This was a really cool video. I learned this in my psychology class, the method being used is operant conditioning. The idea was first created by a scientist named Thondike and then expanded upon by B. F. Skinner. It's so cool to see this method being used in the real world. Luna will keep interacting to the buttons until you stop responding to them. Really great video, learned a lot!
How did you teach her the meaning of "sad", as it's not really anything you can respond with a treat or taking her outside? Also, how did you get her to know the difference between mum and dad?
when the dog hits the sad button I would immediately put on a very sad face and talk to it in a very sad tone. that way it learns how the sad button feels.
if anyone sees this comment, it is not recommended to teach them using treat. what you need to do is start with a button like outside and anytime you go outside you press the button and say the word and make sure your dog notices and eventually it will start pressing it and you introduce new buttons then
@@JaPasa step 6: realize a dog’s instinct isn’t to eat you in your sleep. They attack when they feel the need to protect themselves. Which would again fall on the human to show they aren’t a threat.
@@luisbarron2452 Step 7: Realize you misinterpreted my comment, as instinct is the subset of behavior intrinsic to any given lifeform, and I stated nothing about a dog eating its owner in their sleep.
They know a lot more than what we originally thought. Some of the scientist studying these videos were also surprised by the fact that dogs knew what tomorrow, yesterday, next week meant as well. They're completely baffled.
I have a rescue Doberman he is 3yo we also communicate very good but I will prefer to teach them how to bottom interact I’m sure we will have lots of fun 🐶❤️
This looks awesome! I have a husky mix who already knows a lot of simple words because they're very talkative animals... I'll be interested to see how quickly she picks up on the buttons and the words that are associated with them... Thank you very much! I was kind of wondering about how to train them with the buttons
Once you have like 10 words it's useful to introduce and stick to word-order and other grammar conventions. TAKE BALL MOM can mean take the ball to mom or take mom to the ball, or it could mean take mom and the ball. Or even mom took the ball. Probably best to model after English if you speak English. I don't think there's any reason why dogs can't learn a bit of grammar. Also words get repurposed. LATER may be interpreted as "no" depending on various things. Spend a while learning a foreign language to get an idea of how ambiguous words can be.
Just got our buttons for my mutt female. Showed her the outside button and she was so-so with it. Made a treat button and my mini schnauzer beats her to the buttons. It seems my schnauzer caught on fast once treats were involved.
This is the coolest thing. I've got a dashweiler. He's almost 4 I just got him like 8 months ago. I've Bern trying paw with him but he's struggling. I'd live to teach him this
Some things aren't really taught. They just know it. They know a lot more than what we originally thought. Some of the scientist studying these videos were also surprised by the fact that dogs knew what "tomorrow, yesterday, next week" meant as well. These aren't taught, they're just aware of what it means. Probably from listening. Scientists are completely baffled.
Cant wait to start! Love your way of explaining! When Odin a Labrador 1,5 years knows the trick we will make a video! 😁 Up to the next video mate! ✌🏼 from the dutch
Beautiful dog . But I see she pressed the treat button twice and you ignored her . Plus you ask people to press the subscribe button and ask people to leave questions , but I see you ignore a lot of their questions .
I would be thinking like any other reconditioning. Modify the environment or situation, to get them more comfortable. He used his hand on top, then transitioned to without it. Get creative with how to lesson the fear, then translation to more exposure. Im currently training a 4month old Border Collie. I'm by no means an expert but feel a lot of dog training is similar. I also haven't started yet, but below is what I would try.----> Edit* lots of treats when their near the button, work up to leaving the treat right next to the button. (Frankforts work well, secret weapon of pro dog trainers, just make sure low sodium). If it's the sound, then randomly throughout the day press the button. When their distracted with play have someone push it from a distance first, so they hear but don't care. Work up closer and closer, TREATS etc. Good luck.
Does anyone know the type to get where u could add your own images underneath the caps, they would need to be clear, and removable (even if need to pull apart). I've looked around on Amazon I feel like my dogs nails will scratch off any paint.
How can you teach a dog to use a button when they're sad? It's not like you can make them cry on command and tell them to press that in order to express it
How does she know the difference between poopoo outside and play outside (she used poopoo button in another video). Do you take it outside and press it when she makes poopoo?
I think that would be a good way. Also it would be awesome to have custom sounds where u could record your phrases. As we already have some baked into our pup
@@williamwillaims I think there is a way to record what you want on the buttons. . I watched another video of a dog named Bunny who uses these buttons. She is pretty advanced and I think it’s the mom’s voice on the buttons.
