This was amazing! Thank you team! And thank you Trappy for your foundational developments to this amazing hobby! I didn’t know this part of the history of FPV. Even though I personally have very few TBS products and have spent less than $2000 in the TBS store… I really resonate with Trappy and will make sure to bring more support into the future. We wouldn’t be here without these pivotal people… same for Chris Thompson, firmware developers, hardware designers , engineers, and all! FPV changed my life, and I am very, very grateful!!! ❤

When Trappy was trying to explain his role at TBS I kept hoping someone would make the connection between his work and what Steve Jobs did for Apple, so it made me smile when Jon E5 made that comparison. This is one of my favorite live-streams, even if I've not been fortunate enough to catch this live... yet!

Very excited with XpressLRS. As a crossfire user I just know this, the system has never failed me, even behind mountains. Best of luck to TBS, the competition and the FPV community.

BUY IT - INSTALL IT - BIND IT - RIP IT I would compare TBS electronics to the DJI FPV system. 100% Rock Solid / They Never Fail.. (obviously some people have had issues but, I can honestly say I've never had a TBS Crossfire receiver or a Unify nano "back in the day" just stopped working same as any of my DJI Vista's / Air Units)... Sure, I have damaged many Crossfire bind buttons 😜 but then just use a large hex driver to bridge the contacts! TBS-4-LIFE - I've been using crossfire for 4 years and probably close to a 1000 flights, and it's worked reliably every single time!!! (mangled immortal-t antennas and all)

Alright...I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it was the other authorities at TBS holding things back. Very happy to hear about a LORA alpha, it's about time! Your comments about TBS being "risk averse" make sense to me. Maybe this is a new era.

The TBS branding and design language is aweseome - the products aren't bad either. I gotta say TBS products are great value for money in you figure in the support. I've sent 3 FCs 3 or 4 Unifies an FPV Vission (awesome product) which all had faults and TBS fixed them under warranty for free, excpet 2 of the pieces - one had a dead MCU and the other had traces damaged. I've also been contact directly by TBS engineers when I've encountered they bug and they gave me a work around and then a full fix. I doub't you'll get that from a cheaper brand. And Crossfire. Update your module and all the receviers update themselves - no fucking aroudn with soldering your RX to a UART adn then incanting a magic spell. It just fucken works.

I'm running mini mortals on 4 out of my 7 quads... and I love them for Sub250g quads as they save so much weight and space... and I've never had an issue with the connection (so far)

opens source ELRS, it's what I started on an it's the most simple part of building a quad, never spent more than 15 minutes upgrading and binding. It's easy. It's not about price it's about freedom, and freedom needs to be affordable too. The intro was awesome!!!
@IvanEfimovLimon

ELRS is not super hard of course. But its harder than crossfire now... Which is not a problem for experienced guys at all. But it could for beginners i guess.
@breakflight
@breakflight 10 месяцев назад
For ELRS: The 2.0 to 3.0 transition was rocky. And the partition size issue was rocky. And the WiFi compiled vs configured was rocky. And the compile toolchain was sometimes rocky. And developers shipping beta code was rocky. But now it's relatively solid and intuitive, but there's now lots of out of date, more difficult than necessary guides and videos.

Swapped out all my crossfire for elrs and 2 out of 4 of my quads didn’t work. You’d think it would be a straight simple swap but nope. One problem was easy enough to solve, but the other was an absolute nightmare, if I had been starting out and had that issue I probably would have given up.

Ivan - set up meters for audio when streaming and balance them by ear or visually if needed, you're like twice as loud as the others. its really annoying when we have to level to the lowest participant and then your voice exploding the speakers. cheers

I know people say they love Trappy, but hearing him, he has "reasons" for everything when its not working well, yet he says that they "focus on performance regardless of the tradeoffs". He says this in multiple difference ways. Do people believe this? He says he is responsible for the quality of TBS and pushing production speed, but then he had partners in the business that no one knew about and it would take longer than just outsourcing production. He doesn't convince me. Yeah so TBS stuff works great, but so does other stuff. LORA isn't a TBS secret. Listen to his story about the USB dongle charger. He had to get permission. Could he just be a front man........ Very weird just listening to him.
@raphaelpirker3406
@raphaelpirker3406 10 месяцев назад
I said others focus on performance regardless of the tradeoff, not TBS. I had to get permission to access hardware engineering resources within the company, as it wasn't my team. I am now responsible for all of TBS, but I wasn't before (e.g. production speed, development, etc). And I have said multiple times that I am just the front man - and now sole owner. I am not qualified to do most of the engineering, but I decide the direction that TBS is now taking (before it was a democratic process).

i spend more on this hoby than any of my life long motorcycling, windsurfing, and computer hobies. This is an expensive hobie. I throw around $300 a week on it and alll of my time. I swear I am going to lose my job and start asking friends and family for money to substain my addiction.

It can definitely get up there at times!!! Most my friends don’t spend that much, especially the less fortunate, mostly because I provide free repairs, gear, and builds to my community. We change out FETs regularly, it keeps ESCs reliable, and running cooler. Also when using a good BEC most other electronics don’t fail (unless mechanically broken). Batteries are honestly the most expensive and the most common stuff that get irreparably busted… but I do disassemble packs, match cells, and keep them going, so that’s mitigated some. When I grind and learn new stuff and fly a lot I can easily go through $200 every few weeks just in batteries. But flying like a normal person my expenses are usually very low. The trips CAN get into the hundreds… I had one rough trip… before I started repairing stuff and building as well as I do now (to mitigate mechanical damage). I went through 5 ESCs, a couple of flight controllers, a couple of VTXs, and 7 batteries and various other frame parts, motors and odds and ends… I didn’t total it up exactly but it was likely $700 or something for less than 20 hours of flying that long weekend… that’s when I realized I gotta fix stuff 😜 It’s just too wasteful otherwise. Rarely do I have electronics that are not repairable nowadays, it’s now mostly, in order, battery cells, frame parts and motors. I do preventative maintenance and inspections, flush my motor bearings every flight day with fresh grease, change bearing, shafts, magnets, and rewind motors when necessary. I don’t do anything for the mangled and cracked bells and bases though… if I can’t fix it in a reasonable amount of time I don’t bother, motors are cheap. Not worth bending or welding or machining or any of that… even though I technically have the skills. Gotta draw the line somewhere 😜

Am I the only one that is constantly seeing new pilots in the forums and sims? I think Trappy is wrong about growth of the hobby overall. Of course there will always be dedicated crsf pilots but the new pilots are getting into elrs unless they are into long range which is a bit like his example of helicopters and frsky. There are other purposes for crsf of course, but I think he's missing the big picture.

He's definitely wrong. DJI makes 2 FPV drones. That alone has exposed a massive new population to FPV.
