The "racetrack" is actually where Michelin tests new tires! They have high-speed areas, different amounts of bumps, and handling/cornering.

Correct, the Michelin Laurens proving grounds. Not open to the public but certain groups can use it such as Tire Rack Street Survival (teen driver training).

Love the videos. I fly out of a small airport just north of charlotte and had the privilege to fly into charlotte international at sunset as a student pilot during Covid when air traffic wasn’t so busy. An experience I will never forget.

I was working in the tracon when you flew in. They are building a taxiway that joins 36C and 36R to make it easier for those that park in the cargo ramp. They are also building a 4th parallel rwy btwn 36L and 36C. There will be two end around taxiways around 36C. Good to see you finally made it to CLT.

Landing on the left (otherwise known as 485 lol) I've had taxi times of 45 minutes or greater! Now that they have closed 5/23 and essentially made it a taxi way its not as bad but still can be. Great flight! Welcome to CLT

I've only been to Charlotte airport once. It was ages ago on a ValuJet or some low cost carrier that couldn't fly me non-stop to New Orleans to see my Army Buddy in Metairie. I remember flying in the turbulence was terrible and on the outbound flight to Kenner Airport went over the Gulf of Mexico for a bit and we had a bit of roller coaster action. The flight attendant almost flew up to the ceiling. If it had been an uneventful flight I don't think I would remember it at all.

Living in north Charlotte, I always enjoy flying into Charlotte Douglas for the views. At times, doing the same CCW circle you did. You did a broad circle around my neighborhood at 32:02 with it top center of the view for 10 seconds. Its so cool driving north on I-485 past the airport in the evening. I've seen 10 or more plane landing lights on approach.

The race track you saw is the Michelin Proving Grounds in Laurens SC. It looks very similar to the test track we have at the BMW manufacturing plant in Spartanburg SC. You should come visit the area and tour the BMW plant some day.
