Hi there! I'm Robbiemartyn and wecome to NaviSim101!
This video will show you how to setup your Microsoft Flight Simulator throttle control system with the exceptional TBM 930 in MSFS2020. This aircraft has an unusual throttle movement of travel, not something that flightsim pilots are accostomed to. This video witll show you exactly what to do using the beta version of FSUIPC7 including how to set up ENGINE REVERSERS! You can download this little but very importand software using the link below. If you like this tutorial video please do like and subscribe! Thanks!

After watching your video, I purchased FSUIPC7 and followed your instructions to the letter. After programming throttle and prop axis, I went into the MSFS control panel and un-assigned the axis for both. Unfortunately after un-assigning the axis in the sim, the throttle lever doesn't respond to inputs from my throttle quadrant. Any suggestions as to why it's not communicating? Oh forgot to compliment you on a fine video... Update 01-26-22: after the SU7 update, this video, and app, are no longer applicable to control the throttle. Can't find a work-around yet...

Hi Dave. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Are you still haveing connection issues? Do you get any calibration movement indications in FSUIPC main set up screen?
@mixdiver1961
@mixdiver1961 2 года назад
@@NaviSim101 The throttle can't be calibrated within the FSUIPC7 Cal screen because it is not seen by the software even with the throttle being assigned to Axis Throttle 1 Set. Throttle works (responds) in sim but jumps past low and hi idle right over to taxi with raised which is undesirable behavior to say the least. The developer of FSUIPC said he has heard many others with same issue and no work-around has been found to date (1-24-22). Hoping for one soon because this is my "go-to" plane and I'm right in the middle of a circumnavigation...ouch

Hi ! Really nice tip ! Is it Working with the HOTAS X56 (knowing I have a double throttle pad + 2 rotations button (0-100%) on the base ? I think I can set this up on the same way...? It's true I love the TBM9, but have to make 2-3 tryout to start it up in "RP" mode using my base FS settings....

Hi there! Glad you found the video useful. I haven't tried the method on my Warthog Throttle system as it has functions similar to yours. But the throttles can be manipulated independently and FSUIPC7 will treat it as it does the SAITEK Pro Flight System. So with a little tinkering about you should be able to do it. Thanks for your post! Stay safe. ~ Rm

Using FSUIPC 7 now, it seems that the animated throttle inside MSFS does not move anymore (Some say its because of Update SU7). Moving the throttle does increase the throttle, but the throttle inside the SIM is non-moving. is there a fix coming soon?

Hi there, The video focuses on an alternative way of setting up your throttles for the TBM 930. Sure, you can use the default control inputs on MSFS, many flight simmers, however like to use Pete Dowson's software for doing this so the video is presented from that aspect. Sorry if the video was a bit misleading at the outset. Thanks for your post!

Hi, very great video. Thank you for this. I used FSX Steam before this 2020 came out, and the stock controls in FSX sucked big time. So that is when i learned to use FSUIPC to setup all the controls and buttons and just disable all Axis and buttons in FSX and just let FSUIPC do all my controls. Now, for some reason i am having a ton of problems with assigning switches and controls in MFS 2020 on my machine for some reason. All was working fine until this last update. After that i can't get anything to assign correctly or at all for that much. My question to you is, if i disable all my Axis and buttons in 2020 that i want to use in FSUIPC, do you think i can set it up like i did with FSX and all work just fine just using FSUIPC7? Because i hate the stock control settings in 2020 just as i did in FSX.

Hi Jim, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! As regards your question on FSUIPC7, what you have to remember is that at this moment, the software is still in beta development and so not all of the usual functionality of FSUIPC7 is working. For e.g, I tried to create a macro the other day and it didn't work. But, when we get the full working version, then yes, you'll be able to do away with all the stock settings on MSFS and use soley FSUIPC7. Hope this helps ~Rm

Hi. On its initial release, this couldn’t be done with MSFS. It might be possible now, some 3 years later. Haven’t tried it myself. The TBM,s throttle movement is tricky to replicate. You need to mess about with the power bindings in the control menu. Trial and error. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Thanks for watching.😀

Thanks for the vid. For me the default prop' lever in MSFS2020 sometimes goes full range from cut-off to taxi-idle, and then the throttle lever takes over. Which is great. By assigning the throttle lever "switch" to engage reverse thrust (manually assigned in game Controls to 'z' ) I can then increase/decrease the thrust while in reverse. This is all ideal. Except the prop' lever is really inconsistent. I'm hoping there'll be a patch for this and simply; blue lever all way down into switch equals cut-off. Move it forward and you get lo-idle then hi-idle, and all the way forward gets you to taxi-idle. Throttle lever works as is but the switch enables reverse and then you have variable reverse thrust until switch again. What you've presented here is worth taking a look at for sure, but I do think it is something that should work properly in game without an add-on.

Hi there! and thanks for your comment. Much appreciated. MSFS2020 has a whole range of options to set up your controller to work along with it. The options are 'filtered' by default so you have to select 'all' to see them. Many Flight Simmers prefer to use FSUIPC so this video is presented from that aspect. In retrospect maybe I should have made that point more clearer at the outset. Perhaps a video on how to setup throttles using MSFS2020 is now due! Thanks again for your comment ;-)

@@NaviSim101 No problem - and thanks again for the effort in creating the vid. I've not flight sim'd in years so hadn't even heard of FSUIPC which I'll now have a play with. I'd still like to see either FS2020 or Saitek do something with these controls. I've been cruising around in the Cessna's and looked down (in cockpit) to see my throttle or mixture lever fluttering. It's like the sim has trouble determining where the lever is set sometimes when not fully opened or closed. Look forward to more content dude. Keep going.

Super helpful video. Not sure how you figured all that out, but thanks for taking the time. I suspect a lot of trail and error. MSFS really falls short when it comes to some of the configuration stuff. Not sure why they would work on the development of an aircraft and not provide some means of controlling things like the throttle quadrant. Great work. Looking forward to trying out the plane with this new config. I will point out for your readers that you now need to register the utility to get the functionality demonstrated in this video. Without a reg key the "Assignments" option is not available. It's somewhat reasonably priced at $25 EU and you can get it at simMarket.

Hi there! The Throttle Quadrant is a separate unit and as you know has its own USB. MSFS 2020 should 'see' it and form it's own window in the Controls menu just like it does for any other device. Just scroll along to the right and you should see it. If not, then go to SAITEK's software and see if it's recognized there. Unplug then plug in again. Just do the basic things and it should come up.
