What a wonderful piece of music this is and beautifully and sensitively played. The complete silence and stillness at the end of it speaks louder than words of how much it has affected the audience.
Maestro Gregiev sounds whole lot better than others. Although captivating hear from this video I heard a brief but violence bang at very end of Mvmt. 1. What was that?
D. Richard Carlson It is a live recording. Maybe one of the musicians or a technician stumbled against a microphone stand. One will never know, will one?
Gergiev.."master ofmasters"? Piffle. He can't give decent down beat-he distorts the music right away from what is actually written down. Its quite obvious that the band are taking little notice of what he is doing otherwise it would be a dire mess of ensemble problems If he were a truly brilliant conductor I could forgive the " What a great artist I am" aspect to it. He should stand there and serve the work, not himself.
