Robbie is an absolute legend in the UK. Think it’s by choice that he’s not as big in the US but I know a lot of people there tend to have heard a few of his songs in passing lol
@@kait7404 iirc Take That were given opportunities to tour and promote their music in the US but turned them down because (in the words of Howard Donald) "can't be arsed", their career totally could have taken off over their but it was by choice that it didn't get pushed as heavily. It might have been the same for Robbie.
How can you not know Robbie Williams? Im from Mizoram, northeastern part of India, and here in Mizoram, he used to be so popular. Also he is a legend in UK.
Robbie Williams was/is huge in the world, besides US. He even made Guinness record in 2006 for selling 1.6 million tickets in 24 hours. Please react to Robbie Williams more, for example epic peformance of Let me entertain you @ Live8 and song Feel @ Knebworth. Would be awesome 😌
I was there that night with my mom, we flew to London just for her concert and than Robbie came out and it made this the best day ever, as he is my mom’s favorite artist. That night and this crowd was just magical 🤩🥰
except not jkr edit: sorry im a non-binary potterhead so i have an interesting relationship with her & wouldnt really care but thats just me. i hope this doesnt come across mean idk.
Robbie Williams was really, really big in the UK, but his era was way before your time, lol. Also, the guitarist Paul Sidoti from time to time will be up front with Taylor on some performances. It's their thing.
Paul have been with Taylor since Speak Now era, 15 years at least, all her band members are super loyal to her, they are all in Era Tours now, it really shows Taylor real character..
Robbie Williams is a legend! ❤️ And him performing Angels on British soil is as big as it gets! ❤️❤️❤️ The way the crowd sing along - and this is not even a Robbie Williams-concert! 😉 - says it all! And he's funny af! 🤣 Check out Robbie Williams on The Graham Norton Show and his morning glory story... 🤣😂🤣
He's the british Justin Timberlake. He was in a boy band. He didn't wanted to be big in america because he lived in los angeles and wanted a "normal" life there.
That's not true. He tried to crack US in the late 90s and was promoted as the next big thing but failed. The Americans never cared enough about someone who is coming from a band they never heard. And then he didn't try again. P.S - Not denying his success in the Europe, Latin America and Australia. He is still a LEGEND. 💛
I was there at this very show in London! Me and my best friend had flown in from Sweden just to see her live and it is literally the best night of my life! Just the feeling of ~70 000 people singing this song at the top of their lungs is so magical and I still get chills from watching videos of this performance ❤️
Robbie means a lot to me, for both personal and professional reasons. In 1997, after he quit Take That, they were considering dropping him from the label, Chrysalis. His sales weren't good after singles like Lazy Days and Old Before I Die. He then released this song, Angels and it turned it all around. This song basically saved his career and it also added some semblance to my life as a 15 year old young man. my mum/mom died in 1997 and I was lost, but I found comfort in this song, and the belief that "through it all, she would offer me protection" I'm 41 now and I still believe in that mantra, that an angel is watching over me, making sure I'm OK. Bless you Robert Peter Williams! I got to see him live in 2019 and he closed the show with Angels and I can tell you right now, I cried, tears of joy.
"Is he just a legend"? 😂 Yes. He's an absolute megastar, but that reaction goes beyond. It was the combo - Robbie Williams, singing _this_ song at _this_ stadium, it bypasses legendary straight into fucking mythology. Taylor is big, sure, but on _this_ stage she fades to nothing in comparison. I've never, ever heard such a roar from the crowd as that night. Utter insanity.
The opening live concert footage was at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire in 2003. Robbie W is massive in UK before going solo he was part of a boy band called Take That which again was massive. Even though he is taking it quietly currently he would sell out the biggest venues in UK and Europe
Robbie Williams was in a massive UK boy band called Take That before he went solo, and he's really at his best as a live performer and has had some of the largest crowds in the UK at his shows. Angels is an anthem in the UK everyone knows the words and always sing along.
Gotta love a bit of Robbie!!! This was the rep tour concert that I went to...when he came out it was immense. I have a video I took of this performance and I still get chills every time I watch!!! He is huge in the UK...mention Robbie Williams to anyone from the UK, they know exactly who you’re talking about. Thanks for your videos - I love watching them!!! 😊
Loooooooove Robbie. He is like the Zayn of the 90s but bigger. The band Take That was huge. He was the one to leave the band and start a solo career which was really successful. He is super cheeky with no filter. He has a great voice and personality as the ‘bad boy’ from the group. He’s huge in Australia as well. Also this song was the number one karaoke for years and years.... In the UK he’s had 12 or 13 number one albums. I think he’s the highest selling solo artist. Done a few swing albums and some great big band, and symphony orchestra concerts. It might be great to see Taylor do an orchestral concert with the FolkMore era... PS He’s 47
So Paul Sidoti is a major player in Taylors band - and - she has also referred to him as being her guitar tutor on the road... so that song has a slide guitar running through it and great for Taylor to feature Paul as she has done previously with songs like Red. I was at Wembley the night before and there is a crossing where the fans leaving Wembley had to wait to cross the road... thousands of Taylor fans started singing Angels randomly and then boom she pops him up on the second night as a surprise. The remarkable thing is she throws this idea at her band singers last minute (learn a song in around an hour sort of thing) and they smash it out of the park every time... phenomenal musicians/singers. Wembley was packed 85000 fans both nights - incredible shows. Robbie (from the band Take That) behaved himself that night and had to ramp up his performance as he was in the presence of greatness and he knew it. He also knew the band were on a level he hadn't come across either... he was humbled in my view. Was so impressed by the show at Manchester I grabbed last minute front row at Wembley... thought this is phenomenal and a lifetime event concert - so family and I saw the show in Miami some weeks later. Jaw dropping shows.
Robbie Williams usually does that at his shows, he likes to put the spot light in his musicians just to make the show more inclusive, not just about him.
I'd never seen this before, didn't even know it existed. Even after years of reaction videos it's still crazy to me that the US doesn't know Robbie Williams...
Robbie Williams is one of the greatest selling solo recording artists in music history. The man has sold over 65 million albums globally. SEVENTY-FIVE MILLION!!!! He has albums certifications of over 50 million across Europe. He is the best selling international male solo recording artist in Germany since 2000 (3rd all time behind Michael Jackson and Phil Collins). He has sold over 25 million albums in The UK alone. He's a legend. His lifetime concert revenue has exceeded $800 million. He IS still doing wonderfully btw. His latest album, a Christmas album, has sold over 600,000 units globally (so far). Overall, Robbie Williams has sold more than 125 million records. He's been active since 1992 (as a member of Take That - until 1995, and 2010) and as a solo recording artist since 1996. His 2005 album, Intensive Care, not only sold over 7 million units worldwide, it debuted with 1 million in sales in Mexico. His albums career: 1997 - 4,0 million - Life Thru a Lens 1998 - 5,0 million - I've Been Expecting You 1999 - 1,5 million - The Ego has Landed 2000 - 6,5 million - Sing when you're winning 2001 - 7,5 million - Swing when you're winning 2002 - 7,0 million - Escapology 2003 - 3,5 million - Live at Knebworth 2004 - 8,5 million - Greatest Hits 2005 - 7,0 million - Intensive Care 2006 - 2,5 million - Rudebox 2009 - 3,0 million - Reality Killed the Video Star 2010 - 2,5 million - In and out of Consciousness 2012 - 2,0 million - Take The Crown 2013 - 3,0 million - Swings Both Ways 2016 - 1,0 million - The Heavy Entertainment Show 2019 - 0,6 million - The Christmas Present The album, The Ego has Landed, was only released in Asia-Pacific + North America and Australia. It is certified Gold (500,000) in the US - his only certified album in the country.
"Angels" is an absolute anthem in the UK. Robbie Williams is a born entertainer. I recommend you watch his performance at Live 8 charity concert; he stole the show with his energy and there were bigger legends at that gig - Pink floyd reunion, the Who.
Find it crazy Take That & Robbie never really made it in America. Huge in Australia. The amount of times Robbie has come down to Australia. Robbie was like a "bad boy" he was into drugs & alcohol back in the day & said so much stuff about his ex band mates & still says over the top things but he's a little tame more then back in the day as he's sober now. But he's such a great performer watch his Knebworth concert it's on RU-vid the crowd is HUGE. You should defs react to some old school Take That there's only 3 of them in the group now but Gary Barlow is an amazing songwriter. Still crazy how the media treated him after take that broke up. Disgusting.
Hes massive everywhere except the USA. Performed to 300k over 3 nights in 2003ish. This is nice Taylor lets Robbie have his moment, wont have performed to this many for a while. Check out some of robbies live stuff, a real showman.
oh I didn't realize that Robbie is not a really big deal in the US - I think he's very well known in Europe, not just the UK, at least in german speaking countries he's very famous!
I´m Italian and I can tell you that he´s very well known here and from what I´ve heard overall in Europe. Kinda weird how he never made it that big in America
Funny fact is that Taylor Swift is as unknown in Europe as Robbie Williams is in America. But Taylor knows how big Robbie is, most music lovers knows Robbie. He is the Michael Jackson of Europe... that famous.
The reason they featured Paul so heavily on guitar is because this song features an amazing slide guitar solo which is impossible to do if you don't know slide guitar (and it's rare to know how to do). It's not something Paul gets to do on Taylor songs so he got to show off his skills and play with a legendary performer. Taylor similarly featured Paul during the 1989 guest performances if there was a guitar solo.
On tour Taylor will typically ask a local star to appear with her on stage for a song as a treat to that city's fans. I'm sure the refusal rate is very low.
He’s a legend everywhere but the states, massive artist and was the worlds biggest at his peak. He’s not 57 lol Jesus. If only we all look that good when we get there….it’s pretty obvious he’s not 57. We’re all gonna watch the royal funeral? My god this guy knows nothing about us
as a european (not british) robbie williams is like 10 times bigger then taylor swift for me ... honestly i rank him over eminem hes one level with madonna for me... and i am not even liking his music, hes just top level superstar here
Suggestion Sabrina Lopes has the story Taylor Swift NOW Ep1 a HUG from Taylor Swift. It’s a throwback to Fearless era so good time to react to that one
Sorry this is still pretty pale compared to his performance singing this at Knebworth, when over 100,000 sang every single word alongside him. Truly epic! Check it out: Robbie Williams Knebworth Angels
React to brazilian singer Paula Fernandes singing "Long live" with Taylor Swift at Rio de Janeiro. (They sing in Portuguese and English) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NgbZ8XUalRM.html Dariam uma ótima dupla sertaneja haha
