Technique 21: Take a Stand, asks students to actively make judgement about their peers' answers. This technique allows the teacher to assess the students' understanding (through questioning how and why they have come to their conclusion) and thereby pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of their instruction.
When you begin to implement this technique, you will have to think about all of the various steps and actions involved, things may feel awkward at first. Rest assured, with repetition and practice, you (and the participating students) will quickly begin to function almost automatically.
Never forget, when you make one classroom skill automatic, you and your students are freed up to focus on a higher one.
