I’m loving this trend of roping the voice actors into playing the games theyre in, between this and things like Detroit: Become Human and Baldurs Gate III, this makes for a whole lot of neat content and game dev production stories
Bryan and Amelia Dechart (Connor and one of the female Traci bots) are literally the coolest couple ever, my very first twitch sub and I’ll never forget the playthrough they did of Detroit become human and to this day they still stream
i always liked matt mercer playing overwatch and doing mccree's voiceline for his ultimate in voice chat and everyone is like "oh fuck where is it-- wait nobody is even playing mccree"
My favorite part of your coaching style in this video is that you never go on about what's right or wrong. You only riff off of what Faye notices herself or what questions she asks. There's obviously a lot that could be commented on, but the most important thing is that the coachee is interested and having fun, and overwhelming them with a million things they're doing wrong or things they could be doing right is counter-productive to that.
In my experience that's the best way for most people to learn. Trying to focus on too many things just isn't practical for most people, the absolute maximum is prolly 3-4 things: for a fighting game example it'd be like anti-air, fastest poke, on hit vs on block confirm, maybe a stance if it's important for the character. And then developing that into a flowchart to start rotating options and adding more when you're comfortable.
I don't coach, but I do regular teach barista skills to complete beginners at work as a Head Barista. I can confirm that the best way to teach is to let people teach themselves and act as an assisting role. Asking what people WANT to work on is always a great first step, because even if it isn't the most crucial thing they need to work on right now, helping them overcome something that they're struggling with builds a ton of confidence that they can identify and solve problems. What I really like about Sajam's style is he turns what people see as their failures into strengths, which is a very natural way to learn. When Faye admits she has a bad habit of mashing DI and wants to figure out more sensible ways out of dangerous situations, he immediately affirms that just understanding that is incredibly good, and instead of focusing on what she's doing wrong (mashing DI) he instead focuses on redirecting her panic somewhere safer: EX Slide.
I have to agree, The coaching shown in this video was great. He gave them simple tools that they pointed out themselves, to improve upon and then given the fact that they already knew their weaknesses they adapted.
this was my experience in smash bros melee. i overwhelmed myself with how much of the game i was trying to take in and didn’t consider if i was building my fundamentals as strong as possible before moving on. eventually i limited myself to 1 new concept to focus on per play session and it helped me overcome that plateau so quick.
I can't even keep track of how many of us are only alive because Sajam rescued us from certain death in a fire, and Faye hopefully knows that he lets literally anyone borrow the Bugatti if they need it. He's so busy saving stray dogs and shutting down puppy mills he doesn't even need it.
Great video! I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Sajam for coaching me into applying into top universities and reaching grandmaster at Street Fighter II as a young child 25 years ago.
Just to make sure she knows that you rescued me and my sister when were 4 from a burning orphanage, and ran in despite the fire being huge. This is awesome.
Sajam showed up right after to help me move, and I was like "damn dude aren't you existed from fixing that guy's Mom's roof, and he was like "what are friends for?"
Low key I'm like so rooting for them to be the Jay Z and Beyonce of the FGC, and from the sounds of it, they're on their way. We all out here rooting for it, mostly because Sajam recued us from that fire back in the day.
i'm always glad to let you borrow my jeans sajam, but please make sure to tighten the crotch section back up before you return it to me. it's supposed to be slim fit, not sagging
Imagine a world where the best Aki is the actual voice actress lmao. They should have a tournament with all the voice actors, it would be so fun to watch.
Hey Sajam, reaching out through here since you seem to be busy helping at the homeless shelter to read the DM I sent you: Thank you loaning me those $12000 for the downpayment of my new rent. I'd be right there in the shelter if it wasn't for you. I understand that a measly $12000 is a drop in the ocean to you, but it saved me. I swear I'll pay you back someday. Keep being the awesome, tall, bugatti-owning philanthropist you are.
Genuinely had a smile on my face the whole video. To see her learn and apply things as she kept playing was so fun. She did a seriously good job. Also the fact she's a VA brings so much emotion to when she actually gets excited.
Watching this reminds me that it's way more fun playing when you don't think about winning and mainly focus on improving your playstyle. I feel like we sometimes forget that and just get grumpy when we don't win.
This auto-played for me and I was chilling to the good vibes but I didn't expect to know one of the characters she VA'd. Petra from FE 3 Houses! That is so cool. "I will get the victory!"
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but her michael jackson-esque "heehees" are hilarious. We've come a long way with coaching, from the gootecks days lol. On the note of her "E" it just reminds me of Fauna. Good vibes, good energy, good video.
I'm sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store and I legitimately Luke fist pumped when Faye clutched out the win against that Kimberly. Man I love the FGC 😂
Her getting excited about pulling off things is so enjoyable. I'd love to see maybe roping Aleks and/or other of the voice actors into this. Also she's got Jeremy and James on deck just like me. It really is the same game.
Thanks Faye, for using Talk no Jutsu to send the meteor away from the orphanage, before hopping in your Lamborghini to save lil' Timmy who was stuck in a tree.
Sorry I'm late guys, just got out of a coma to find out that Sajam paid for my hospital bills and let my family stay in the Ritz-Carlton, all expenses paid for, the whole time.
