TDW 1482 - Is John Dillinger REALLY Buried Here ? 

Really enjoy waking up, making my cup of coffee and watching The Daily Woo! The news used to be my morning routine but has gotten pretty depressing lately so this is definitely more refreshing to start my day with! Thank you!

Lizzie Dillinger was John Dillinger Jr's stepmother..his mother died when he was 3 and his father remarried.

Many of the airport shuttles will run on natural gas which I think is like the gas people will use in there homes for things like gas stoves etc...which may be the reason that station near the airport had those pumps.

I am from Mooresville, Indiana, the very small town John Dillinger and his family lived in for a while. We have family friends who own the house they lived in. My family and I were at a local restaurant in town, and my 4 year old son was wearing a Fedora hat and a vest...A man came up to us and handed us a photo of Dillinger...Dillinger was his great great uncle, and seeing my son in his "dapper" clothing, as he said, reminded him of Dillinger.

Its a shame they have to keep replacing his headstone. If you want a momento, take a picture. Don't desecrate someone's headstone. That just makes me sad.

Lol! I'm from Indpls too. Usually there's always a plastic squirt gun on Dillingers grave. For year's Dillingers father's grave was the one that got chipped on first because people assumed that the father died first age wise. Had they just paid attention to the BORN date on the stone they would've figured it out. That cemetery named Crown Hill also has former President Benjamin Harrison it as well as Civil War vet's along with many policeman. Poet James Whitcomb Riley is there too. It's now in the Ghetto so many people visiting deceased loved one's have been robbed & raped there too. Fact. I was an Indpls Policeman there for 2 year's. Indpls was also Elvis Presleys last concert at Market Square Arena now torn down. I'm never going back there again. Retired in Florida now.

My parents used to talk a lot about John Dillinger. They used to talk about going to the Biograph theater where he was shot. My dad was there ten years after the event, so he probably got to see it nearly the way it was in 1934. My mom was born and raised in Chicago, so she probably went to the Biograph often and as early as 1934. My aunt talked about getting confined by Chicago gangsters back then. She escaped through a window. I recorded her story on video. My mom also had such a story, but it wasn't quite as dramatic.

John Dillinger is buried in Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana As the cemetery placed a 24-hour watch detail on his grave for fear of his gang coming back to take his body or, more likely, the general public destroying the site, Dillinger’s father became increasingly fearful the plot would be tampered with. He had the cemetery dig up John’s wooden casket and then had it reburied with 4 giant concrete slabs, each reinforced with metal, at different depths. Anyone looking to dig up John’s body would face not 1, but 4 layers of metal and concrete. While most believe this was done to protect John’s body, other believe it was to ensure no one every tried to exhume the body (if there was a body). dillinger was awol from the navy. he was assigned uss utah. a ship that was sunk on dec 7, 1941,,,,,,, and with the arizona, the only 2 ships not to be raised.

According to prison records Lizzie worked harder to gain John's early release and parole, wrote more letters to John and public officials and visited him more than any other relative. John loved her and thought of her as his only mother because his birth mother Mollie died when John was only three years old. According to publications, John Sr. said he raised John along with a nanny until he remarried. John Sr. married Elizabeth fields from Mooresville, Indiana. On some occassions John would stay with his older sister Audrey who had a large family. Audrey did love John dearly but did not have the time to actually raise John as has been often misreported.

My mom refuses to eat sushi, too. She was a microbiologist and is convinced parasites and disease will invade, because *raw fish*!!!! She's not wrong, but you know... just getting out of bed in the morning is a risk. YOLO. May as well enjoy the yummy sushi. :-)

Those pumps are CNG Pumps (compressed natural gas). The dome is a doplar radar. WTHR i believe.

@ 2:30 Adam that is a CNG, or Compressed Natural Gas pump. Not many people have CNG vehicles, and especially since gas is cheap now there is no reason to use it.

the gas pumps you were questioning said "America's Natural Gas", not national.

Creative Googling has revealed: ANG pump is for cars running on natural gas, I had no idea that was a thing. Lizzie Fields Dillinger was John Dillinger's step mother, his father's second wife.

You should visit Metropolis, IL....Home of Superman....Robert Stroud AKA the birdman of alcatraz is buried here. Also there's the Superman statue and museum and the Noel Neil Lois Lane statue...also close to Metropolis is Big Bay which has a couple filming locations from the movie U.S. Marshals.

I remember back in 94, my family and I were passing through Indianapolis on our way to visit family in Northern Indiana, and we stopped to gas up at a dinky-dink corner gas station outside the big City. Since the guy working there pumped our gas, my father took that opportunity to head towards the bathroom before hitting the road again. He came back about 15 minutes later, with a little story. He claimed that when he was done with his business, he stepped out of the bathroom which was located near the outside rear of the gas station, and an elderly man was slowly walking through the back towards the freeway entrance. He was wearing all black, with an old, worn out black baron hat, and a leather suitcase. He introduced himself to my father simply as 'John' and went on his way. He had to of been every bit of 90+ years old. Crazy either way.

There was a boom in Indiana that came from the discovery of natural gas resources. It pretty much built the state and founded its modern economy. At one time they had gas towers across the state and openly burned it as a source of pride and a demonstration of wealth. Don't you do any research?

FedEx planes do have some limited amounts of "passengers",..employees can ride in a jump seat,...They used to do that a while back...not one million percent sure about todays flights though. I wonder if Dillinger has an escape plan from that grave,....?

If you're interested, check out a couple of Jim Jones' old churches (People's Temple) in Indy. Two are still standing. This was before he moved the church to SF and eventually, Guyana.
