Kia ora to you all, I grew up in Wellington, and sometimes we forget about our surroundings and take things for granted, coz its all around us everyday lol...its not until you leave home that you appreciate home more, especially when we hear or see ppl such as yourselves, visiting and reviewing our country, then all the memories come flooding back, and the memories of the beauty of our country....so thank you all, and i hope your stay was awesome...much love ❤

Te Papa is my favourite museum of all the museums I've been to. And I'm a museum nerd. I love them. Saw "The scale of our war" back in 2016. It's brilliant. Really hits home about the reality of war and how awful it is. The personal stories were really enlightening.

I agree this is one of the top museums. My favourite was the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk Poland.

Watching you in the Gallipoli exhibit brought me back to when I saw it and brought tears to my eyes - such an emotional experience to see what people endured. And the figures were so unbelievably real and emotive. Love Te Papa!

Really interesting to see your experience of the museum. I made a visit to this museum in 2009. I recall one exhibition showing Gaelic speaking Scottish sheep farmers and how they were transported to the other side of the world. I still remember this exhibition to this day. I was really interested in the Galipoli exhibition. I have spent a lot of time visiting war cemeteries in France and Belgium. I took and interest in Anzac stuff and New Zealand in particular. I visited New Zealand cemeteries in messiness Belgium. I was particularly touched at the contribution of such a small populated country to the war effort so far away from home. All but forgotten in UK after the war. I was aware Newfoundland was not part of Canada then as I saw this at the Newfoundland memorial museum on the Somme in France. Another amazing experience to see this place. Now under the control of Canada like Viny Ridge museum. Canada has done an excellent job with its war museums in France. Travel broadens the mind. Great to see your experience. Watching this brought back memories of my visit to this museum in 2009 and my short visit to New Zealand which in turn connected to my many visits to the battle museums and cemeteries of France and Belgium. Excellent video. Thanks Greetings from Northern Ireland 🇬🇧

@@shanefraser7764 Thanks. I loved New Zealand. Such a long way from UK Most people don’t get many chances to go so far with family responsibilities and household bills. New Zealand touched my heart. Hence I loved visiting the New Zealand cemeteries on western front in Belgium and France. Maybe someday soon me and my wife will get a chance to return. As soon as this global scamdemic is ended and the perpetrators behind bars. Here’s hoping. By the way only got to north island. Do next time got to include South Island.

The Auckland War Museum is another good museum ,another huge building,has the same level of interaction Te Papa has,but it is a Gold donation,which I think some of it goes to the War Veterans,but don't quote me on that.

I've been to Te Papa many times and used to organise a yearly Digital Solutions Expo on Level 3, however there is so much I have missed going by what you have shown. The whole museum is based around the Thematic Interpretation model, as outlined by Professor Sam Ham, and is quite different to traditional museums, making it much more interactive and interesting. I will have to go and take another look one day soon.
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders

That’s amazing. I guess when you go there to work you’re more focused on the expo vs discovering the museum. It’s definitely a unique experience. We’ve seen many museums in our travels and this one is in one of the top!

@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders That's nice to know that you see it as one of the best. My favourite one is the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Blenheim as this has to be one of the best in the world thanks to Weta Workshops. I'll have to ask Tara if she is planning to do something about covering it when I next see her. Are you coming to our This is New Zealand film premiere if you're still in Wellington?

Interesting to note that the Galllpoli hero,Lt.Colonel William Malone's great great grandson LCCP Rory Malone was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012, after pulling his commanding officer to safety. He was awarded the Gallantry Medal posthumously. The Nurse reading the letter always gets me at Te Papa.

We do have tornadoes, but not the same intensity as in the US. About 10 years ago a destructive tornado hit Auckland and at least one person died. Tornadoes are common all down the west coast of the North Island and the top of the South Island.
@johnpaki1534
@johnpaki1534 3 года назад
@@drayner2517 I like how you say not the same intensity as the us or the world for that matter I did Google it before commenting and because of NZ cold waters the storm needs warm water to interact with cold air otherwise it can't produce enough intensity to be destructive although we do have them it's not enough to even deserve a mention intact your sooner be hit by a bus than you would a tornadoe or hurricane but thanks for commenting😎
