A short video of portions of the first three tDCS sessions of a client, who had Severe Broca's aphasia, receiving tDCS treatment. tDCS sessions occur during one of the regularly scheduled treatment sessions as part of the 5 hours of intensive treatment daily. tDCS is experimental for aphasia treatment--there have been many studies finding benefits from it's use. However, there are many variables involved in using tDCS, so science hasn't figured out who is an ideal candidate, where to stimulate, etc. yet.
This particular client was ideal due to her severe aphasia, but also because she had completed intensive sessions in the past. We had pre-existing knowledge of her deficits and progress up until tDCS treatment, so it was easier to see when she learned something that she hadn't learned previously in intensive treatment.
