The new TaylorMade Stealth driver shaft options include five stock shafts that cover a wide range of golfers, from moderate swing speeds all the way up to the high speed, high spin golfers. While the TaylorMade Stealth driver is packed with technology, selecting the right stock shaft is essential to getting the best performance.
In this video, 2nd Swing's Thomas Campbell and Drew Mahowald break down the TaylorMade Stealth driver shaft options and discuss the type of golfer each shaft will fit the best.

I loved the Kail’li white 60s. Used it on the Callaway LTD Max and was hitting 20+ yards further than any other shaft combo. Just felt so balanced

Just saw this. Thank you. It is the only test/review I have seen that involved the Aldila Ascent. I had begun to question whether that was because no one thought much of that shaft despite the very wide range of weights and flexes it comes in. But the master fitter at the PGA Superstore where I go told me today that he thinks very highly of it and in fact has fit many players into it. So then to see your review the same day was very useful. I had been considering a Mizuno 220 STZ driver with 9.5 degree loft and an Ascent Red 50 stiff shaft for my adult son that is in the clearance rack at a very, very affordable price, but was hesitant about the shaft. Now you as well as the fitter have cleared that up for me and I will pick up the club tomorrow. So thanks again. Oh, one other thing. Instead of making Thomas be a man of all swing speeds, why not have three different staff members with different swing speeds, including a female staffer, do the hitting at the appropriate swing speed for each.

Just to add that the difference for me at least between the two shafts with the same head - stealth- was like night and day in every sense including distance, control, flight, and drop off and e-w dispersion. Was most surprised but pleasantly so. In fact similar things happened when I identified the right irons, wedges and hybrid and fairway wood for me. The choice of the right shaft and some consistency in certain categories in each case has made all the difference.

What did you try and end up buying?
@alysgolfstudio567
@alysgolfstudio567 2 года назад
@@RW-td2hz driver wise I went with the stealth 10.5 set at 11 with the fujikura airspeeder shaft shortened to 45”. Similarly for my 3 fairway which I love too now I went with the epic speed max with the mmt shaft also shortened by 0.5”; and for my hybrid (also superb) epic speed super hybrid 18 degrees set at 20 with the aerotech fibre shaft.

your opinion on the Mitsubishi Kai'li line ? red or the blue for a 90-94 mph swing speed or am i better off to go with VENTUS RED TR 5 ?...thx cheers

Hi guys! Great video! Because I'm a regular slicer, I'm interested in the HD version. The shaft that comes standard is the Air Speeder but if I chose the Ventus Red would it be better? Your numbers don't seem to show a significant difference in the end. Maybe I should even consider the Aldila Ascent? Thanks!
@2ndswing
@2ndswing Год назад
You can play either of those shafts in the HD no problem. I would compare the differences. Just because its a stock option for a certain club it doesn't mean its going to be the best shaft for everyone - Thomas

I tried the Stealth at a demo day and was impressed. I am Mr Average (c.93-96 mph swing speed) so have always played a regular shaft usually around the 60-65g weight. To my big surprise the best combo was a stiff 50g shaft (not sure which one). From good strikes it went no further than my 6 year old Epic driver, but I did not expect it to, but the Stealth was so much better on off centre strikes

I have the hazardous smoke shaft in with my stealth plus. So far it seems to work really well my swing.I am curious about the air speeder shaft tho, I didn't test that shaft,but got me wondering if I could pick up any ball speed with the lighter shaft?
@2ndswing
@2ndswing 2 года назад
It is worth a try! I always try to play the lightest shaft I can control. On the other hand, if your shaft works really well right now - why change!
@alysgolfstudio567
@alysgolfstudio567 2 года назад
Interesting discussion. Just to add that I was testing the stealth (not the hd which I did not need) initially with the ventus red and it just did not work for me and as a result almost decided the stealth was not for me. I then tried the air speeder and loved it and really works well for me - bit better distance and stability interestingly. My driver speed is about 90mph and now I have good control of my drives and am now matching up against which as of now a shortlist of four balls is the best ball - vice pro zero, Wilson triad, pro v1 and the Bridgestone 330brx. So yes indeed for a slower swing speed the air speeder is great and my spin and launch numbers are optimal for getting the best drives (distance and tight dispersion too) since a long time - and still so after 30 rounds of golf already with it. Finally found a driver since my m2 that I like and works well. I think the shaft has made a real difference - also for someone in their late 60s!!

@@gbmader regular flex. Have since changed from the stealth to the tsi1 with the new project x hzrdus red cb regular shaft. Just got better number and reliability - tighter dispersion, greater height etc from the tsi1

Great Video! Is it a strange combo and bad fitter job I fit best into the Stealth HD head at 9 degrees and 1 notch lower from standard and the RDX Smoke Red in 6.0 and shaved down to 45.25 length? My swing speed max is 95 mph and ball speed in the 130s. Number we’re great and desperation was really good too! Looking for some expect validation. Thanks!
@2ndswing
@2ndswing 2 года назад
Not at all. Club speed at 95mph would equate to around 6.0 in shaft flex. I don't know your angle of attack or face angle / path but if the numbers were great and dispersion great the fitter did a great job! Sometimes if it's different from the norm it's ok some stuff is player dependent - Thomas

@@2ndswing Thanks Thomas! I’m really working on my swing path to be in-to-out and promote the draw, but my swings during the fitting were around -4 degrees outside in where I normally fade or slice. This HD head really helped straighten me out!! I appreciate the quick response! Thanks.

Have to get fit. Go open minded. It varies even amongst players. I'm 96-100 MPH 1400-145 ball speed mid spin. Went with Ascent 50 gram Regular, yes, Reg shaft. why? launched best (high) with least spin and I Could turn it over in Mizuno STX easier. Would love Graphics Design but not pay the big $$

They said multiple times that he was changing his swing speed to match the shaft. I'm not sure why we didn't get a 1 to 1 comp with the rdx shaft and the Mitsubishi shaft as those both have the xstiff options for the plus

Consider some aftermarket shafts too. i personally game the HULK shaft and love it, helps mostly with dispersion but its low launching and low spin so not suitable for everyone

Torque isn’t the FLEX of the shaft it’s the resistance level of the club face twisting open/closed.
