The time-honored tradition of the drunken helicopter is not taken lightly in the Navy diver community, I can tell you that! Testosterone and alcohol --it's fire in the disco! You have so many stories that other legionnaires don’t share. I hope you write a book you can have a great modern book on all of your experiences plus including your US military for comparison and contrast.

Thanks TCav! Hey I just wanted to throw this out there, I recently saw that pet therapy helps people deal with pain. I woke up stiff as a board and started feeding the neighbors chicken and it’s helped take the mind off of pain. Off topic but I hope it helps someone if you’re struggling with pain.

Pretty sure I saw one of you guys at Napoleon's tomb out front of a small guard shack. Most amazing thing seeing Napoleon and the great Generals of France who are there.

It started in the 1990s, I remember bombs hidden in street trash cans and exploding in busy Paris streets. When I moved to the US In 2000 I Remember one of my coworkers coming back from a trip from Paris and being shocked seeing heavily armed policemen walking in the streets. I guess since then we got used to that too here 😒

Hi sir, merci pour ton service 🫡.I’m originally from a country colonized by France I don’t know if you will ever see this but if you do. I’m 24 years old about to graduate from college from one of California biggest institutions. And I still pray everyday to join the army or marines as an officer. Why the US won’t let legal immigrants like myself who came on visa to serve in their military? I’ve been living in the US for 5 years now pursuing my education and I want to serve this country not only because of citizenship but because I love this country for the better opportunity and education I’ve gotten here. It’s all over the news that the us military has not meet their ratio for recruitment once again this year. Why offer illegal immigrations who came to this country with no background check and opportunity to serve in the us military instead of those who came here legally and wants to help the country. The world is going to see many more conflicts arising and the us will certainly need more people to serve. Just an opinion. Merci 🫡

Loved the story. Gave me flashbacks. You made me think of the past a bit, you're right about some of it being positive. Made me think of the neck and shoulder massage you get after a haircut in Japan & Okinawa. We also had a Mamasan, she would do laundry and press your uniform for $4 per week (It was an expensive luxury at the time). It's too bad she didn't clean weapons too! She would come into our barracks to pick up the laundry while we were coming out of the showers and getting dressed. No one cared. She saw a lot of naked guys in her line of work. I haven't thought of that since, thank you for the uplifting flashback.😄
