My question as well so I suggested: "Also, you might want to address the polarity issue with the batteries. They need to go in series (stacked + to -) and when the battery clip is installed it needs to go in at one direction. Remove and rotate the cap if the meter does not turn on." There are no markings on the tester for battery direction. 1 NoFate247

Why does mine have X10 on the display screen. It reads 697 X10 ppm. Is my ppm 697 or 6,970? I can't find any help on this.

What do you do if your TDS meter changes values minutes after retesting original samples? I tested three different sources, fridge, sink and a Water Drop filter; the original water sample values all changed when resampled. Fridge has two carbon filters, sink has two particulate filters (whole house filters) and Water Drop has its own carbon filter. Original values were 275 on fridge then upon second testing of the sample rose to 295. Now they are all reading about 295 (on municipal water). Also, you might want to address the polarity issue with the batteries. They need to go in series (+ to -) and when the battery clip is installed it needs to go in at one direction. Remove and rotate the cap if the meter does not turn on.

@@NoFate247 yes, I think the meter is faulty. I've replaced batteries. The motherboard and screen came out, I put back in but I looks like it could go in another quarter inch but doesn't.

This measurement is the mass of a chemical or contaminate per unit volume of water. Seeing ppm or mg/L on a lab report means the same thing

Assuming the water is not 0, then you can make sure you don't have HOLD selected. Try reinstalling the batteries

Mine was a cheap one which you can get on eBay maybe £60. But do not get one with a plastic container for the water as it will leak over time. I just use a large cooking pot to collect my water. Will find a link if you want to know the exact one, but my model is zokop.
