World news a man and woman from Germany rebuild a land rover discovery engine Christian who is the engineer and fabricator of many specialised tools is helped by technical officer and perfectionist Vera during the rebuild of the engine many people in an otherwise dull world where educated and entertained by the worlds leading land rover experts tune in again next week to watch and be entertained LR Time is the highlight of Sundays ❤❤
This is my dream, to completely rebuild the Lion V6. So easy outside the engine bay. Yes, satisfying clicks as everything is torqued down. Thanks for the inspiration.
Dont be fooled dear friends,,, this is much more than master team in action ,, it is the beginning of a veritable cult not unlike top gear or wheeler dealers,,,,,this is good enough to serialised on TV,,,,,, I adore these videos,,, and I dont even OWN a land Rover,,,,, yet ,Gruss Gott
I never get tired of watching these engine assembly videos. I learn something new each time. Many thanks for the video. BTW blanking an EGR valve is illegal here as well but some people will still do it.
Funny old world, in Germany you have you folks rebuilding Land Rovers and their engines and in the UK we have people rebuilding Land Rovers and swapping their engines out for the Bavarian beasts.
Hello. your videos are the best about this engine, inspire them i will complete my engine after couple days . i hope i will done all correct. thanks you for instructions and suggestions . From Latvia. :)
ITS LR TIME😊😊😊😊 such precession and good engineering.vera sounds soooo excited today.its nearly there! Just a few more weeks!!! It should be brillant.enjoy your week folks and I'll see you in the next exciting episode 😊😊😊😊😊
sorry I am late but I have had my sisters funeral, apart from that i would love to go the Iceland as I maybe could see the Arora its great to see you getting on with that engine and so many here in the UK block of the EGR thanks for the video
Iceland is an excellent choise for a trip with a Land Rover. I've been there once (without a car) 10+ years ago for a hike near Hecla Volcano and also in the place called Kirlingafoel. Iceland is insanely beautiful and those who are used to tents and mountain trailing love it. I'm sure you alreay know all of this. But the roads in the wilerness are really a challenge for any truck. I think the suspension will really suffer from rocky trails. And moving around to reach most wild places will not be fast at all. But it's all really worth the efforts. Good luck in Iceland. And don't miss the summer season - it's really a very short there.
Good evening Vera & Christian from sunny Tenerife 😊 it’s my fault again as I stupidly voted Brexit and I now don’t have mobile roaming free so I have to wait until I get WiFi 😥 Anyway it was a fantastic video seeing the heart ❤️ of the lovely Vera’s LR being put back together with the finest German surgeon Christian that knows nothing about Toyotas lol 😆 As always a big kiss for Vera 😘 x
Another great video, by the way I work on warranty for a very large automobile company , the replacement for EGR was AdBlue system.......this system is even more unreliable than EGR system for reducing NOX 😂 - what will the designers come up with next ? Maybe a timing belt running in oil 😂😂😂
Nice work as always. Also a nice Sunday refuge from the world's woes for a wee bit. Vera now you know what to buy him for Christmas, a new set of Drill bits and organizer for them.
I was getting worried for a while when I checked this morning for this video and it wasn't there just yet .... I nearly had a panic attack Another great video. I don't think Christian thinks he married the wrong girl although he probably didn't realise on your wedding day how important Vera would be in his future engineering endeavours. What a great team. Looking forward to seeing the Disco 3 on the road again.
I have a nice bucket for all the bits left over after i think i've built everything correctly. I'm willing to bet you don't have one of these buckets. Nice work, very meticulous, and very funny. 🤩
Love it as always. Let’s start a just for fun competition of what will be the first part to go on V’s newly refurbished LR3. I want to say it will be the cabin heater motor blower 💨relay. ❤LR Time
Vera: “Please don’t, that would be the end” Christian: “It would not be the end of mankind” Hahaha, banter like this is why I watch you guys even though I have no intention of rebuilding a Land Rover!
I deleted both EGR valves, did a remap to get rid of the fault, then at TUV, remotely I activate it to "work".... No problem at all, no clogged, no hot air in the intake... Work just nice
Hi Guy’s, l love your RU-vid channel and watch it every weekend. Your approach to repairs and maintenance are very refreshing. I just need to correct your description of egr function. The exhaust gas is not recycled to burn but as inert gas to lower the heat of combustion and reduce NOx. This comment is not as a jibe, I really enjoy your work. Hi from us in Australia
I'm slightly concerned Christian - when you were putting the cam belt on the right hand side ( looking from the front of the engine )sprocket you said to rotate the sprocket counter clockwise but I'm sure yo turned it clockwise ? I love you and Vera, I watch every episode and your engineering ability is amazing - no one would take the level of care and attention to detail you guys do. I don't own a Landrover but I love your channel anyway.
We were doing a job, and a company wanted us to put heli coils into the holes of the job that we just machined from scratch. They came back to us saying the threads would be four times stronger with helicoils than without. These were roughly M30 if not an inch and a quarter. In the oil industry in the North Sea some stuff is American.
A funny thing happened on the way home from my engine tuner - the EGR never opened again. I was really upset about it but the tuner said the thread broke and could not be restored again, so I just had to put up with all the benefits of no soot in my engine. Even the code I got occasionally from the blanking plate never showed again :)
Another fantastic video guys 😊 I’ve just finished doing the timing chains on my 5.0 Supercharged L322 this week. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in tinkering with my cars at the weekends! Keep up the good work!
You bot mentioned Iceland 🇮🇸 🤩 We are going there but not with a LR….. We’re going with our Volvo XC90 D5 Inscription 2019 🤫🫣 Are we looking forward to be towed by Christian & Vera in august ’24 😂⁉️ ( Nope , no serious offroad with our XC90 , if you don’t rebuild our ”Thor”🙄) Just kidding 😂 Thank’s for this v-log!
I hope someday you guys get your hands on a Discovery II and that you overhaul the Rover V8 or replace it with something else, that would be really interesting watching you bulletproof one of those very cool but notorious vehicles...
@@Vera_and_Christian I sometimes wonder what your neighbors think or if it cause you any problems with your town with your lift and extra cars in your driveway. I would think Germany would be strict about that sort of thing.
Is it legal to remap the ECU so that the valve stays closed? I guess not. The turbo pump? Vacuum pump for brakes? The injectors maybe cylinder specific, TD5 injectors get tested and given a performance value, he ECU gets told the value and operates the injector accordingly. As always, great work, fascinating to watch.
I'm looking very closely, but I can't find your box under the bench for all the spare parts and bolts that I couldn't find a home for 😂 Everyone needs a Vera with her bagging, boxing and labelling skills. 👏 Do you buy in odd nuts and bolts for just incase moments ? 😆
Has Christian covered the correct way to sharpen a hss drill ? does he do it by eye or homemade specialist tool We where not allowed a new drill bit from the stores until it was unusable jobber but those days we also had reconditioned jubilee clips recycle and reuse no wonder our company saved money
Vera, remember there is no ice on Iceland and no green on Greenland, sorry old Danish joke, seems like Cristian want to go where there is heat and sunshine?? And Vera wants to go where it is cold and rainy!!
I was hoping you'd test the injectors before fitting them as they could be out of spec, over or under fueling, I'm looking to do mine and was hoping for some indepth information. I did email you a while ago but no reply.
Hey mate , always very wonderful work ! If those engines had been assembled like you and your wife assemble them then they would still be working properly . What they needed was a factory full of German husbands and pretty wives assembling those engines with love . I’d buy those engines built like that .
Very excellent as always, but I still find the complexities of this engine horrible maybe not as bad as an Audi V8 but few would have the patience for a job like this. Great work
17:00 EGR never used? I viewed the live data for command and position on mine and they seem to fluctuate through various positions continuously depending on load. After replacing a faulty one the command and position match almost perfectly so I’m assuming there’s nothing wrong with them. I would love to know why they fail so often but I don’t think it’s as a result of being in one position for extended time. Am I missing something?
The EGRs are just not very good. They do a cleaning cycle on ignition off and you can hear them operating. Aftermarket ones are terrible but I had good experience with Valeo EGRs. Christian
If it was legal, would you blank off the EGR? I'm trying to assess whether blanking them is technically a good thing to do. Or whether the engine has been designed to run with EGR valve, so by removing it, does it stress other components?
Gracias
