*oter told Taylor that she would be able to perform her old hits at the 2019 AMAS only if she doesn’t re record them which only proves my point. If she re records her old music, the masters that Sc*oter now owns would not get any plays, which means no money. And who names their child Sc*oter????
The fact that sites or people rank this as her “worst/least favorite” album is an INSULT! This is literally one of my favorite Taylor albums that is written so well and produced so well!
I can really appreciate the artistry behind it (and it definitely should have been nominated and won Grammys) but the sound is personally not to my taste. I love the lyrics as I always do but it is the album I listen to the least.
I feel like most fans don't like it as much because it sounds so different from the music she usually makes. But I don't really mind so for me it's one of her best albums.
I've actually listened to it a few times since I made this comment and I'm not sure of my tastes have changed or what but its suddenly become one of my favourites.
She mentioned in her apple music interview that she has songs that fit each category. I think gorgeous was just supposed to be a no brainer radio song. So she changed the lyrics.
I swear the god I was looking for this comment. That moment got me. She showed her necklace to the camera, and then that look in her eyes. and that smile. It was a short moment but, when she turned the camera to her necklace and I recognized J, I was like "OH MY GOD!!! J ON THE NECKLACE" and lots of screams of course. I had the time of my life in that short period😅
She was actually quite dumb in that part of the video. They were going to use that sound anyway, Max was just talking about the portamento on the synth (or the glide).
It's true. Infact all Max seems to do on the songwriting front with her, is slip in a few of his hook formulas here and there. She's writes the bulk of the song.
@@bw2937 that's what i always say... people usually confuses the lyrics and melodies, Taylor in fact do the lyrics all by herself with only two or three sentences that comes to Jack or others
To be fair, she has an entire team of people helping her. I wouldn’t call that “writing it herself”, but oh well. She creates a very rough outline, and then the pros come in and make it a hit. I actually thought she did a lot more. I’m a bit disappointed watching this.
While watching it, you think of the process of the writing is weird but then suddenly you gotta remember that there's no explanation there's only Reputation
@@antique_04 HELP thank you lmao it's what I thought it was the whole time anyway and when I really listened and realized it wasn't, I was frankly mad because it's such an oversight for her!
It was most likely in the studio when she was recording it and she literally couldn’t even say it with a straight face and burst out laughing whilst recording it but decided to keep it in
@@itsevelyn8558 for reputation, not until 2022 I believe. It's because of the 5-year contract. This is why she can rerecord her debut album up to 1989 only.
It's so sad, it was all her hard work, her imagination and her emotions, her memories and creativity in her albums and those bad people didn't let her buy them.
@@palattaodonhenley6114 that's what i thought too but we're going on 6 years for 1989 so im confused. Shouldnt she have been able to rerecord the first 5 albums back in 2019?
I don't think she'll change the songs though, cause it's meant to be a substitute for her original albums, and if she changed it and some would like the original albums, they would listen to the originals, which isn't the point of rerecording. I do think she'll make more singles and will hopefully add more songs
@@namratasrinivasa7568 it's likely though that she'll make small changes, enough to improve the song while keeping it true to the original. i'm pretty sure she mentioned this in one of her interviews but i forgot which one.
she’s the greatest song writer ever don’t argue with me. she write entire songs the entire album it’s so different and refreshing. they so well thought out and the words aren’t repeated over and over she actually tells the story
The fact that she doesn't even write a whole song on a piece of paper but she just go to a studio and spit out words. And if she write it on a piece of paper she would just literally fix it with her co writers and would sound a bit different.
she records what she has in her voice memos first, including any lyric ideas, and then she goes to the studio and turns it all into music. she also has a documents with words she wants to use and phrases she might want to add :) but yea pretty much
I now understand why there is so much emotion in her music, it’s the fact that behind scenes when she crafts her music everything is just so real and genuine
The pauses she takes while writing King of My Heart on her electric guitar makes me cry happy and sad tears. idk why! I'm so ready to sell my soul satan to get an acoustic full version of King of My Heart. She performed it for her fans/friends' engagement. But imagine it on an electric guitar, like the one we got for Wildest dreams at the Grammy museum. But it's clearly too late.
É incrível mesmo as possibilidades de combinações que as músicas dela proporcionam, escutamos o processo que elas foram feitas e imaginamos com o poderia ter sido diferente e continuaria espetacular.
that stupid "radaratatata" from I Did Something Bad ended up insanely good, I remember loving and having it stuck in my head first time I heard, and wondered if it was her voice edited or just a special effect now I know
A misconception some people have is that Taylor always comes to a production / recording session with the lyrics to a song already fully written. She did this mostly with Nathan Chapman in her earlier albums, but with many other producers she's worked with, especially Max Martin, Shellback and Antonoff, in most cases she would finish creating the lyrics with them. This is why those producers are credited as songwriters in most of the songs they worked on with Taylor. This video is a great example of that process.
That may be true for the last 2, but a known fact abt Martin is that he requires in his contract to be credited as a writer even if he didn’t write any lyrics. He’s the only guy who can get away with it, since he’s so good at his job, and that’s a major reason why Tay didn’t call him back for the re-records.
As an aspiring singer-songwriter, I can say that the making of any worthwhile song is in the fun and genius process of "Making of a Song," as in the preparation of a delicious meal, as in romancing the girl with words of love during the day, a stroll in the park, eating an ice cream cone on the bench, sitting on the beach watching the sun go down, sitting by the fireplace looking into each other's eyes, and ending it by explosive feelings of bliss...
this is so fun to watch as an aspiring music artist/songwriter. taylor is such a huge inspiration to me and has been for as long as i can remember (esp since i grew up in the south). i struggle so much with a perfectionist mindset that i toss out anything that doesn’t feel PERFECT. watching her songwriting process shows me that EVERY song, even really good ones that top the charts, sound unfinished/weird in the process. I MEAN DUH but when i listen to my own drafts and it doesn’t sound like a finished song after 30 minutes of writing i start doubting myself. being able to watch these moments is so important to me. thank you taylor.
3 years later and I’m back watching this again, for the millionth time. Just feel so grateful to Taylor for not only sharing so much of herself with her fans, but for letting us see into the way her mind works, and what her process is in writing a song.
is anyone just now realizing how incredible Taylor Swift is?? Like I would listen to her music as a kid all the time, but now in college and I"M like HOLY SHIT SHE IS INCREDIBLE I WANT TO MEET HER!!
Truly, I’m two months older than Taylor to the day (October 13, 1989) and as a teenager, I was a brat and just “too cool for this mainstream stuff” and then I heard Reputation and never looked back. Full on Swiftie and proud of it. Spent a ridiculous amount of money and time on Eras tour tickets and blast any Taylor song when it comes up on shuffle, no shame lol. Wish I’d have been more open minded when I was younger. This album never got the love it deserved. I mean Getaway Car “the ties were black the lies were white/ in shades of gray and candlelight”🔥 Top five Taylor song for me.
Me too! Arrogant about pop music! There’s no one as talented as her! Who? No one. I mean as a singer songwriter, performer & business owner. Her sun is conjunct the Galactic Center. She’s from off-world!
I watch someone like this and am genuinely floored that so many people say she can't sing. Some of these moments were so gorgeous it took my breath away.
I listened to a podcast do a structural analysis on the “over and over and over again” part of I Did Something Bad, explaining how it’s crafted to be so satisfying, and here’s Taylor just… spitting it out off the top of her head. She’s on another level.
@@freaknunes Switched On Pop. They did an episode on Reputation and episodes on quite a few of her other albums. They’re actually what changed me from “yeah I like some Taylor Swift music I guess” to full-on Swiftie.
I love Taylor's simplicity, besides being a spectacular singer, In everything she does, The songs she composes with a lot of love, she has shine, Taylor remains a wonderful singer and we will always be by her side. kisses in your heart.

Proof that Taylor is an incredible song writer, and possibly the greatest of her generation. I write pop punk/ hardcore music, and I’ve learned a ton about song writing from Taylor. It takes a true talent of someone mostly considered “pop” to inspire and teach people across all genres and platforms.
Such a cooool comment. I'm a musician/performer, not a songwriter. She's my mentor. I'm learning so much about how to engage an audience, express more emotion, and embody the lyrics. She doesn't hold anything back, and that is such an inspiration to me.
I have tried for YEARS to not like her or her music BUT I JUST CANT HELP IT I JUST LOVE HER SHES TOO SWEET FUNNY AND AMAZING WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC ILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY PEOPLE HATE HER LIKE THEY DO
This is the ultimate for me as a TS fan. Seeing her actually creating art is the thing. The Magic. It's all usually hidden from fans like me, that want to observe the genius part, but she did it for the fans, and that sells her for me, through thick and thin, for a long time now. It's great. Stevekc.
6:14 tay's "ghosts" in tiny 😩 21:54 tay's faceeee cuteeee CONCLUSION: Reputation needs to be recognized too, it's a masterpiece just like any other tay's albums
Not because I'm saying these because I'm a fan of her, Taylor Swift not only has the greatest personality, like she's the most humble and entertaining person ever you'd want to hang out with once, she is an incredible singer with a witty mind, putting efforts on efforts into her work, she's literally genius. I wasn't very fond of her 'til I started to search the deepest of her.
