my father didn't abandon me like Howard's did. My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 3 (almost 4). This episode really hits home with me because I kinda had a similar envelope in my life. I only have one memory of my father, at Wrigley Field. It happened to be the day Cubs great Ernie Banks hit home run 500. My father was a huge Cubs fan and Ernie Banks was his favorite player. When I turned 18, my Grandma gave me an envelope which had the ticket stubs to the game, a picture of me being hugged tightly by my dad, and on the back the photo he wrote "May 12, 1970 - sharing the best day with my little Cubbie!!!" I cried for hours after reading that.
That's an extremely intense story, I nearly cried. I'm so sorry you lost your Dad so young. It sounds though like he truly enjoyed and appreciated you in his life however short a time you guys had together. That's a thing some people even with spending their whole life with their Dad will never know. I think it's awesome too that you know so much of him, really that's a beautiful story of yours
All of what was said is true, except Sheldons. It was a birthday card, inside was a letter written wishing him a happy birthday, telling him about his second life that caught up to him, that he was in the audience at his graduation, that family is important and he shouldn't throw it away, inside the card was also the photo of him holding his when he was born. Worded in a way to make it sound like they are separate stories. Except, really Howard knows that this is all one thing, and everything they said was true.
They are all true, he sent a farside card with a photo in it and a letter explaining why he went and and that he was at the graduation. He remembered taking Howard to see 'The Goonies' and told him that family was the most important thing.
I think that was a wonderful thing of them to do for Howard each of them presenting a beautiful message which either way would make him happy if it was in the letter
Aside from sharing his name, I can totally relate to how Howard feels. My situation isn't identical but it is quite similar. It's always amazing when television really tugs at your heartstrings...
Bernadette told the truth imo, cause she loves him the most and she has the best claim on the true story. She would not settle for lying to him while another told the truth.
I dont mind what's in the letter; but I am really glad that Howard has friends that could handle this situation really well; portraying his father was a good man and he loves Howard.
I think that Amy's story is definitely true, because Sheldon interrupted when Howard said "really?" after she told her story. Just like he did with the "Miss Maggie Mageri and Raj's Sister story".
I think it's Bernadette+Leonard. Because Sheldon's reaction to Amy's and Penny's stories is too genuine. They didn't tell the made up stories to each other before, that's why Sheldon was so surprised by Amy's and Penny's stories.
I believe Sheldon’s was partly right that way back when the Wolowitz family was actually a Pirate Colony and there was a map of a berried treasure and Howard’s father owned the map and wanted to give it to Howard
It was clearly amy..the only other probabilities are leonard's penny's and bernadette's..sheldon's wasnt definitely true..neither was raj's..but if you think about it..Bernadette's seems a lil odd..I mean a father who abandoned his son will not send a letter writing an affirmation or a picture..leaving us with penny leonard and amy..but again...Penny's and Leonard's kind of contradicts one another's statement..which leaves us with Amy...why am I so sure..you can see when Leonard called Amy's name..he made a lil nod with his head..also she immediately stood up and said it in the most genuine way...secondly Sheldon immediately contradicted her...that could be either he was jealous he didn't get to say it..or when he saw..howard started to believe it..he tried to break it off..also..look at their faces after Amy's statement....it was clearly her...
@Christopher Bingham you're saying it like if this were real it would be a game, it's not a game. It's not about howard guessing which one is true and there being a prize, if it were a game I'd agree with you but as it is, given the situation I'd say Bernadette would have wanted to be the one to tell him the truth in this case.
The running theory is that they were all true (possibly Sheldon's too, Howard's dad could have mentioned the Goonies as something they had done before he left), so each of them explained a small part of the letter.
I think they are all true aside from Sheldon's, however if i had to pick 1 of the stories i would say Bernadette's is true. In my mind it would only be right for her to tell howard what the letter actually said.
Raj,was ok,until he ruined it with the far side card . Sheldon ..well Leonard..possibly Penny ..possible Bernadette..yes she is his wife ,so she would insists that she tells him.
