@@PALX50 yeah MbL apparently wondered why a guy who had breeched the top 40 in the world still pretended like he was a noob to his chat. Gotta love that self depreciating humour.
Very fun, ha you whould have given Grubby the grid hotkeys, would have been so much easier for him. Oh by the way you can now have hotkey conflicts in AoE4 (finally!). Also, map bans.
This was ridiculously entertaining and informative at the same time. Thanks a lot Viper and Grubby for that great content. U are a really chilled duo. Please share more of such stuff in the future. Its nice to see how effective this kind of coaching is. Also the naturally occuring questions are a good thing for beginners. Also really funny how u both messed up your very first game. which shows, that a new game is always kind of overwhelming even for rts pros like you two are.
In my opinion, WC3 is a very unusual game because unlike almost any other RTS, it’s got a lot of RPG elements where, more than how you build your base and units, how you creep, level, spend points, and acquire and distribute drops matter a lot. That’s why it is able to present a very involved and story driven single player, because you’re very involved in playing your heroes. Its legacy is spawning World of Warcraft and DotA. Meanwhile, AoE is a much more standard RTS and much easier to understand. It makes sense that a world-class RTS player can have success in AoE 2 after a couple training matches, whereas Viper struggled hard in WC3. I’d love to see both players after a few weeks of training, though. I have a feeling that they’d both be pretty dang good.
Yesterday I watched Viper playing WC3 and was wondering when Grubby will play AOE and I just woke up and found out that cool thumbnail, thanks to this videos I will buy the game and come back after so many years.
This editing is on point. Double screen, focusing, various other features. My eyes didn't get bored at all. Besides all the hilarious stuff happened during games
This disserves thousands off likes. You both are so skilled pkayers, teacher and fast learning guys. Also you cunnicate so well speaking a non native language of yours that I was abble to understand almost everything even not been a native english speaker too. So natural, didatic and intuive. I enjoyd a lot.
It's such a wholesome experience to watch my favorite two streamers/content creators play each others games. The two games that I played and enjoyed most in my life. I played uncountable hours of WC3 in my teens and rediscovered my love for RTS with AOE2 HD (😬) and played it and followed the competitive scene ever since.
So if I get thumbring I get 100% accruacy on the archers? Well yes, but no. Ok but if I get thumbring and ballistics I will always hit? Well yes, but no. Explaining AOE2 ranged fire is hard.
Hey Viper, you know that orc burrows in warcraft 3 function a lot like TCs in aoe2. That might have made it easier to explain to grubby the concept of garrisoning to shoot, ungarrisoning etc!
Grubby did a great job of making sure that he was always spending resources, keeping his army nice and large. I've really been enjoying this cross-over, I hope you do this with more people/games in the future!
Awesome collab! The greatest players of my two favorite RTS playing together are a sight to behold. Grubby did great with your calm and detailed guidance, you're such a good teacher. There was some perfectly reasonable moments of confusion at times coming from differences between the games but we could also see Grubby's skill kicking in when he felt more comfortable - for example his army massing macro was high level and he showcased sharp intuition with walling choices. Do you plan on going through campaigns of Warcraft 3, Viper? They serve as a fantastic tutorial to almost all the units and heroes in the game while also having captivating story which is honestly better than many actual books.
AoE2 noob question: Why not transition from sheep/boar/berries to the deer with another farm there and instead build these very early and expensive/wood-heavy farms? Because of fear of getting raided? If the latter, why not put a tower there and be done with it? Really hard to grasp coming from AoE4. Thanks for any info...
This was a lot of fun to watch. I never played Age of Empires but grew up playing Warcraft 3. I've been following Grubby playing competitive Warcraft 3 for quite a while. Watching this video of Viper teaching Grubby has given me a better understanding of Age of Empires than I've ever truly had. Viper, I also see that you're wearing the new Manchester United home jersey. I'm a fan of United myself, although its been very hard to watch them recently! Hopefully they get back on the winning path soon. 😂 This has been a great series with each of you teaching the other your respective games. Keep it up!
2 of 2 Games out of Sync, the reason i stopped playing 3v3 and 4v4 ranked Teamgames in Age of Empires 2 - there are just too many games someone crashing / disconnecting or the game going out of sync. Works way better in Age of Empires 4 with 6 oder 8 players.
1:10:05 that moment right there is what makes you fall in love with AoE2, it's like watching a medieval battle happen right in front of your eyes. Yes it might not be the best animation and models but it leaves room for your imagination to see how the battle played out
21:18 there is actually a hotkey for both "all idle vills" and "all idle military" currently. ctrl + shift+ . or , something like that for default I don't remember
This is a cool video, as someone who enjoys aoe4 and is a pretty solid rank I have been wanting to try aoe2 but the game just feels so different, maybe this will help me start.
Would liek to see more of this colab :D two guys who still love their game. Since decades they try to entertain, educated and being on top of the world.
