As a ballet dancer this is one of the most touching moments. Backstage everyone is watching as the sugarplum fairy does her final role before going off into the real world. It’s stunning
every time i watch someone in my company do this role i always have to keep myself from sobbing backstage lol. i can’t wait until i earn the chance to dance this role :)
it’s crazy how easily classical music can capture your emotions. some songs with words these days don’t even connect with me as much as classical music does. just priceless
it’s like, we all have different stories and there isn’t any lyrics to describe our story, that’s why we connect so well. we can use our own imagination yk?
Tchaikovsky wrote this after his beloved sister deceased. He loved her and was most closest to her. 💖U are an artist for u are 'feeling' what composer felt
Tchaikovsky thinking that he failed this ballet brings me tears because I haven't heard anything better than this in my whole life. I guess all of the great artists in the literary, art, and music world have had the tendency to think they're a failure.
I've heard this a thousand times in many Nutcracker versions, but to hear it slowed down sounds so deep! It's more beautiful and elegant yet gives a chilling and intense atmosphere.
as a dancer who has watched the nutcracker since she was extremely young, this is the most nostalgic pieces for me. i cry every time i hear it. the big crescendo is so powerful.
this is my favourite from the nutcracker but i also recommend other ballet songs such as swan lake, giselle, and la esmeralda but theres so much out there :)
@@jasphann Don’t forget Sleeping Beauty and Raymonda! Both stunning musically. Edit: Add Shurale, Awakening of Flora, La Bayadere, and La Sylphide to the list.
When Tchaikovsky wrote this he was in extreme amount of pain and from what I know he thought his work for the nutcracker was a failure. Don’t be sad, be happy that he gave us this music through his pain.
This feels like falling in love but you’re so sure of your feelings and their feelings towards you that you can both freely speak together about your passions and your future families and you have no doubt in your mind that they aren’t meant for you... while you still are ignoring the little voice in the back of your head to stay cautious.
i love this because it's so incredibly heavy and majestic. Tchaikovsky somehow manages to create this massive, beautiful, gentle, delicate, serious, sad, joyful piece all with a harp flowing along. It almost reminds me of ascending a golden stairway to a heavenly forest. you know, those kinda vibes.
i never realized how fast this piece actually went, even in the slowed version.. it's so beautifully executed in this version that the falling time goes by overlooked
this sounds so lovely and youthful. like you're going on an adventure not caring about the consequences, like you're dancing with your lover in the fields during a sunset, like you're finally realizing what happiness is, like you're floating up in the air. it sounds so magical, there's something so unique and enchanting about classical pieces being slowed down. makes them so extraordinary and electrifying
I envy your innocence. I believe Tchaikovsky wrote this in memory of his sister I think the feeling of carelessness and freedom is meant to portray the soul being "freed" from the body
I remember when i was clara, and sitting on the throne wanting to cry during the big lift. for awhile, i’ve wanted to quit ballet because i knew that i was ever going to be the best at ballet and seeing seven year olds en pointe made me feel a certain way, but the sugar plum pas de deux makes me stay, i’ve wanted to be the sugar plum for so long, i can’t just throw ballet away. thank you for this i love “watching” myself dance to this, i cry every single time.
A fact about this piece: Tchaikovsky was thinking about his sister who had already passed away while composing it. It might be one of the reasons why it sounds so melancholic yet bittersweet.
this piece always brought me to tears, so listening to this slowed down made me have a complete mental breakdown. Truly magical how music can move the soul.
Ever since i was a little kid this has remained my all time fav classical music piece. It's slightly melancholic, romantic, and then it gets bombastic. It's all my favorite things in one!
The first time I heard this song, the same thought also came to my mind. I have been with my partner now 12 years, due to financial circumstances we have yet to marry. But I believe the day might come, and listening to this beautiful symphony let’s me believe!
I feel like in a room with a partner and just watching us dance while time takes us away How can such music touch from deep within, music is the most magical thing and I'm greatful that I'm not deaf.
im a classical music enthusiast and ive heard this piece various times before, but this really made me baffled and open mouthed irl. Tchaykovsky was the best, he is one of the few who ever did this to me
It's a strange predicament, we as humans can brinh such captivating beauty into the world. But only if we've truly suffered, sure we can make happy songs that are undeniably beautiful but true awe inspiring beauty like this can only be drawn from the depths of the heart
I will forever love this piece. 🖤 I'd say it's already perfect but the slowed makes it even better, since you can capture every detail easily, thank you for this.
I was in ballet on and off as a child and i miss it now, but i got into classical music and tchaikovsky is my favorite and when i found out he wrote the music for the ballet i always loved to do it was a lovely feeling. I still adore his music and it is truly a gift to have it so easily accesable.
I have never heard this before but it sounds so precious and pure. Its so solitaire yet it is within every last one of our emotions. It stands out in the emptiness and that's what makes it so beautiful and unique. I love this. Never knew me at the age of 14 in 2023 would love something like this. Just wow, incredible. ♡♡♡♡♡
This song always makes me think about that one scene in the nutcracker cartoon when Clara is explaining she can’t leave home behind and all of her new friends are heartbroken 💔😢
Damn, didn't think pas de deux could become even more beautiful, but having it slowed is just... an experience. Someone please find a way to properly compose this so that it can be played in real life.
All you have to do is find a long note in this piece, tune to that temperament, and or transpose down if its needed, then subtract from the BPM. However a technical problem arises: if the instruments being used can be tuned to that temperament at all without physically damaging the instrument,or just being impossible and or improbable to do in the first place for that instrument. So if the tuning is super weird, you need to create new instruments to accommodate it.
