If you have a very young or small grom that is already comfortable in the water here is a trick to get them up on a wakeboard with a little less frustration.
1. Get them comfortable with the board on floating. You don't want them to panic when they fall so have them float on their back and stomach. They won't be able to turn the board over on their own in the water.
2. Double sided velcro. Just buy a 6' roll from the hardware store and adhere the two halfs together. Also get a couple D rings.
3. Have them practice by pulling them up on the platform.
4. Attached the surf rope to the velcro with at least about 6" of overlap so it holds on a surf rope. Start at about a 90 degree angle. This helps stabilize them, pull the board around as they come up, and keeps the boat from pulling them over forward. As they get more comfortable you can extend the length of the velcro further out on the rope towards the boat. This gradually decreases the effect the strap is actually having until it really is doing nothing.
5. DO NOT HOOK THE ROPE TO THE BOAT AND MAKE SURE IT FREE. YOU HAVE TO LET GO IF THEY FALL!!!!
