Tea Session #1- SIMGOT EM6L - Flawless Victory? 

Yep, EM6L is no different. They are marching through price points delivering solid value sets.

Nice pickup at that price. It is one of those sets people love and keep or return it as the upper mids are not their thing. Tips are your friend on that one too

Yea they look like they have a lot of treble but I’ve used both dark and bright headphones and it just depends the song your listening to but they’re very smooth for having that much highs, I’m just exited for bass and highs

At the core, if SIMGOT is using Harman 2019, should look familiar, but they tend to max out their drivers with small tweaks in the response. Leads to that looks quite close on paper, might sound more different.

Yeah, the treble graph freaked me out. I am not sure exactly what they did, but something special. A small detail that went by most people but the first time I measured it, it was even more linear and I thought something was wrong. I left it curvier just to get the alignment.

@@PaulWasabii Maybe a weird ask, but any thoughts on the Simgot vs the Ikko OH10? I’ve narrowed down my choices to those two, and am basically torn on whether to go with the EM6L with its smoother, more “ideal” frequency response or the OH10’s nicer look and feel, but maybe requiring some EQ.

I haven't heard P5, but you should get your answer soon. There are enough EM6L out there that someone will compare them.

I wonder how they compare to each other also.

Sweet, there is always something shinier and newer, no need to jump when you don't have to.

All QDC look cheap. I think SIMGOT mentioned it was a necessary evil due to the space needed for the drivers. You can say I wish there was no QDC and a nicer cable which I think that is fair, but they also brough it out at a very reasonable price.

OG Olina without mods is tougher for me as I only liked it with mods. If you like OG Olina and how that works at lower volume, you are going to fall into that crowd that I mentioned, not big enough, maybe recessed. Sit back and watch the EM6L reviews come in. OG Olina has a couple peaks that work in favor of lower volume and EA500 is similar. Olina SE with more dampening is more like EM6L, more relaxed works better with a bit more volume as there is no real peaks there

@@PaulWasabii Thanks! I also saw Dan's sound demo, and I agree with what you said about not having any particular peaks and recesses in the upper mids and treble region. Im looking for an Olina replacement because condensation issues forced me to part with it. I like the fast dynamic driver in these recent Simgots and while the EA500 is a risk in that might get peaky in some narrow ranges depending on my ear. Thank for the info, Cheers!

Most people get soundstage wrong. You need to figure out how it works for your ears and your sources. C2 is too bright, stage flattens. Piccolo doesn't have the upper treble level to give height. D-Fi is good. If you can get to the point where you can hear actual stage differences between sets, you are doing better than most people. Figure that out, then look at graphs of the sets that sound big, small, flat to you and there is usually a pattern or at least an educated guess.

My issue with Quintet is it can be sharp in the upper mids. I know everyone won't hear that, but kinda a deal breaker for me on that one at that price.

Typo or their interpretation. It is confusing as a normal 2pin cable will with QDC, just doesn't look as pretty. If you have a 2pin cable, it will work, just sticks out a bit more without the sleeve and angle.

My default position is choose the lower priced one and Rhapsody was recently on sale. You should listen to Rhapsody for a while and get used to it, then you can ask better questions as to which next set is more aligned to your preferences. Rhapsody has switches too which will give you some variation.

Not sure they can, I think the no lip was their acknowledgement that it is a bit wide and let's not make it wider.

I'd still wait a bit, let other reviews come in on EM6L. The upper mid area sensitivity is partly specific to your ears. Some people are 2-3k sensitive, I am 5k. For me, I can hear the peak pushed back from the in your face EA500 to the more relaxed EM6L. There are probably some ears where its the opposite, EM6L is now in the sensitive spot. Performer 8 seems to have fixed the P5 issues, but haven't heard either one.

@@PaulWasabii Thanks man! All good stuff to know. Only thing about performer 8 is that I'd prefer more bass which performer 5 and the em6l has more of in most graphs I've seen. 8 is expensive too lol.

Definitely worth a try and I typically do the whole range or to the upper treble peak, but add the filters one at a time and ignore 8k. I add them one at a time so I can hear the filters that have the most effect and reduce the set to a minimal set of changes. For those two sets, you can probably get away with 20 to 6k. I would also try AutoEQ EA500 black or red to my EA500 O2 nozzle, that is a relaxed pinna version.

​@@PaulWasabiiI Autoequed Titan s to softear studio4. The OG had a teeny bit lean/thin. Post EQ, it has the body I like. Then Autoequed simgot ea500 to em6l..(allied with final audio type e eartip), much smoother/fluid. Of course all this could be just my imagination too :-) if so the placebo works for me!

​@@PaulWasabiijust realised I didn't understand your final suggestion. Where is your ea500 O2 nozzle tuning? Is it an physical nozzle you talking about or it's autoequable squig you have? I just found one unlabelled ea500 curve on your squig site

Problem with Olina is that it is very good. Around the same price point, both EA500 and EM6L are close to sidegrades. On separation, EM6L chose a safe path and not pushing the technical aspects as much as they could. On a flat source, it might pop out more than Olina SE but it might do the same with Olina. You have to keep in mind that Olina is $200ish level performance, and you need to look in that range and above before you start to see more BAs, more technical performance. Olina/EA500/EM6L essentially made most sets up to that level sidegrades.

Yeah but at this price point, you are actually better off with planar. SIMGOT is just a bit treble bright so it takes some thought whether it will work for you.

Doesn't suck but depends on your expectations. Its tuned warm but its still 8mm and doesn't have that slam.

Sorry, I'm using the microphone Sim got however it's pronounced her spelled not off of your reviews but other people's reviews best IEM under 100. When I got it it was extremely. I guess the word to use shouty and as I increase the volume I thought the bass would become more prominent. I like to listen to a track by Genesis called no reply at all. It was released in 1981. They have a talented bass player. So what do I consider good? I need to hear the bass line from a gifted bass player. It's so funky that song is when Genesis showed their funk and they had a horn section as well. I guess which the EA 500 covered the horn section fine if not being too shouty but if I'm going to listen to the who or Genesis with their talented bass players I want to be able to hear the baseline and I want it more prominent. So I I'm a little skeptical of Simgots iems and if they can deliver in that department. If not, who do you recommend? Another way to describe it is like a child with a high voice, whether it be a girl or a little boy that just keeps complaining with their high voice and screeching it times or little dog that wants that barking. That's how I could describe the EA 500. It's like where's the? I don't know the terminology but I don't see how you can miss it. I understand people say people here differently. People hear differently but if there's a talented bass player you want to hear that and the EA 500 totally did not deliver in that department. So if you have any recommendations hit me back

the bigger the diaphragm,the more air it can produce. "air" in the upper frequencies depends on the tuning of a capable driver,be it 8 or 10 or 12mm

I won't swear on that as there have been some recent 12-13mm DD that seemingly have no slam. I think that is where Legato added to the confusion, it could rumble but tuned to have less slam. A 12mm should be able to do both

@PaulWasabii that's my point . The sameer the speaker the more slamm it gets. Can suffer from loud volumes. But slams more . I used to have speakers from a serial collection . Home speaker same model but was different sizes. I recall I choose the medium size because the big speakers only slammed at really high volumes because it was bigger ans nore powerful too.

Yes, there was a tradeoff in fitting the BA inside and the QDC connector. EA500 looks and feels just as stylish as do most sets in polished metal shells like that.

No, someone just commented the same after you. I actually rank looks after fit. If you didn't get the fit right, looks don't matter. Lots of sets have amazing look and ok sound.
