To be honest, I use maul with Pavise shield on the back, just so I can tell the archers to stick it up their arse by turning around and crouching backwards towards them.. It saves your ass lots of times, even if it just catches the random arrow... Mostly from teammates shooting into melee.^^
@Joost Schenk That is included in the "Are you a piece of shit?" portion. Most rapierknobs use shields along with them, and even without them you're just as much of a pile of cowshit, except maybe with a 5% subtraction.

@@undrscor6741 You joke about that but that's literally what real ninja did. They'd take a bunch of people of similar height and build and dress the same to confuse the enemy. That's what Shadow Clone Jutsu (and fictional ninja duplication in general) is based on.
For shield + one handed sword, you need to chamber their attack and to morph your chamber into a kick. You get a free stab with most weapon and wreck their stamina. Do this 2 times while keeping the stamina advantage, make them lose their shield, cotinue with their weapon, parry their first fist attack and obliterate them with a unstopable swing they can't dodge or parry 10/10 sometimes always work
To add onto this, if you circle to their right and use a top right side overhead slash, you can catch the back of their leg with the back of the swing sometimes.
I watched this video where he said to cut downwards, jump and move mouse down to hit their head from behind. or stab and then drag it into them, he said it will hit them from behind
I didnt realize toolkit was so underutilized. I've found it works best when you know your team is going to work with you a little. Smoke and spike wall can go a long way in capping an objective. A turret with fire arrows is always really nice for taking a point that's been fortified, or sniping enemy siege.
You forgot the most cursed weapon: The Scimitar or how it is known in the community as the Scimitard, a sword that is easy to use, spam and combo without any effort. Also, Maul is similar to Eveningstar but more cursed, at least Eveningstar players have some skill while Maul players just swing that freaking hammer left and right and kill without even seeing them.
Protips. 1. rebind stab. There are a lot of good binds that are better than on the scroll wheel. 2. Kick shield users. It works wonders.(unless they are paying attention and block your kick with a kick.) cheers.
For shields, you can actually still stab around the shield while its up. They also have terrible visibility, so if they are turtling they cant see if you kick. Additionally, shields eat up a lot of stamina, so just keep attacking and kicking without letting them retreat and they’ll run out of stamina and drop the shield

With the shield guys, the only have so much stamina. If you continuously attack them, they will eventually run out, thus you hitting their shield out of their hands.
This only works if there are no other enemies around. If you need a fast kill you either need to trick them with Feints and Chambers or go for the kick.
I have a crackhead build that I made which I equipped with a hand axe, 2 sets of throwing knives, no armor, and about as many perks as I could carry. It's the only build I've made that can single handedly win a 1 v 3 against fully armored players. Mordhau really is one of the games of all time
How to deal with shield users: Drag a stab to the outside of their shield and then back inside just before it lands, also helps to strafe around them to the side you want to do this to Spam stabs until they run out of stamina, especially with multiple teammates present Kick them. You know, the F button? Real magical stuff. You can also do an overhead drag, and jump and point your mouse down right before it lands. The arc of the blade will be entirely behind the shield if you do this.

How to deal with shield+1h people... repeatedly scrollwheel their shield until they run out of stamina, and keep scrollwheeling them until their empty stamina causes them to drop their shield and weapon... it's quite easy really... Works best on those using toggle-shields though... parry shields are basically the same as regular weapon-blocks, and function the same way...
toolkit is good for making chokepoints on maps, or lightly increasing the defence on cap points (until they throw a firebomb then game over). you can also fully stop horses in their track with 3 planks of wood barely nailed together, which makes absolutely no sense. just make a ballista then fortify and you'll be good for a while. shielders: kick. kick so much. occasionally switch to swings so the moron leaves himself open. trying to win a stamina fight against a shield is useless.
most effective way to kill shields is to run up and kick the shield. kicking an opponent stuns them and allows a free hit but you have to chain the hit mid kick so it lands before they can block it. Its pretty shitty since the kick has a lower range than it should and is also slowed down when morphed or feinted from a stab or strike so its hard to run up to them feint-spamming then going for the kick. Furthermore if you're in heavy armour it will be even harder since you're slow as fuck and will find it very hard to kick them even if you're in their face when you actually start your kick. Note: when kicking or attacking in general make it a habit to sprint forward while performing the attack, this will prevent you missing if they are too far, footwork is key in mordhau.
Agree on the shields, in exception to the targe and buckler, they don't hold to block, requiring more skill. They instead just reduce stamina drained when blocking.
I tried Mordhau today and suddenly I remembered why I quit gaming it the first place. Your little vid sums it up pretty well. Basically, the game is still too laggy to get any timing right. Or at least it is for me - the only weapon I can get a kill now and then and rack up a meager 1:1 KD rating is the good ol' Rapier and/or Estoc, both weapons are based on thrusting attacks instead of swings. Same goes for other thrusting weapons, like the spear (long / short) or mixed weapons that don't have a weighting towards swinging attacks (I think the Bardiche is one). Any weapon that needs to be timed perfectly is absolutely unenjoyable for me, be it Axe, Sword or Hammer. The animation does not sync up with that I am doing. There's a windup / input lag involved. Even if you swing your weapon *exactly* the same time as the other dude, he's still faster since you actually get a lagged update. In reality, the guy is 50ms - 200ms ahead of you. The entire game fails for me due that entirely time based gameplay - which simply does not translate well if the server lags (nearly always). And yeah, the entire teamkill business is a biiiiiiig problem. I simply don't do the swinging weapon business anymore. So in the end I always find myself using the same three or four weapons, the medkit and that's it. Most of the fun stuff does not work well with lag / timing for me. Even switched the attack mode: primary attack now is stabbing. 'cuz that's the only thing that works, even with lag involved. Also it reduces chances to teamkill. And the worst of it: it does not chop off legs :( If the devs just got the timing a bit less strict and more forgiving, I could give it another try ... :\ So long -> salty sea ^^

To deal with shields: Get their stamina low from kicking them dodging their attacks out then proceed to bend them over with your Big PP battle axe and make them regret turning the PC on in the first place.
I just can't conprehend how people finish a a game with like 45 kills and 13 death, while my average game in mordhau ends with 5 kills and something like 40 death 💀
@@BobetoSlim they need to increase the range and accuracy of the kick while not reducing the speed when morphing or feinting attacks into the kick. The only issue I see with buffing the kick is that it does 20 stamina damage so getting kick spammed could well become the norm so maybe nerfing that damage to 15 or less could be a viable option.
This is true, but the range of the kick is shorter than everything in the game. I've tried morphs and feints into kicks, but since I have to stand still for the kick animation and even swings people back up from I cannot hit anyone with it. Same with people who sidestep it.
You forgot about the other one: Do you want your enemy to have a fucking brain aneurysm and die at their keyboard before you even kill them? Yes: Carving knife. Super yes: frying pan AND carving knife
The game is 32 v 32 so 9/10 you will get ganked by two people or more so shield is a good way to protect yourself in this situation. Also, is running around with no armor weilding a halbert a bit more troll than it is for a knight to be defending his life with the greatest of protection?

Am i the only one that thinks it would be a neat idea to bring in eastern weapons and armor to Mordhau? Yeah it would make the game a lot like For Honor, but the idea of Japanese, Chinese, and Mongol weapons and armor sounds fucking cool.
I am a pikeman... I don't "duel" but i ALWAYS help without teamkilling anyone ever. Also you can hold chokepoints with a spear like crazy, just switch target mid-stab and suprize the enemies trying to go trough a doorway or a tight corridor Ususally this gives time to the rest of your team to come and continue ouushing while you held the line alone. Unfortunately when it comes to 1v1 you can be defeated fairly easilly if you don't walk backward. But it's a good strategy in those 64v64 frontline massacres.
Use the tool kit to make cordon off sections of the map. Put spikes in bushes to lead people into. Get more ammo before you build stuff and you can build a stationary crossbow.

pretty amazing how different the game is now..... just swinging NEVER gets you a kill or even a hit anymore..... every single player has parry down unless u feint it nowadays
@@LighterSTdude a stab to the head can deal quite a lot of damage(a stab into a heavily armored torso deals 25dmg IIRC, which is the quarter of one's health), with its swing speed and some help from other factors like dodge perk, environment, teammates maybe unless they're busy stabbing you instead, smoke bomb (believe me it's also quite useful lmfao) you can get many kills! P.S. I have only 22 hours in the game lol
