The audience in Copenhagen had to wait a year for Chloe to finally make it to this summer festival and I am sure they were as thrilled by her performance as she was thrilled to be there. I am only sorry that more of her performance pieces have not been released on RU-vid. IMHO this performance was as much a Tchaikovsky meditation as it was a reflection and meditation of her personal journey. I remember being amazed at how at 10 years she had already figured out an interpretation of Telemann, Fantasia No. 10 that aligned perfectly with the composer's organ pieces. This piece demonstrated the strength of her bowing, particularly on the G string, and how she is so good at controlling amplitude and pacing to sustain very long melodic lines both ascending and descending. What more can be said, other than keep practicing Professor Chloe! This is amazing! Kudos to all your support in Singapore, including Yin Ke, Lim Yan, your loving parents and the SSO. We are all with you. P.S. Poul Rosenbaum was great accompanying you. Impressive.
J’adore écouter jouer Chloe, la maitrise de son violon, des oeuvres interprétées, la finesse, la sensibilité, la splendeur qu’elle sait rendre à chaque fois. Absolument magique ❤❤❤❤
What a rich colourful sound she creates through this piece. Expressive yet subtle, a masterful performance and the way she develops the sound of the longer notes is just sublime!
Tchaikovsky''s chamber music is very underrated. The sheer sophistication and razor-sharp intelligence of this performance is, as far as I have been able to discover, unmatched. Chloe makes manifest the emotional and spiritual depth and power of the work for all to hear. Of course, she is just starting out, and she has many hard obstacles still to overcome. But as far as this work is concerned, she leaves even Oistrakh, Kogan, Stern, Milstein, Perlman, Vengerov, Jansen, and Fischer in her slipstream.
Hi Jack. Greetings from Singapore. Luv reading yr insightful comments about violin-playing. One question. How does 2023 Christian Li compare to 2023 Chloe Chua?
@@pregnantenglish6019 Hello there. Greetings from England! Your question made me realise that sadly, I haven't yet heard any of Chloe's 2023 performances: none of them have been made available on-line. Christian's performances are even more inaccessible. Since he signed for Decca, soon after Menuhin 2018, very little of him has been posted on-line. The last opportunity to compare them was provided by their guest recitals for the 2021 Menunhin competition, which initially were posted together in a single video. Unfortunately, because the Christian/Decca deal only allowed Menuhin to post Christian's recital for a couple of weeks, Menuhin had to take the joint video down, and then re-post Chloe's recital on its own. In consequence, many people who now know Chloe's recital won't have seen his. I watched and compared them both while the joint video was still posted. Even though Christian's recital was excellent, that Chloe had surged ahead of him was _very_ obvious. The video attracted a huge amount of interest, everyone being so excited to see the two of them again after Menuhin 2018. I remember posting under it a comment "Christian is a better version of himself. But Chloe has transformed into some kind of super-being." Chloe has gone from strength to strength since the 2021 Menuhin, and her 2022 performances were all magnificent. I would be very surprised if their relative standings now are different from what they were in 2021. I guess the "Four Seasons" provides another comparison. I think Christian's cd performance was a year before Chloe's, so the comparison isn't quite fair - a year is a long time in life of such young musicians - but the fact is that Chloe's superb cd is on a different level (and then some; I didn't like Christian's "Four Seasons" at all). Christian's second cd has just come out. I haven't heard it yet but it includes the Mendelssohn violin concerto, and I look forward to hearing that. I hope that you have been able to attend at least some of Chloe's concerts this year, and so that unlike me, you actually know what 2023 Chloe is doing!
@@jackburgess8579 Thanks, Jack for taking the trouble to explain at such length. Unlike u, I don't have a discerning ear for musical greatness ... or anything less. I jes enjoy the angelic music these young people create thru' their talent, passion n hard work. Thanks again for yr insightful reply. Hope yr senior years will always be wonderfully happy n blessed. Cheers!
I noticed that her vibrato was different than what she has done in other pieces, and despite her young age (15 yrs) at the time of this performance, I think this was intentional on her part. This was her interpretation of what she viewed were the composer's feelings, and while I was not entirely comfortable with the extent of her vibrato, she chose that over the more overt rubato which can be heard by other musicians whose performances are on RU-vid, including a Russian violinist and another with some Russian ethnic heritage. Tchaikovsky's life was full of contradictions and conflicts - you can hear it in this piece. Perhaps Chloe Chua will perform this piece differently 10 years from now; perhaps not. But I am more than willing to accept her performance as a valid interpretation.
Un bibrato que a mi parecer arruina su musicalidad... Si maestro debió haberle advertido.... Se oye tartamudo... No no..... Inventos absurdos no porfa.
