TCL Alto 6+ Sound Bar and Subwoofer Review 

My daughter bought one and I sent her your video link to which she replied that she does not agree with your sound quality descrption and told me it is in fact very good and a vast improvement over normal TV sound. She is sending her old folks (us) in Venezuela, so we are glad to hear this. Only $44 on some Black Friday special! Bless her soul!

I believe that your review is spot on Erin. I'm an old guy who has had sound systems from BOSE to Sony so I know how to compare the sound verses your budget. I have this system attached to a 32 Inch TLC Roku TV in my office and it rocks for my current sound needs and budget for this location. I would highly recommend the purchase of this system! I purchased this about a year ago and I absolutely love it. I have it hooked to a 32" TCL HDTV that is my computer's monitor. The downward firing sub under my desk is enough for RU-vid videos, or hockey games. I'd buy it again.

There is no adjustments. The sound bar over powers the sub they need a way to adjust the bass.

Purchased this on my birthday. Best gift ever, love how it makes my floor rumble. ♡ Definitely would buy it again.

One thing I learned by accident from a cheap RCA brand sound bar someone gave is: I had to put it on the second shelf of my TV stand and with it there the bass kicked in. I now have the jbl 2.0 sound bar and it even has a lot of bass because I put it below the TV on the second shelf instead of directly underneath the TV. Something you can try out and hear the difference. I don’t think these things work good when at ear level or above.

For the money, this system is a Five+. Ease of setup (I used the HDMI ARC). I have the system connected to a wall mounted 32 inch TLC Roku TV in my home office. I've read all of the reviews and all of the negative comments are total BS. This system is by NO means a BOSE! But for the budget minded, this system is an absolute FIVE+. My two test DVD's for TV sound systems are the movie Top Gun and the music concert of Pink Floyds 1994 Pulse Concert. My office has hardwood floors and the base rocks at half volume. Take it from an old guy and sound connoisseur, this system is well worth the money!

Bass on the system is great. I tucked it away in the bottom of an end table which allows the sub to resonate. It shakes the floor now. It’s all about air movement. Just like installing a sub in your car, face the subs away for more resonant bass, never face them towards the front of the vehicle.

i bought it yesterday.. watching this today, i totally agree with u.. its a pity i should have watched it earlier.. i would have choosen a different product. this is indeed an "entry level product"

I have this sound bar connected to a TCL 65S433 using the HDMI ARC port. It sounds great when using any of the HDMI inputs connected to a source, but when I use the streaming services I have to crank the volume up to 90% or 100%. Is there a setting I may be missing?

Can you turn the volume up and down using the buttons of the physical sound bar. I just returned a 6+ bc the buttons weren't doing anything. I don't want to find my my remote Everytime I want to turn down the volume

I USE THIS FOR TAILGATING. I GOT A BATTERY INVERTER AND USE IT AS MY SOURCE OF POWER WHEN AC IS NOT AVAILABLE. I CONNECT TO MY IPHONE AND USE PANDORA OR RU-vid FOR MY MUSIC. TRULLY PORTABLE

I think you needed to set up your Subwoofer in correct spot...takes a few tries and it pays off!! It's a great deal and works best in bedrooms

Can you connect it to a non Roku tv?

The subwoofer didn’t connect automatically. I held pair on the sub and also on the bar to see if they’d match and they still didnt

I bought this soundbar on the 4th of July weekend and just recently I found a solution to improve the music sound by having an equalizer installed on my phone from the Google play store and now I can get good clean sound that makes this budget system sound great!!!🎶🎚🎛👍👍👍

I should've waited for your review on the TCL ALTO 6 +. I picked up the Samsung HW - A550 from Crutchfield for a bit more at $228.00. I have yet to watch a movie though.Thank you for this review though.Have a good weekend Erin

Question: I just received a Yamaha soundbar and a SHU sub... I tried hooking it up to my bedroom TV (Sony A9S Oled 48"), The light's are on on the Sub, I have the sub connected to the Soundbar but there's no sound from the sub. The soundbar plays but not the sub. Suggestions? Thank you Joe

Great review Erin! I considered buying the TCL Alto 6+ but the mixed reviews deterred me. Vizio seems to make some of the best budget soundbars. I've had a 2.1 and currently have a 5.1 from Vizio, and their sound quality has always been great for me. I also have the Polk Signa S2 and I've been really happy with it.

For better experience you should be putting the sub in an inclosed location or surrounded by objects on all sides.

I have a TCL Google TV, not Roku. Does that mean that I cannot use the TV's remote to control volume with this soundbar?

I just ordered one of these, but it was a free gift from my employer. It was either this or something like binoculars or a sleeping bag, so ... not a particularly hard choice. Thanks for the seemingly honest review. The other review I watched just involved the usual gushing, which doesn't seem legit.

Down firing subwoofer and carpet doesn't match. Carpet is probably muffing the sound. You need wooden or another hard floor.

I just purchased this from Best Buy. Setup is extremely easy. Took me less than 5 minutes. The sound is GREAT!! Bass and treble balance are Great! I have hard wood floors and the bass woofer gives me enough bass to satisfy me. I would definitely recommend!! Of course it's better out there but for the price, you can't beat it!

You can't reduce the subwoofer volume which is maddening.
