Yes, a bittersweet song. She died after she sent the letter stating she was coming home. He found out at the game that she had passed. It was sung in the 90’s and made famous by the Chicks (Dixie Chicks) and HF switched it up to make the woman the soldier which I liked. I understand both actors are/were soldiers so that was nice. Loved Austin and Chance singing together. Adam’s drum solo was sobering. Good reaction but yes confusing. I was confused at first too.
The way I interpret it is the last chorus is a flashback. He's remembering the good times. And then you see she wrote a letter that she was coming home that she never sent. This was released for US Memorial Day where we remember those we've lost while they were serving. Home Free reminds us here that women also serve and also die in service, which is too often forgotten.
@@SofiaSonia No problem. A lot of non-US folks get confused by the video. If you just listen to the song, it's implied her name was read among the list of the army dead, but the video kind of muddies the meaning. And, of course, we're all suckers for a happy ending. FYI, Home Free mentioned at the premiere that the woman in the video is currently serving and the man is a veteran. Just a cool little extra.
That harmonization with Austin, Chance & then Rob eventually joins them is AMAZING....I think I saw Sonia melting to hearing it....we need to hear more of that from Home Free. She did come home, it was just in a casket ! :( :( :( This was released for Memorial Day in the USA.....to honor those who have given all for service to our country !!! Even more poignant, her last letter made it to him after her name was announced at the game. The idea was she posted the letter ("I'm coming home soon"), which took a couple of weeks to make it to him, shortly before she was killed in action. The original also had the soldier (male that time) die after sending the final letter.
This song is so beautiful but so sad. A line from the song is "you never want to be alone when the letter says a soldier's coming home" meaning they are coming home, but in a casket. Thank you for your reaction. Home Free did a beautiful job with this song.
The young female Soldiers from Fallujah, to Kandahar, they fall. The female Soldiers died with the men. This girl had no one to write to. The letter comes as quickly as the military can make it but she will not be writing again.
Home Free released Traveling Soldiers in May for mental health month. They always use their platform to address social issues. They have released Land of the Free from their new album. Thanks for the reaction
Sad but true - this song was dropped right before our "Memorial Day" commemorating those who paid the ultimate sacrifice - yes the story does not have a "happy storybook ending" the way we all would like - War is a terrible thing and many soldiers have died right up to the minute when they would have returned home - letters were written telling their loved ones they were coming home - which it seems what happened in this version of the song. Home Free has the ability to pull out every and any emotion in their music - that's what sets them apart from every other group. I'm sorry that this hit you sadly but in reality - those who gave their lives so we could be free are and should never be forgotten. I'm a father of a soldier son who had two horrible tours in Iraq but came back alive thank God but many of his friends in arms didn't. Hello Ladies!!!! Thanks for doing a reaction on this video. Yeah, this one was a little tough to get through the first time I watched it. Home Free always has a way to pull at our heart strings, don't they? If I may make a suggestion for you guys to react to....Home Frees' original song "When you walk in". For some reason it seems like not too many RU-vid reactors did reactions to this one. I figured every Home Fry RU-vid reactor would've jumped on this one. The song itself is fantastic and sweet. Austin Brown not only takes the lead on this one, but is also featured doing some dancing with a gorgeous young lady named Brittany Cherry in video. Brittany is a professional dancer that has been on "Dancing with the stars" and "So you think you can dance" tv shows. I know the two of you are gonna love this one. One other one you two could do is their recently released song called "Land of the free"....It's upbeat, positive vibes and just an overall good feel song and video. Yes, this does not end well. She wrote the letter, and was killed right after that. BUT...Home Free just dropped another video for the 4th. of July, which is our Independence Day. It's called Land Of The Free. It was written by Tim a decade or so ago, when he was a Country solo artist. It;'s upbeat and so much fun. The guys are having a blast in that one. Thank you, Ladies. It's a beautiful song and the boys were awesome, like always! We know now that it was released to comemorate Memorial Day, so we understand now the context. They made a tribute to everyone that gave their lives for freedom and their country. It's very inspirational!

Sorry ladies. She died and the her name was on the list of the army dead. The scenes towaards the end are flashback scenes & we see her love letter to hum after she dies.
