Greg Carr, associate professor of Africana Studies and chair of the Department of Afro-American Studies at Howard University, was in conversation with Jessica Rucker, electives teacher and department chair at E.L. Haynes Public Charter High School in Washington, D.C.

Sir how is a celebration (one day) going to emancipate descendants of slaves, descendants of slaves masters benefited back then and today, when slavery ended the economic, political & social systems was put in place for the advancement of the caucasian race, blacks were in effect years behind economically & socially. Today whites have 10 times the wealth of blacks....why because of the system that was put in place FOR the advancement of caucasians. Sir you spit out knowledge but being surrounded by books and sounding off feel good rhetoric about Juneteeth is not going to advance people of color. Malcolm X was right.
