I bought a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor and it has a Vortex scope my Remington Woodsmaster 740 in .308 with Bushnell scope. I love them both.
Hey bro, I've been looking at your videos and there's a good bit of info to soak up. I also love how open minded you are to the comments and how much you interact with everyone, much love!
Great video review as always Doc! I’m really surprised at how smooth the Thomson was and your three shot bolt cycling was faster than Lee Harvey Oswald! But your such a good shot you could us a Rutger #1 and still make one shot kills!,🎯
I really like my Ruger American in 7mm-08. Between my son and me, we have taken 7 deer with it the last 3 hunting seasons. I have considered a Savage Axis as well. I think I would prefer the Axis II for the Accutrigger. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your videos. Greetings from Central Kentucky.
My hunting buddy has Ruger American Go Wild in 308 and I hoping to review it soon as hunting season is over ;-) and congrats on those 7 deer brother. God bless from Northern VA.
I love my TC Compass II in .308 Win but I am glad to see you give some respect to Browning AB3. On of my favorite podcasts is the Vortex series and Mark has one of the older model Browning A-Bolt in .300 WSM, which has served him well and he took it on a black bear tag in in Washington (state.) I also love Vortex scopes but I just recently got an Arken SH4 GEn 2 4 - 16 X 50 mm because I like their features in that mag range. I need to sight it in and see if I can get another month and a half of feral hog hunting in.
@@randymeyers4115 Yes and that was one of the things I really like about it, especially for hunting. It has a 3 position lever safety on the bolt. All way forward is full fire ability, the bolt moves, the trigger can fire. Second or middle position, the trigger will not fire but you can still cycle the bolt and eject casings and load new rounds. Third or rear position is full safety. The trigger will not pull and fire, the bolt cannot be moved. I have gotten so used to it that going back to my Patriot and MVP LR with tang safety feels a little odd. In addition, I have found that my Compass II in .308 Win surpasses factory promises. The promise is 1 MOA on the first 3 shots. My first two shots out of the box were 1/2 MOA. However, it can be particular and price is no object. The Armscor 168 HPBT worked better than Federal Nontypical Whitetail and better than Hornady SST. What works that well with it, is Federal Fusion 165 grain. Put on a muzzle brake and a Falcon Strike hydraulic and it is a comfort to shoot. Just recently, I transported it to an Oryx chassis, which will probably bring the groups down to 1/4 MOA from the 1/2 MOA average I am getting after 40 rounds. At less than 100 yards, I am going through the same hole. I don't mean the mickey mouse pattern. I don't mean keyholing and widening the hole. I mean going through the same hole and you have to watch the paper ripple around it to tell that you went through. For a rifle that initally cost $400 plus tax and free shipping from guns dot com. Get one.
Love your videos doc. To take out bolt on savage try pull trigger with left hand depress bolt release button with right hand and hold it down take left hand off trigger and pull out bolt with left hand..to put back in I think you only need to pull trigger
I have a tc compass ii with crossfire scope package that I purchased with $50 rebate. $350 my total cost. It also is a great shooter. Also has 4 x12 vortex scope. Kygunco
I do find it funny for a person like yourself who shoots less then 4 rounds at deer always goes for the higher capacity magazine. Lol. The rotary magazine could have mechanical issues. The savage is at least metal compared to plastic 👍🏻👎🏻🤷♂️. I’m not sure about replacement value if you loose your magazine. I carry extra rounds with me just in case so magazine capacity is not a big deal. I wish you did the three rifle comparison. I’ve looked into all three of those rifles. Along with the Winchester. If I looked at the two I think I would go with the TC just like yourself. If you look at the three I’d go the AB3. Then if the Winchester gets in the pile well Winchester all the way. Lol. Once again great review Doc. I’m pretty sure this review will make people swing in either direction pending on their personal preference because of how thorough you are in you reviews.
Thanks bro and I heard some people were having problems with rotary magazine too but so far it's been good to me. Maybe I should do a comparison with Compass n AB3 but they are in different price range but it'll be interesting and fun. Thanks bro n God bless.
I have owned both. I agree, despite the trigger shortcomings, I think the compass is a better rifle. I have one in 6.5 I got for $189 after rebate! Mine has shot 0.5" groups easy with ammunitionit likes.. The only." budget "rifle i have that I like better....is a howa 1500 in .243 I bought for $300. Not really a fair comparison however, as the howa is sort of a different quality class.
Most ammo cost me 40 and higher cost me 65 for gmx 243 and 30.06. I liked buying 270 because it was always 40 a box but i traded off my 270s. Id like to get a bolt action 7.62x39 or even .223 bolt action would be nice, still 40 a box for 7.62x39 and .223 , ill stick to plinking with my cooey winchester 64b 22lr and hunting with the centerfires.
ruger american or american predator I'd better than both imo many people shooting 1000yards with the predator In 6.5cm or 308 you should get one and do a review
I don't like the new Savage axis stocks And the new logo is 💩 bring back the Old Logo. I really like the wood 🪵 stock from Factory did a good job 👍🏽. I'll go Savage axis ii XP in eny 30 caliber Big 30 cal. Guy
