Practice make permanent. Does it also make perfect, in your classroom?
The key idea of Technique 23, Call & Response, is to use group choral response - you ask; they answer in unison--to build a culture of energetic, positive engagement.
Not only does this technique help build a classroom attitude of engagement and compliance; the technique, once it has become a classroom procedure (an automatic response) through repetition, students are freed up to think more creatively about the answers they give because there is an expectation of participation.

I'm flattered to read that. I love using this technique to bring up the energy levels of my class. This is really useful during the first period on Monday morning and on Friday afternoon.

What if a student feels shy to respond with everyone? And if you want them all to tell you the answer what if someone says something different than everyone

That is an excellent question. For my students (English language learners), I try to respect their "silent period" and let them wait to respond until they are ready. I have found that when my material is comprehensible (after some guided discovery and question circling) and presented/questioned with energy and excitement, I can increase buy-in. If someone gives a different/incorrect answer, I will use my intuition to decide if I should call out the answer for correction or allow the correct choral response to give the student the feedback they need. If I do give feedback, it is usually not on the spot. I don't like losing the momentum of a good Q&A. I will usually make a note on my clipboard and come back to review the content at the end of class or on my message board.

I usually allow students the option to write their answers until they are ready to speak.
