"The last great american dynasty" would be such an incredible movie with a great storyline and visuals.

"And nothing provokes more than the sight of a woman enjoying herself," Marmee. Little Women, 1994 I don't know, this song just made me think of that line.

"They say she was seen on occasion pacing the rocks and staring out at the midnight sea" Idk why but this line gives me chills. It conjures up an image of a woman shunned by the society and she's pacing along the shore all by herself not caring about the world.

To those who don't know, this song's written about the life and rumors of the former owner of one of Taylor's mansion (Rebekah Harkness). Taylor absolutely love the woman and she asked for the family's consent before writing and including this in her album.

I want to take the time to cherish these wonderful moments where Taylor doesn't just tell stories about her life but the stories of the people that she feels connected with too. The bridge was exquisitely made, well written and made like a diamond. I've always love Taylor's bridges, I feel quite sad thinking that bridges are slowly disappearing from new songs. I hope more artists continue writing bridges.

how she emulates the true meaning of folklore with the line ‘dyed his dog key lime green’. apparently it was a cat. shows how in real life, when folklore is passed down things get lost in translation. (aka, cat turning into dog) and how she flips the rebekah story into a metaphor for herself is another one of my many reasons i love Taylor Swift.

Song reminds me of my aunt. She married young to a rich guy. Had 2 kids. At 32 she went "crazy", they said. Her husband was cheating on her and shame on her for not accepring that. She did a lot of wild, fun, improper things. She gor a new car and a new job. She moved away from that old town shamelessly. She had a marvelous time ruining everything. People still talk about her. She dyed her hair red at 40 years old! She rocks in it by the way.

Feeling guilty as I slept on folklore when it was released. I was basically into pop music back then. Thanks to the Eras Tour that I have come to know about the perfection of this album. This is literally Taylor's best album. She showed her poetical and lyrical skills here. Been listening to it on repeat. Whoever is also listening, has a great taste in music. Peace.

Fun fact -- Rebekah Harkness's legacy and philanthropy (that Taylor tells us went to the ballet) is still a part of the NYC dance scene today -- there's the Harkness Center for Dance (which includes a robust education program) and (a place that has helped myself and several of my fellow dancers) the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. Funny that I've been listening to this song for some time and literally just made the connection lol

She likens her parties to the bevy of famous composers and dancer that once frequented Holiday house in Harkness' days. The fact that Taylor wrote about her house and the previous owners tells a lot about her as a person. In my opinion, she's the kind of person who thinks a lot about who were the owners/stayed in the house before her, what were their stories, what did neighbors think of them, how does Taylor herself stand in comparison to them etc. And to me, this is really deep.
